Looking at 2013 GS250/GS350. Any current owner can share any problems with this car?

I have a Hilux 2012 that I plan to trade-in.
Currently driving Altis 2015 2.0v which has been problem-free and reliable. Just feel like trying v6 RWD car that is reliable.

I service/maintain my own car. Also, have a trusted mechanic where I can bring parts and he charge labor for complicated repairs.

Dear Sifus, please enlighten me. Planning to change my daily workhorse, <20km daily commute.
Current car (first car):
2005 vios clocked in 160,000km with 0 current issues.

Due to safety concerns I plan to purchase
used Mazda 6 2.5 2015 60k 5years loan

with all maintenance & road tax considered, is it a feasible choice?

if me i would go for new car with semi-autonomus (ADAS/Sensing) such as City hatchback/X50, since is for daily short distance commute car, smaller car easier parking.
*
Those cars are around 90k ballpark figure which is 50% more budget compared to the Mazda 6.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I checked carlist, the 2017 Myvi 1.5L AV sells for around 38k, while the new Myvi 1.5L AV is 58k. Is buying a new Myvi worth the 20k premium?

Also, any advice on used Toyota/Honda cars?
*
Depending on the used car rate you can get, sometimes the difference in installment is quite negligible.
For used Toyotas/Hondas - go with the staples Vios/City.
Altis 2014/15/16 probably can consider also, but take note used car interest is high.

Hi to all Sifu

Planning to buy a recond 2017 Lexus RX200T F-Sport
SA quoted 285k but the car still in shipment

Have viewed the new Harrier and CX-8
Harrier interior not liking
CX-8 too sempit
So up abit budget SA intro this RX

Many ppl said Lexus are quite reliable
Im trying to avoid European brand due to that
Was wondering if sifu here have any comment on the 2017 RX before putting deposit?
*
lol
this price point can get rx300 2018 version

RX is using 2.0 turbo engine, that has been discontinued. This is actually the shortest lifespan engine in Lexus history.
Maintenance should be easy and reliable. A lot of workshops specialise in repair of Lexus vehicles.
Fuel economy is rated at 450km for RM 130 worth of Petrol (RON 95). Occasionally you'll get the "Loss Power" error in your console. A quick restart will fix the issue. This is due to RON 95 and JP Rx 2.0 engine. For best result stick with RON 97.

Hello guys. Need consultation whether my choice below is alright

1. Brand: Toyota Hilux/ Ford Ranger/ Pick Up Truck
2. Budget: ≤ RM140,000
3. New/Used/Unreg: Used (1-2 Years)
4. Specs: Preferable with Camera + Touch Screen, lots of modern sensor that will prevent accident
5. Transmission: Automatic
6. NA or FI: No preference
7. Type: Pick Up
8. Remarks: Planning to upgrade my old Hilux (2005) to the new one. Daily car for delivery, pick up, and even go to the rural area that only pickup truck is accessible. Have Toyota Rogue in mine, but there are too many options. Looking for 2nd hand (that will save me at least 10~20k) will do.
*
Bro that kind of budget, just get brand new.
Have you seen used car rate? 3.x%
Compare that to new car rate 2.4%

and you'll quickly see the initial savings of 20k is not a lot

Toyota Corolla Cross, but since you're not going to get the price with SST exempted, you can hold and wait and see the HRV
then decide

second hand price on steroid now
best time to sell, not buy
wait government announce fuel subsidy no more
then u might see used cars dropping price

Hey guys,

Need some input. I know this sounds a little bit weird for comparison, but I'm looking to buy a new car. My choice is :

2016-2018 Accordana vs 2014-2016 Altis.

Yes, its a D segment vs C segment. I know. But reasons why I am picking this 2 is :

1. Price (Not much diff between this 2)
2. Comfort (I have 2 kids and i travel alot)
3. Maintenance cost (basically its Honda and Toyota so yeah)

Although I do like Ioniq and Mazda 3 but i ruled out those 2 simply because of their maintenance cost are higher.
*
Since got 2 kids probably you want a more comfort ride. Hence the Accord is a better choice.
Maintenance cost both should be the same, unless you service at service center then that's a different story.

