Viofo paid the original company who design the A118 for the rights to use the design and all and made A118C... While other just copy and manufacture the A118 without paying... Something like that... An example would be G1W dashcams, there is a lot of manufacturers releasing different versions of G1W dashcams.

Something like that and also for the firmware updates and support... I can see Viofo is listening to end users and release new firmwares to fix issues raised.

Viofo A118c or A118c? Generic can't get firmware update? Does it matter? If purchased follow the link given, it will take how long to receive the item? Ok to get a16GB memory card instead of 32GB? The capacity enough to cater the need/operation? Budget concern, can save then save a bit lah... Better brand for memory card is Transcend?

If you're worried about getting good support then get the Viofo A118C...

Generic A118C do also have firmware updates but not sure if it is as frequent as Viofo A118C or not...

If it's working, you can just ignore it and no need to update the firmware... Also up to you...

You can try to request gearbest to use Kerry Express to ship the item. They are the fastest at the moment from 1 to 3 weeks to arrive...

32GB can record about 4+ hours... 16GB is about 2+ hours... Depends on you... You can use Samsung, Kingston or Transcend, as long as class10 can d...

There's nothing here biggrin.gif

But since they're both essentially the same device, cant we download from Viofo and install in generic A118Cs?

Think Viofo is focusing on their flagship dashcam, A119, at the moment...

Technically yes you can but scared might brick the dashcam as both manufacturers might use some different hardware inside... innocent.gif

Would you say the oncoming Avanza was going too fast for the camera to read the plate and would a higher-end camera do the job?

There's a line in the A118C manual which says you should start the car before plugging in the dashcam because if you leave it plugged in and start the engine, the sudden surge of current will damage it over time.

Doesn't seem to make sense to me though... if like that our audio systems will spoil really fast.

Hi blurjoey, last time I helped my friend bought the A118c and tested the time/date setting remains even after more than a week not powering up. The only bad thing for my G1WC is time/date setting will reset if not power up for more than 24 hours.
Would u say it is an 'upgrade' if I switch my G1WC to this model? Any technical spec different for these 2 dashcam?

Is the mount loose and the vibration from the car caused it?

Highly doubt it. Loose mounting would be rattling and vibrating (which I get too in my videos sometimes), but this is some sort of motion sickness/psychedelic thing going on.

Guys, just bought Viofo A118C via Gearbest last night. Wonder what is the best SD card for this DVR?
Again, I noticed that Viofo A118C can support up to 64G SD card (according to the spec) while the generic A118C support up to 32G Sd card only...is that true? confused.gif confused.gif

I'm using the Viofo A118C, but somehow my recording is not as clear as this, the colour in the above video seems more contrast and more colour saturation, mine feels grainy.

Not sure is it different time of the day so lighting difference. Or maybe its because my dashboard is not black, its more to greyish so when reflected it cause it to look like that, or is it the recording settings? hmm.gif

Below is recording from mine.

Looks ok to me but you do have lots of reflection from the mat and buddha... Try putting the angle higher so that can see a bit of the bonnet, more on the road will be good and maybe reduce some reflections...

Check if you're using this version or not? I heard the Viofo A118C can work on this also but do be careful as might brick the dashcam...
