Hi sifu's need some recommendations so I can start researching.

Looking to sell my 2011 Honda Civic and purchase a new car. It has served me well, not much hassle which I like.

1. Brand : Honda/Mazda/Toyota
2. Budget : Under RM200k
3. New/Used/Unreg : New preferred, but open to used as well
4. Specs : Mid-spec
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : NA
7. Type : Sedan/SUV
8. Remarks : Would like a reliable after-sales service if it is a new car. Heard good and bad things about the Proton X50, but not sure about the reliability of the after sales.

Thanks!

X50 is pretty far from RM200k,
Are u considering B segment SUVs likr HRV?
Whats your ideal price range..

Can share your driving pattern,  single driver?
*
Well, max budget is RM200k - ideally RM100-150k, but would consider more if there is value.
Yes I am considering HRV too, but I read that there are QC issues on it?

Single driver, mostly city drive.
Planning to use it for 10 years at least like my current civic.

As you seem to have an overriding need for reliability, Toyota brand should be top favourite with the Corolla & Cross definitely be the on your test drive list.
*
It is - could say it is one of my top focus, though the Corolla's exterior design is lacking.

Looking at Mazda also, there hasn't been much improvement for the CX-5 over the years eh? I looked at it back in 2012 and design didn't really change much

Do you require CX-5 as a single driver?
It is a rather old model.

There is a long waiting list for the CX-30 instead. Can check it  out but Bermaz after sales some say not as responsive as UMW.
*
Well, not a must but a nice to have.
Heard great things about CX-5 from friends, but yes dated.

I'm guessing in terms of after sales, Toyota and Honda is still top notch? Any clue about Mazda?

let's be real here.
you want to experience the comfort and luxury you see people talk about especially those driving conti/luxury cars.
yet you're still cheap and frugal mode.
looking for something to satisfy your thanos balance?

*
Didn't say I was expecting the comfort and luxury from conti cars. Notice I didn't add BMW/Merc/Volvo or whatever into the brands I'm looking at.

As I haven't really dived into research mode yet, asking the sifus here that has been in touch with the latest car news to narrow down my search.

All I'm asking is, with a budget of RM100 - 200k - which car gives decent value with solid reliability that drives comfortably?

1. Brand : Japanese
2. Budget : 150-200k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Doesn't matter
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : Doesn't matter
7. Type : 4 seater+
8. Remarks : Want one SUV for the occasional interstate travel. The other one, either SUV or Sedan is okay.

Currently looking at new CRV, second hand CX5 or recon Harrier. Can't really decide between those 3. Open to suggestions
Looking to buy 2 cars, upgrade from Honda Civic and Toyota Vios.
Open to Sedan options as well.

Mainly city drive, maybe once or twice a year we'll take it interstate.

Thanks in advance.

For Civic replacement,
Whats your test drive impressions for the CR-V eg the AWD?
As you said the CX5 looks the same since 2012.
How about Accord, moving one segment up, can test drive and feedback here?
Alternatively there are some nice EVs within your range such as BYD Seal. The occasional interstate can be carefully mapped out for charging.

Vios, any issues with current car?
*
Will be test driving the CR-V tomorrow.

Yes, CX5 design hasn't changed in years - so between the 3 shortlisted SUVs, it is ranked the lowest.

Have not considered the Accord actually. Honda stopped selling Accord to my knowledge. So you're referring to secondhand ones?

I've considered the Seal, my worry here is resale value. Pretty sure more efficient EV's will come out in 3-5 years and no one will want to buy a 5 year old EV. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No issues with the Vios, it's 12 years old. So about time to change. Not in a hurry la.

5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : Doesn't matter

8. Remarks :

Still exploring now, haven't test drive any cars yet. But have my eyes on Mazda 3 Sedan/HB, Jaecoo J7 & C9, BYD Seal & Sea Lion.
Btw, I am upgrading from a 2012 Honda Civic if that matters.

From Japanese ICE sedan hatch to China SUV and EV sedan hatch.

Budget aside, suggest narrow down the bodytype and powertrain first. Then list down the priorities - reliability, resale, performance, range, image? What is important eg for daily work city drive?
*
Agreed, that list is all over the place.

I like a SUV, leaning towards ICE and I guess reliability is my #1 priority.
I've heard good things about Mazda's after sales service, but I am not the biggest fan of the CX-5, and the CX30 feels too small, hence willing to consider Mazda 3.

I like the look and features of the Jaecoo C9 but reliability and aftersales is a ? for me. Haven't spoken to owners yet.

if the economy is good, or getting a great job offer next year, foresee mine replacing the 10 years old Accord with Jaeco C9 due to interior factors. Got accustom to car with good NVH via x70 CKD, Honda CKD wont offer that for NVH. My buddies bought CRV hybrid close to rm200k, jump in, the interior just typical, not amazing, plus NVH is still Honda Melaka. can hear the tyre noise. and outside sound if listen carefully

Do you know any owners or heard anything about the reliability or the aftersales of Jaecoo?
