mechanically the engine itself is relatively easy to maintain.... its a basic mitsu anyway. wear and tear also ok... (not sure bout drive shafts tho)... just keep in mind that, the body panels, trim might cost alot more (assuming you want to refurbish it), frankly speaking would not get that if you are on a tight budget. if you just like it for what it is and are willing to spend bits here and there on the car, sure go ahead....

i have a tiny update, have a friend who owns one of these. He says interior parts are alright, can get from halfcut shops..... the thing you should worry bout would be the gearbox which is an amt..... apparently not a common problem since not many have issues with it but you should keep in mind that the gearbox related components can cost an arm....

hmmm i think you need to do a little more research before you continue... at this point, im pretty sure you have not really done much research on this car. Find out which parts are shared and which parts are not.....

Seem like grand vitara has less complaint and quite promising.
How about the maintenance cost , fuel consumption, spare parts & driving experience?
