would like to ask for 225/45r18, between Michilen PS4, Continental UC6, MC6, which is more quiet and still has good control in wet road?
at highway i don't speed, always using cruise control at 110km/h but during heavy rain or cornering in highway i don't really decrease speed much as well
thx
*
Instead of all those 3, I'd suggest the Hankook V12 Evo2, coz it's UHP tire like PS4 with very good performance in the dry & wet but has been tested to be very quiet as well (only 66db noise level in the Car & Driver test), plus the price is much cheaper (only around rm300-325/pc if you buy in Klang Valley area) so it's the best bang for the buck now. PS4 will be better in terms of performance but it will not be as quiet and it's so much more expensive. MC6 is still unproven because still very new and not many reviews on it, plus the price is higher than V12E2. As for UC6, just forget about it coz it wont hold a candle to the V12E2! laugh.gif

thx for the fast reply and wow, V12 Evo2 RM 325 is like half of PS4 RM 580. quite tempted.
but, i heard from 2 of my friends they are using hankook and their review not that good. 1 of them is driving Saga using the Kinergy and he said the braking is quite bad compare to Goodyear NCT5. Another 1, I am not really sure about the tyre model, but he said Falken better than Hankook...
*
You cannot just generalize like that. Every tire brands makes low end, mid range, and top end models, so of course in every brand there are those lousy ones too, including Michelin and Goodyear! laugh.gif So same case with Hankook, it surely also makes low end models which are not good in performance so not really recommended. But this V12E2 and the other model which is more difficult to find, the S1E2, are excellent UHP tires, comparative with other top tires like PS4, F1A3, CSC5, PZero, etc2, so very highly recommended especially due to the relatively much cheaper price.

well, i can wait for few more months, since it's 50% tread wear now. but what are the recommended shop for Falken in klang valley?
*
50% still can use for some time actually. Usually use mine until only left 20-25%, or already hitting the minimum tread wear indicator. biggrin.gif Maybe you can post some photos of them.

i see the price of PS4 seem like quite tempting now around RM580/pc and heard people said it's more quiet and comfortable?? cause I don't really like my current Toyo T1 Sport, a bit noisy and stiff ride
*
People might say PS4 more quiet is compared to PS3 (which is never known for being a quiet tire to begin with), but should not be by much. More comfortable than PS3, I'm not sure about that coz PS4 has stiffer sidewall compared to PS3 to improve the performance level to be more sporty. PS3 is known to have a bit softer sidewall.

The V12E2 trades off a bit of performance compared to PS4 for softer sidewall and lesser noise level, with much cheaper price. That's why we recommend this tire for you. Compared to T1S, the V12E2 is superior in ALL aspects. Toyo tires in general especially their Japanese made are overrated/not worth the price!

huh? what do you mean by never known for being a quiet tyre to begin with?
ps3 is damn good and silent for a performance tyre..
even on my mk5 gti ive been using this tyre for ages and gotta say its damn good handling along with a decent ride comfort level..
used to be on conti sport contact5.. but ever since ps3 which was so long ago.. ive been sticking to it cause its MUCH quieter...
*
Well some people can tolerate more noise than others. PS3 focus is never silence to begin with, that's what I mean. it might be ok for performance level tires but the noise level is just average meaning would not match those mid range comfort level tires like Primacy 3ST for example. To be honest I actually also agree with you, PS3 is still silent enough but noise is also never my top priority in tires. But for some other people who are less tolerant than us, PS3 can be a bit noisy to them. I got several friends who are like that, hence my comment above. smile.gif

As for CSC5, yes it's more noisy than PS3 but to me even that is still ok! laugh.gif CSC5 performance/grip is better though than PS3, especially in the dry.

Ok, I just think you should be fair and not oversell something. Credit where it’s due, hankook does produce decent tires with value in mind.. like the k117a I’m also using is really impressive that seemingly never runs out of grip and its super silent. And yes the v12 is good as well.. but I still think ps3 would be a quieter and grippier choice just that it’ll come at a heftier price tag.
*
Hmm no I'm not trying to oversell anything. PS3 is indeed a pretty good tire. I know coz I'm using it as well along with the V12E2. I don't agree the PS3 can match the low noise level of the V12E2 and I also don't really think the PS3 is grippier than the V12E2. The only advantage the PS3 has over the V12E2 I feel is the aquaplaning resistance but overall dry grip the V12E2 I think is at the very least equally good if not better. Note that this V12E2 had even been tested against PS4S (not even PS4!) plus Continental Extreme Contact, the latest PZero PZ4, and F1A3 last year by Car & Driver Magazine and it can give those top tires a run for their money! So considering how well it stacked up there, I'm not surprised that it would be better then the aging PS3.

Just changed to Primacy 4 today. 215 45 17.

Definitely many class above in term of noise to my existing Conti MC5. The tyre is quite soft and the dry grip is comparable to MC5, maybe a tad slower in response but you did get a floaty feel when corner hard, maybe I will need to let it break in first.

