Entry level Subaru Forester for RM119k

Subaru XV for RM90k

It is either they've over anticipated the orders for their cars or sales is really bad.
Two models from the same manufacturer, but why?
One thing the two have in common is a lack of turbo.
Subaru's reputation has been built on a boxer turbo and AWD.
This two models although having a similar boxer engine is tuned to run without a turbo.
Although the power is decent it kind of disappoints it's fan base.
I'm guessing Subaru did so because without a turbo it is less complicated to maintain and cheaper to maintain, so they thought they could really go mass market with this two models to fight against HRV/CX3 (for XV) and CRV/CX5 (Forester). Infact, the XV was launched before the HRV/CX3 and back then the only competition was the Toyota Rush which for me is basically an Avanza with AWD and clever styling. I think XV lost alot of sales and market share when HRV and CX3 launched, only those not willing to wait and wanted a 2000cc engine would've cancelled their orders and went ahead for an XV. I think maintenance for the XV is decent as they did sold quite a number of them before HRV/CX3 came around so there is an incentive for 3rd party parts wholesalers to keep parts for this model. Forester is a good car but it lacks turbo and maintenance isn't going to be cheap as their numbers (even the model with turbo) isn't abundant in our market.

2009 Nissan Dualis 2.0 - this is the JDM version of Nissan X-Trail. Basically, it is exactly the same as the X-trail in terms of engine/gearbox/AWD system except it looks better. Yeah, the X-Trail is a good car and has a good AWD system which you can convert from 2x4 to 4x4 at a touch of a button unlike cars like Honda CRV which is stuck at 4x4 mode all the time. Just for your information the flexibility to change from 2x4 to 4x4 is mostly to do with speed and fuel efficiency, this is because in 4x4 mode the engine needs to work for 4 tires where in 2x4 mode the engine only needs to work for 2 tires so going at higher speeds and saving fuel when 4x4 is not needed but when you need it lets say you're driving on the highway and you see dark clouds ahead and wanna go into 4x4 mode just in case you need the extra grip cause of heavy rain/flood then to go from 2x4 all you need to do is drive slower to about 40-60kmh press the 4x4 button and the car/computer does the rest. Unlike pickup trucks where you need to go to an R&R stop and do the change, the system on Nissan X-trail/Dualis can do this without a need to stop. In a nutshell the Dualis is as cheap to maintain as an X-trail and you can think of it as one but of course JDM quality build inside and outside is better, just only time parts would get expensive is during an accident but then usually it would be covered by insurance if it is an expensive fix so not much to worry.
Thanks for your advise, I've decided to opt for the XV.
