even if wait for 1080ti, how much do you think it's gonna be?

and what exactly will you be getting? for 1080p and 1440p, you can already play at ultra settings with the current 1080. Heck the 1070 might also be good enough as well. Only remaining issue is ultra 4k playable fps, which 1080 is kinda close to reaching that goal.

a 1080ti will still be the same architecture, just have more of it crammed in, and at a cost.

1080ti would be awesome if we could get it for the same price as what 1080 was, but i doubt thats gonna happen, so why wait? unless your gaming on 4k with a 4k resolution screen  hmm.gif  (then obviously the 1080ti would make more sense waiting for).
my point exactly  sad.gif

Weird, with my 1070 I get 55-70+ fps on GTA5 with max details and grass and I'm only running at 1080p. Need more details on what graphical settings they had when they benchmarked GTA5.
*
Did you tick the "Ignore Suggested Limit" checkbox? Probably that. I crank everything up on mine as well, so that checkbox is the first thing I tick. I even dragged the draw distance bar to the furthest I can without tanking my FPS too much.

On second thought, cancel that. There's tons of other variables in the game that isnt mentioned what settings they put it on. I tried on 4K and I get between 55-70fps depending on settings/levels are set. Unless they mention settings specifics, can't be sure.

RX 480 outperforms the GTX 970 on average but... far behind the GTX 1070 (expected it to be closer). At this rate, I think GTX 1060 might be faster than the RX 480.

Still, for those on an ancient/ageing card wanting to play the latest games at highest settings 1080p, this is an amazing buy.

Bang for the buck indeed. As in the bang you'll hear when your motherboard goes up in smoke. Hopefully just the motherboard, coz it'll no longer be a "budget system" when you have to replace everything.

That's because people here wants "all the bangs, but dont want to spend the bucks".

They'll get a different kind of "bang" with the RX480 because of that.

Because hot air exhausted OUTSIDE the case (reference cards) is always better than lingering hot air circulating INSIDE the case (as in the case of AIB cards).

I'm partial to both, but "right tools for the right task". Some of us are running SFF builds, and fat cards in SFF case is like a obese person trying to fit through a crack on a wall.

I see where AIB cards hold its appeal, only thing is, YOU are now responsible in exhausting the hot air out of the case. And when some of the budding new users building their system cant even grasp the concept of why GPUs can kill motherboards, and you leave the task of vacating those hot circulating air inside an open case to themselves? Some of them even skimped on fans, "because noisy", and left one intake and one outake, with less that ideal positive airflow going out of the case.

Lessons are learned, that's the nature of doing something new. But at the expense of the cost you paid for choosing the wrong component for the wrong reason. "Right tools for the right task" again.

Personally to me, AIB cards looks hideous. When I have certain themes in my build, they either clashes with that theme, or even when they're the same color, they look like they're designed by a 7-8 year old that play with big giant robot toys with neon lights.

And that is why I had to creat my own acrylic backplates even though I can't cut a straight line properly. biggrin.gif

Which why I didn't like Zotac's backplate.

GALAX HOF range for example is another on that's hard to match.
*
You and me both are willing to go that extra mile to make them match. Others I've seen dont even give a shit to aesthetics anymore and when their builds are finished and you look through the open side panel, it looks like rainbow alright......but like someone vomited rainbow paint in odd location inside the case and think that's beautiful.

Just look at all the examples you see from the recent Computex 2016: Neons and RGBs everywhere. I guess the 2016 motto is, "if you cant improve on your aesthetic designs, blind them with RGB". LOL!

Is your i7 4790K overclocked? I am wondering whether it does impact the scores for Unigine Heaven.

4.8Ghz CPU OC, and 1080 OCed to 2012Mhz core 10800Mhz memory.

thanks for sharing , I guess I can still use the processor until it completely hold me back .

Cant really push my 1080 much anything more than 2025 core will crash . Temp is around 72c

is that good for full load ?
*
Better than mine on temp, but mine is inside an SFF case. 2012 core 10800 memory 78C temp. your scores are very good, I'd say. thumbup.gif

this is the FE right? whats your fan curve? room ambient temps?

my current 780 is chugging at 86C max with just 100/400MHz OC

would be nice to see if the new cooler with reduced TDP can decently cool with right fan curve
*
FE. 60% fan all the time with custom V/F curve. Rig is behind TV, with aircon blowing onto it. Room temp 24-26C.

Im not worried about the temp. Core clock stayed at 2012Mhz core clock 10800Mhz memory clock all the time, right up to that 78C.

82C is the throtlling wall, so right up to 82c, your core and memory OC stays at whatever it needs to right up to the maximum you've set (in my case 2012/10800) and the card stays 78C at maximum load, drops to 55-60C at normal gaming run.

upgrade upgrade rclxms.gif Star Citizen can be quite taxing i heard. Deus Ex Mankind Divided not sure got down graded or not. not forgetting Battlefield 1 too.
*
If that game ever released. Alpha version 2 already. People usually stop once past 0.99. tongue.gif

Maybe when that game releases, nobody cares anymore already. Or have games like No Man's Sky already replacing its interest.

No Man's Sky also delay la and overhyped, still curious on the actual gameplay. Star Citizen looks really good visual wise, NMS is more stylized graphics. I dont see either overlapping or replacing as they both have own niche.
*
At least NMS got release date. Star Citizen? A big fat "2016". Can be tomorrow, can be 31st December 2016 at 11:59:59. Bleh.

In the meantime, I play Elite Dangerous on VR.

Not a huge fan either, but because "Steam Summer Sale". Star Citizen is more interesting to me because of the encompassing aspect of the game, from cockpit to internal view in FPS, and then space battles.

I just bought SFV, I made a promise to myself that I wont be buying it in its prevous form because no story mode and no arcade. Only made for online play. Bleh. Now they added Story Mode, still no arcade, they as you play Survival if want to play arcade mode. At least it's cheaper, because "Steam Summer Sale".
