Viofo paid the original company who design the A118 for the rights to use the design and all and made A118C... While other just copy and manufacture the A118 without paying... Something like that... An example would be G1W dashcams, there is a lot of manufacturers releasing different versions of G1W dashcams.

basically we end-users are just paying extra for the brand la...... icon_idea.gif

If you're worried about getting good support then get the Viofo A118C...

Generic A118C do also have firmware updates but not sure if it is as frequent as Viofo A118C or not...

*
Really? How can we get them? blink.gif

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Aug 19 2016, 09:40 PM)

You can use Samsung, Kingston or Transcend, as long as class10 can d...

For Viofo, you can visit their website, http://www.viofo.com/ for the updates...

For the generic, I need to find out where to download the firmware...
*
There's nothing here biggrin.gif

But since they're both essentially the same device, cant we download from Viofo and install in generic A118Cs?

I noticed that if I press the Power button while recording there will be this excl.gif symbol. When I open my SD card it shows the clips saved in a separate folder. hmm.gif

That's the emergency record button... In case you saw something and you want to save it to prevent the dashcam from overwriting that video... All dashcam have this function...
*
I thought the manual said its to turn the screen on and off..... I'll re-read it again tonight sweat.gif

Am I supposed to have this kind of blurring? Or maybe the protective film which I havent removed/dirty windscreen could be causing it? Will be uploading sample vids shortly~

Would you say the oncoming Avanza was going too fast for the camera to read the plate and would a higher-end camera do the job?

I think even the A119 or D201 have this issue... As too fast movement...

something which wont remedied anytime soon I guess... which means nutjob drivers like this mostly will still get to escape... rolleyes.gif

Definitely not with the A118C. 720p 60fps looks horrible:
