QUOTE(bernard dompok @ Nov 29 2016, 02:13 PM)
guys. what is "low profile" tyre? i see some car got very thin tyre. i think it looks good when fit into a large rim. how to find these tyre ?
*
Low profile tires are those tires with very thin sidewall. I'd say the sidewall height is less than 10cm.
Low profile tires can find any tire shops la. Looks good, can improve handling response on smooth roads, but uncomfortable and more risky to damage the rims.

QUOTE(bernard dompok @ Nov 29 2016, 03:20 PM)
205 45 16.
*
That is low profile already coz your sidewall height is very thin already at only 9.4cm. My recommendation is to stay above 10cm for best compromise between look, handling, and comfort, ideally between 10.5-11.5cm.

QUOTE(usmanjailani @ Dec 2 2016, 02:48 PM)
guys..what pro and con diff tire thickness (im not sure what the proper terms) such as 55 front tire and 60 rear tire..planning to go back to kedah from jb..but need change tire first..so anyone?.my rear tire is still good, only need to change the front 1..
*
The lesser the sidewall height, the harder the ride quality. Vice versa, the more the sidewall height, the more comfortable the ride but also more floating. So like I said above, the ideal compromise based on my experience is to get tires with sidewall height between 10.5cm-11cm.
What is your current tire size and for what car? You need to match more or less with the same total diameter with maximum tolerance of 3% from original size, cannot just simply go thinner or taller tires as you wish.

i see..

rear tire 165/60R14
front tire 165/55R14
*
Hmm very small car tires. I suggest just stick with the 165/60/14 coz it's rather thin already, borderline at 9.9cm sidewall.

is it too small?.the mechanic said standard size for viva is 55..

It's bigger actually than 165/55/14. Not sure what is the std size for Viva, never pay attention on that.

Owh. What I mean is... The ps3 is still in the manufacture line? Or they are just the remaining stock left before completely phase out? And do they have plan for UHP for 15"?

So disappointed when ps4 start off with 16".

003 also have slot for 15....
*
PS3 is still available for 15' size coz PS4 only got from 16' above. As for your question if PS3 is still relevant/good tire compared to newer ones today, the answer is absolutely yes! If you look at the list of UHP tires available in 15' then you'd only have:
PS3
F1D5
RE003
V12Evo2
V701

Out of those now PS3 is still the best well balance tire, the best in aquaplaning resistance while also provides good dry grip performance. The next closest one or practically almost equal to it is the Goodyear F1D5, also a very well balanced tire for dry & wet so this is the other best alternative. RE003 you know how it is already. Then the Hankook V12E2, from the reviews I read, it's also pretty good in the dry but might not be as good in the wet as PS3 (read some reviews that it can be just a tad tricky in the wet), still an interesting value for money choice though coz should be cheaper than RE003 and last longer. Last is the Yokohama Fleva V701 which really has very mixed reviews so far, some says decent enough some other says poor grip that is very easy to squeal and poor wet performance hence not so convincing IMHO.

So in summary, by all means go with the PS3, otherwise get the F1D5. You won't go wrong with either of these 2.

It will be a harsher ride, guaranteed!

2017 civic 1.8s stock tyres want to trade in for something else. Plan to drive into a tyre shop on the same day as I get my car.

1. How much trade in value for those 4 stock tyres (MC5 I think?)

2. Any recommendation? I prioritize durability, comfort and grip. In that order. I'm a soft driver 20% city 80% highway

Edit : stock tyre is 215/55/R16
*
You got your priorities wrong, should be the other way around, coz you're not a taxi driver right?! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(asyraf26 @ Sep 17 2017, 06:15 PM)
i just changed my stock tire for Proton Iriz 1.6 MT. From 195/55r15 to 195/60r15. I was told later that my speedometer would be inaccurate due to increase in tire diameter. I just wonder if this truly was a bad tire change. Or is it possible to recalibrate the speedometer?
*
Yes the meter readings will be understated by your change. Note though that many cars actually have inaccurate meter readings to begin with! So one way to find out is just by comparing your speed between your speedo and a GPS device at constant highway speeds, say 100kph. If they're the same then actually you've corrected the inaccuracies of the std meters but if not then the GPS reading is the correct one. As for recalibrating the speedo. no cannot.