Ride comfort is definitely improved when going over uneven roads. Car maintains its stability very well.
*
Hmm that doesn't sound good! I expect a lot more out of the new Primacy 4, especially against the old and mediocre MC5. Maybe as you said, need to break in first, and see again later after at least 500km travel.

ya, i know it. but personally i am leaning towards ps4 which is more common and cheap in 225/45r18, that's why am asking about the opinion here. thx anyway
*
Ok then by all means just go ahead with PS4, it's the best tire now! thumbsup.gif

Yeah if you can still wait a few more months then better so can try the FK510 when supply already more widespread.

im on v12 evo 2. Bored with the tire coz its quite soft. Anybody here using falken 510 ?
*
That tire is still very new here but should be even better and the sidewall should be stiffer. Go ahead and try, you shouldn't go wrong with it then give us your feedback here. smile.gif

Quite soft means?

Im planning to change to v12e2 next month ehh

The sidewall is on the softer side to maintain good comfort level even though it's a high performance tire with still good grip.

Just replaced my new City stock GT3 tyres to CC6 185/60/R15 (no 195/55/R15 available...) 180 per piece but shop accept trade in so consider reasonable for me. Shop at Taman Midah.
*
Aiyo, size 195/55/15 got many excellent tire choices leh, why choose that low-end CC6? For that size you can buy Hankook V12 Evo2 for just rm170/pc which is SO MUCH better than CC6! I just bought a set of V12E2 for my son's car.

Guys, want to ask recommendation. need to change my stock tyre 215/50r17 conti mc5 soon.
my usage will be normal city driving and occasional highway driving.
I am considering these 2.

1) conti MC6 - found a cheap promo on lazada for about rm350 per donut
2) michelin PS4 - cheapest i find online is RM525 per donut.

Cos am thinking whether is it worth the rm175 different for the ps4 since just for normal usage.
*
Instead of MC6, I suggest you try the Hankook V12 Evo 2 as it has that size as well. It should be even cheaper than the MC6 but yet more proven internationally as a solid high performance tire. Currently in Malaysia market, this tire is the best bang for the buck. I'm using this tire on 2 cars now, my wife's and my son's car.

Where to get Hankook V12 Evo 2 for 170 per pc?
Thanks for the advice, will strike a balance between performance/silent/comfort and my budget sweat.gif
*
S One Tyres & Sport Rims Setia Alam.

https://www.mudah.my/Tayar+hankook+v12+k120...18-67018117.htm

But it's not available for 185/55/15. For this size the best choice is PS3.

Can u guys recommend me good tyres for 195/55r15. Myvi owner here. Maximum budget around rm250 per pc. Thank you

& what is the diferrence between xm2 & ps3. Thank you again
*
Hankook V12 Evo 2, it's at least as good if not better than PS3. I just bought exactly that same size for just rm170/pc.

XM2 is just entry level economic tire while PS3 is high performance tire. So don't buy XM2 if better performance tire for your size are available. Buy XM2 only if your tire sizes are smaller than 15'.

Settled mine with 4 set of Michelin Ps4. Best thing is right after the installation, there is a heavy rain. Can say that the wet grip is better than old PS3 when its new.

Had buy it at KH Tyre & Air Conditioning Services, Bukit Kemuning for RM620 per pcs for 235 45 18. This was the best price i get after messaging almost 10 shop online.
*
Excellent choice! thumbsup.gif That seems a pretty good price too.

Hankook V12e2 205/55/16 for RM270 per piece in shah alam. is this logical price? been scouting around and the next cheapest price is around 300 per piece.

please advice. tq
*
Yup that sounds like a good deal. It shouldn't get much cheaper than that.

Is it this one:

This is the tyre's resonance frequency that caused this noise, my car also similar, just the speed range not as wide as yours.

Nothing to do with the alignment and balancing of the car. You can play around the tyre pressure to reduce the speed range of this noise.

6UE5T you have this issue on the myvi and swift?
*
Hmm I don't notice any such noise from my son's Swift or my wife's Livina (not myvi). The Swift is quite loud though coz of the sport exhaust. The Livina is just normal quiet but the tires were used that I got together with the used rims.

Probably my ears also already lost quite some hearing ability due to listening to loud heavy metal all the time! laugh.gif That's why don't; ask me about tire noise coz I'm not reliable for that aspect! laugh.gif

Hi gyus, have anyone of you used goodyear assurance triplemax or continental UltraContact UC6 before?

Does those two have soft side wall and how to they perform on wet road.
*
I don't think they will perform/grip as well as your current V12E2 coz both are low-mid range category only. Triplemax seems decent though for mid range tires as there seem quite many positive feedback but having said that, the V12E2 managed to outperform the top of the line Goodyear F1A3 during Car & Driver comparison test so I'd say safe to say this lower Goodyear Triplemaxx would not fare any better. Then the UC6 is only the 2nd lowest model from Continental and more focused towards comfort and durability. I got a colleague who recently bought this UC6 for his Camry coz he didn't know better and regretted it coz he said the tires feel a bit floating especially in the wet.
