guys. why i read a lot if reviews that OC 2.9 and 3.15 at 1.3v>1,4 v whereby mine is only 1.274v vcore. weird?

im just curios, i felt that with 1.4v i feel the pc much more responsive, is it just my feeling?

please enlighten me please.
*
most ppl do 3.0Ghz-3.2Ghz within thier default vcore (1.325v) or just a little increasement (between 1.35v-1.375v) becoz some mobo got the vdrop while priming their proc...

if u go above 3.2Ghz...is likely u have to increase ur vcore above the default...but there is some gem c2d that can run under voltage at high speed...but hard to find...n if u have it..u r lucky...

My CPU should be able to achive a higher FSB, but for that i would have to raise my RAM FSB right? My ram is ddr800 so do i just raise the fsb or the latency as well? Im not  quite sure about this part.
*
e6400 if u r using 1:1 533 memory timing
400fsb (400Mhz) x8 cpu multiplier = 3.2Ghz

u can increase slowly ur fsb maybe 10 by 10...n see if it stable or not

as for ur ram..i think corsair twin2x is rated 4-4-4-12... as u go higher Mhz...later u need to loose the timing abit...depend on ur ram capability

it depend..u have to try n error..maybe ask DS4 owner how they tweak...im not familiar with gigabyte mobo/bios...

70'c is normal when overclock with air cooling...some ppl getting higher than u

Icic, no need ram coolers below 2.2v.

Anyway i just finished my stress test again

[attachmentid=185117]

Now, i think ill raise the fsb for the ram.. But im not sure about how to play with the timings lol..
*
nice...up the fsb 10 by 10...used blend test instead of small FFT...blend will stress both ur cpu n ram...for ram timing u can start at 4-4-4-12...when the freq go higher..loosen it a bit if not stable...tight timing with higher frequency is the best...try to find ur best combination...gudluck...

Dont take my word for it. Wait for a sifu to clarify the fact. IIRC, I read somewhere in the VR-Zone forums something about no active cooling required to cool off the ram.

Btw, i do have a 120mm side fan blowing towards my mobo though. Im pretty sure it would 'cool' down my ram to a certain extent. biggrin.gif
*
same opinion with u...if ur ram operating under 2.2v as it rated...normal usage...no active cooling required...but when u all testing prime/stress the ram while run orthos/others stress program for very long hours...just u put one fan blow to it...its gud to cooled it down....just in case of anything happen..

QUOTE(CyberTroop @ Jan 23 2007, 10:24 AM)
Wat about the ram timings, do i have to play with those too?
*
its ur choice..if u want to run at relaxing timing then go for 5-5-5-12...but if u want tight timing...u have to try it....like i said...if not stable..loosing the timing abit as the freq go higher...

only thing is too hot especially after plug in my 8800gts the mobo become hotter.

never tried before, afraid...  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

the problem is the heat dosent come from the processor but from the mobo heatpipe which very obvious contributed highly by the gpu.

if i need a wc i need the one can cool down the processor and the gpu.
*
WC always can do custom one...as otai2x WC here about the custom setup they are using...

agree with irenic...
QUOTE(kando @ Feb 8 2007, 02:00 AM)
Are you overclocking your E6600? what speed you got now?  your system is stable is it because you are using watercooling? I'm not planning to use watercooling.

should i just top-up RM100 to get a Micron chip? fyi EM2 is using Aeneon and HP2 is using micron D9GMH.
*
i already answer some of ur Q at DDR2 Discussion thread....if u wanna go around 3.2Ghz...i dont think u need WC...just buy 3rd party air cooling heatsink for better performance than the stock intel...