I'm in sales so I drive a lot. On average I drive 3300km/mth. Durability has to be my top priority then comfort tongue.gif . There are many driving method to compensate on "lesser" grip tyres.
*
So how often can you afford to change tires, every year/2 years/3 years? If you can afford to change tires once every 2 years then I suggest for you to still go for high performance tires with good grip rather than durability. coz tires like Michelin PS3 with tread wear rating of 320 can last around 50k km or even a bit more if driven normally and with regular tire rotation at least every 20k km. But if you can only afford to change tires once every 3 years or more then you need to look for high durability tires with tread wear rating like 400 or above, for example Michelin XM2, Hankook S1 Noble 2, etc2 which are mostly low end category tires.

Every 2 years sounds reasonable for 4 wheels. How much do you think I could get trading my stock tyres? PS3 about $500 per donut? Or thereabouts?
*
You can get PS3 for around rm350-400 for your size I think, a bit expensive coz a rather odd size.

looking to change my stock tyre on satria neo after 4 years
seems like not much option for 195/50R16
so may need to go for 205/45R16 right?

How much should i expect for Hankook V12 Evo2?
any other better recommendation around the same price?
*
Can also opt for 205/50/16 if you want slightly more comfort ride (due to a bit taller sidewall) coz 205/45/16 will be pretty harsh.
As for price, I think difficult to find better value than the V12 Evo2 at the moment. You can try ask around for Goodyear F1D5 but I think will be more expensive.

Really? What car is it and have you lowered your car and/or change to aftermarket rims?

Bros, how is conti mc6 real usage review. Currently on ps3, hv to change all 4 donuts, 235 45 18. Ps4 kinda high on price and car mostly used by missus.

Another option is re003 as sellers recommend it. But will it hv any impact since traction is A as others hv AA rating
*
The only review I've read is comparing MC6 to the previous, not so good, MC5 and the MC6 is indeed much better than MC5. But don't know yet if as good as PS3/4 coz not yet seen any comparison tests on MC6 with those top UHP tires.

RE003 is more focused on dry performance as you can see it has big tread block designs with less water channels so in the wet would not be as good a PS3/4. This is also indicated by the A traction rating that you mentioned. This traction rating is actually about wet traction. Finally, RE003 will wear off faster than PS3/4 as indicated by a rather low tread wear rating of just 220 as opposed to PS3/4 at 320.

I suppose in your case, since there isn't much option of getting a good yet relatively cheaper UHP tire at this size, then it might be worth to try the MC6. What is your car btw, the Accord 2.4?

Guys, is this tyre condition still okay? Manufacturing date is 5013.its a michelin xm2

Already showing lots of cracks in the treads indicating that the rubber is getting hardened. Can still use but just don't drive fast, but should change soon.

normally how many km do you guys managed to clock on your tyres? is 60k km good enough already?

I use UHP tires so mostly can reach 40-50k km. For lesser category tires, 60k km should be easy to reach.

Time to get a new pair of tires soon,
Wonder should I stick with RE003 or try PS4?
tried RE001/RE002/S1 Evo/RE003/PS3 before..

Tire size: 205/45R16 or 205/50R16 also able to fit.
*
If got budget, go for PS4. If less budget then go for Hankook V12 Evo 2.

Sifu Sifu . Any recommendations for 225/45 r17 ? For high performance car > 200kmh
*
Depends on your budget. If you want the best and has the budget for it, then go for Michelin PS4. If you want the best value for money, then got 2 choices now: cheapest is the Hankook V12 Evo2, or the very new Falken FK510 which should be just slightly more expensive than the V12E2 but also should be slightly better.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
Conti only has UltraContact 6 or MaxContact 6..
*
Slight correction, for Continental you can also go even better than MC6 with Conti Sport Contact series or the Extreme Contact Sport series. UC6 btw is a low end model only, not good for performance.