In terms of fuel economy, Altis will be better. Whether you get 2.0 or 1.8 you're going to get around 12-13km/L (city) and 15-17km/L (Highway) if you drive like a normal sane person.

14-16 version of Altis prone to premature aircond compressor failure so save up if your car is reaching 100,000-150,000km mileage.

QUOTE(zodius @ Jul 29 2022, 02:21 AM)
1. Brand : Any brand will do
2. Budget : max 120k
3. New/Used/Unreg : new or used is ok
4. Specs : above 1.5
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI : non-hybrid
7. Type : MPV/SUV
8. Remarks : I am looking for a daily commuter car that can do long distance travel once in a while and can last for at least another 10+years. preferable to have flat cargo space when 2nd /3rd row is folded down and no need to worry much on the maintenance. max 4 adult.

I am currently considering the new Alza while waiting for  Toyota Veloz launch but the extreme long waiting time made me consider used car, but i have no experience to deal with it before so am hesitating. I am checking on used 2018 Subaru XV I-P 2.0 and 2019 HR-V both roughly 95-100k, are this 2 cars a good car that will not cost me a fortune for their maintenance? This will be my only car for usage after all so I want to keep the so called "prone to defect" issue as little as possible.

I am also looking for any other option as well, thanks in advance for your feedback! smile.gif
*
Cargo space? Alza hands down.
If you can wait get the new car otherwise used is fine as well. They're notoriously known for their reliability and excellent fuel efficiency.
Just less power.

Hi all,

I'd like to purchase a new car within the next few months. I wonder if this is a bad time to purchase a new car? sad.gif
Currently just starting to consider Yaris, Vios, Bezza and Honda City, but there's so much details to look at and I feel overwhelmed and have no idea where to begin compring the pros and cons. With that being said, please do recommend any good options that will fit my need. Thanks!
*
Best time to own a car was 30 years ago when cars imported here are not subjected to draconian import tax and excise duty.
With that said, you can't control SST exemption anyway. But look at the bright side.

People who booked Vios may save that significant 4-5k during exemption period, but if you buy new Vios you'll get the new much better looking Vios with TNGA platform.
At the end of the day, resale value of older cars will be affected.

7. Type : sedan
8. Remarks :

Loan finished so I wanted to replace my current saga flx. Requirements:

1. Reliable
Since it will be the only transport in the house, so better stay away from workshop except for periodic maintenance.

2. Comfort
Family of 2 but occasionally travel together with parents on weekends. Need a good NVH comparing to current car (feels like shouting in conversation when driving 🥲). Also travelling KL-KB-KL in saga break my pinggang.

Extra: can fold back seat

2 weeks of reading conclude me to this list

Hyundai Elantra 1.6 FL
Kia Cerato K3
VW Vento 1.6
Vios/Almera/City

Special mention is Haval H1..situ zenix mention a lot in suggestions but dunno about reliability..
*
Elantra and Cerato easily hands down.
You get more value for your money as the first owner is probably crying foul over the depreciation of the car.
Korean car are best to buy used as you don't stand to lose out from the common misconception tied to depreciation of Korean car.

Been looking for a used car with a rm30,000 budget cash.

1) Polo Sedan 1.6L 2012/2013 rm23,000
2) Corolla Altis 2009 1.8L  rm28,000
3) Mazda 3 2012 2.0L rm27,000

Which of the above seem a better buy in terms of Reliability ,

btw, Fuel consumption and Resale Value is not my main concern but Reliability is the main issue cause I dun want to call tow truck or carrier every now & again.

Another thing to note, cost of replacement parts like parts availability needs to be taken into consideration and availability of finding specialist workshop need to be taken into consideration too, eg can any normal workshop be able to repair a Polo Sedan or need specific workshop ?

Thanks guys.

Reliability and availability of parts?
Toyota Altis.

Can just walk in any spare parts shop confirm got parts for this car.

B. Shouldn't be an issue for us, just thinking whether does it make financial sense to buy a 6y.o C segment SUV @ 90k vs fork out additional 50k (around 140k) to get a new HRV or CX30

It depends. Will this be a cash purchase or you will seek financing from banks?
