Just a query. When going on tours overseas, are we limited to RM10k or foreign currency equivalent in hard cash?
*
You can bring sgd30k in cash through wallet. whistling.gif

Assuming that if I am asked to go for a body search and any excess funds are discovered, will this be forfeited?

I was informed of this by the tour leaders during some of the holiday trips; should spread out among the family members if more than 10k.

But its alright to carry a bank draft if need to bank into overseas account.
*
So far nobody do body search on wallet

QUOTE(langstrasse @ Aug 13 2016, 12:36 AM)
Folks,
Some time back I read about the presence of a max limit on transfers in foreign currency (I can't remember if it's for inbound or outbound or both).

When doing a TT transfer of USDs from a foreign bank account to a USD bank account in Malaysia (CB), is there a maximum above which Bank Negara needs to be informed etc.?

According to CB website you need to comply to BNM's Foreign Exchange Administration rules:
https://www.citibank.com.my/english/deposit...al-transfer.htm

But from the link below from BNM, (see section 2.9 for Residents), it doesn't appear like there is a limit for TTs)
http://www.bnm.gov.my/microsites/fxadmin/n...1_Residents.pdf

Could someone knowledgable on this subject please assist ?
EDIT: My query is solely about limits imposed (if any) by BNM, not by commercial banks.

I think they will ask you if money > rm50k. Just tell them for kids edu/investment/savings abroad.

QUOTE(koonghx @ Sep 7 2016, 06:13 PM)
This isn't strictly USD/MYR but it's related.
There might be arbitrage opportunity for MYR - KRW - USD

USD - MYR is currently quite stable.
However, KRW - MYR is dropping very rapidly this week.
This is due to KRW getting stronger against USD, but USD - MYR is relatively unchanged.

I was able to leverage this and sell KRW for MYR for a little profit.
I never studied econs, so I am not sure whether this is good or not but I am getting much better exchange rate than directly buying KRW.
*
Don't worry. It's peefectly alright. Some of our forumer here wanted to buy SGD. Instead of MYR > SGD, he went MYR > USD > SGD. Got more SGD as the amount was larger.

Wat is your TP?
*
If I really need it, doesn't matter what price.
However, for this current purchase anything below 4.05 is a good buy. Anyway, doesn't matter what price I buy for this purchase as I already save ~RM30+ (free shipping + no GST + lower price than malaysian sellers) for the same items if I buy from Malaysia.
For next shopping tomorrow, hopefully can get the 20% discount. If can get, my discount become like 5%+ 10% (5+10% already confirm) + 20% + exchange rate (buying at 4.04 instead of 4.06-4.07) discount. rclxms.gif rclxm9.gif

You will never get the lowest rate. So buy when the USD drops. rclxms.gif I hold my shopping if USD is too high.

Fitch: Property Developer Lending Could Stoke Risks in Malaysia
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/fitch-proper...-030550468.html
gomen-developers may be pushing the idea of more and easier loans to house buyers.

becos a lot of new builds unsold, developers crying.

if approved, more debt.

household debt/gdp will get closer to 100%.

will have an impact on rm.

what if cut int rate in nov?!
*
They are not fixing the problem. The problem is high priced property. Fix that and you don't need to offer loans.

I will be cry.gif if OPR cut

At least if Trump wins, one thing assure relationship with Russia will be restored, devil.gif companies like apple will have to bring back their factory = higher apple price products rclxms.gif

China will have to find ways to overcome departure of those US companies. No more cheap labour. vmad.gif

If Trump wins, USD become stronger???

If Trump wins, we will get a sudden Brexit phenomenon (those investors panicloss, dump everything without thinking straight sweat.gif ) and you see all market becomes red. Every single one RED

USD will drop > good to pick up a few as sure will rebound
US market drop > investors dump everything (red)
Asia Pacific will drop > cause the asian investors see mat salleh run, they also run (red)

Japanese and Gold will increase.
China???

Hiliary win, BAU, USD will become stronger than come back to normal, So if she wins, no drama, no shock puke.gif
