QUOTE(Flizzardo @ Jan 27 2007, 04:51 AM) if its done right gen2 sedan would definately revive proton and bring back confidence to buyers (eventhough neo already did the job but the real big market is sedan! gen2 have the look, if quality build is up to savvy and neo standard it would be a bomb ) variable valve timing would be a plus! so is it confirmed gen2 sedan going to have variable valve timing? I doubt they'll redo the roof coz;and i hope they make more height room for rear passenger OT : i would really love to see a neo coupe (putra replacement model maybe?) with higher cc campro with variable valve timing it would be celica killer 1. extra design work 2. might look ugly 3. drag co-efficiency will be different 4. extra spare parts to keep in service center Might as well just have a Gen.2 sedan, if it is good then kill the Waja. Coz dowan these two models fight among themselves. Engine technology wise I don't think Proton will come up with anything new, there are people who said Lotus can help but Lotus streangths is in chasis design not engines, thats why Lotus never ever has its own engine for any of its cars. It would be less troublesome for Proton to keep the same Campro engine now in Waja, Neo and Gen.2 so spares can be unified thus lowering cost. Celica killer? Have to see in terms of performance or what. Performance wise that car isn't much but it does have the looks. |

Lotus is pretty good with engines what?
The Exige 240S, 240hp from only 1.8. But supercharged la. But the rumoured supercharged Waja can happen with the help of Lotus. |

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Jan 27 2007, 08:23 PM) they see campro engine they... modifying a supercar and passanger car engine is two very different things. passanger cars are biased towards reliability while supercars are towards performance. plus they tuned the engine they didn't go add CPS+VIm technology onto it, 2ZZ-GE should be VVT-i |

darn... those are the pix i took ages ago at the proton plant... no real security back then (perhaps cos it was a scrapyard) lol... u can't see the inside, the windows were solid black. been forwarded like crazy, even got it back in my email . shot it together with the (then covered) savvy, juara concept, abandoned pajero mini concept n concept satria cabrio (which made me laugh cos some emails said it was comin soon). sweet memories...

If they plan to release it in June some spyshot picture should be available soon. It's hard to get new Proton model spyshot nowadays. I remembered before the NEO,and savvy was released there are alot of website with NEO or Savvy spyshot picture.
I really hope Proton can win back the market with this model. NEO is a good model but Malaysians prefer a sedan so making a sedan is the right decision. |
