im not made of money  sweat.gif ,those cameras are probably going to cost a bomb additionally whats wrong with making use of what you have already and adapting it. how about i ask in a round about way...what camera if any are you using x.D?
*
Depending how much you define a bomb is. An Ikelite housing is definitely a bomb for me.

What camera one will use depends on what they intend to shoot. Some are into macro photography, some are into wide angle shots, some are into I-saw-a-whale-shark-here-is-the-proof. There are many reasonable compact cameras that are good for land and water use (with a housing, usually up to 40-60m depth), price depends on what type of camera and what type of housings. There is also a wide range of action cams, like the SJcam (RM300 or so, up to 30m) or XiaoYi (RM400 or so, up to 40m) if GoPro is too expensive. Of course don't expect quality footage from those cameras, but it serves it purpose. Trying to find a housing for an old camera might be less cost effective than getting a cheap action cam.

And actually, once you have a camera, you miss out on a lot of things. So sometimes it's very much fun to just enjoy the moment instead of capturing it.

totally agree on this! surprising how many needs and wants changes after a few more dives, and listening to all the otais compare stuffs and experiences! and definitely stacking on task when you're not comfortable with the basic ones like bouyancy and breathing and finning, will have big problems during dives, or when dives suddenly become challenging in the middle of the dive!
*
Yea I remember not being able to stay still at all during safety stop. Up down up down non stop hahaha. Ended up always getting so disorientated. My buoyancy was terrible until about 40 dives or so. Then again, I didn't dive very often then. sweat.gif

Signed up with B&J for either advance/fun dive not sure yet, recommended to stay which area ar?

Salang or ABC?

Heard ABC is nearer to Tekek which is more convenient?

I prefer the one with more decent beach and if possible some night life too, thanks.
*
Most divers stay in Salang. I've not stayed in ABC, but only went to ABC to eat pizza and have drinks at night.

Tekek, nothing much. Kampung life and B&J isn't there. No point for you to bother about Tekek if you're going with B&J. I do prefer Tekek because cheaper food and better phone connection and quieter too.

Salang doesn't exactly have a decent beach. ABC's beach is pretty nice (as far as I can tell in the middle of the night at Sunset bar lol).

Accommodation in Salang is very basic though. Salang has quite some night life.

The person told me from ABC go tekek is 10 minutes walk? Is it true? I prefer a relaxing trip where can chill on beach after dive during evening, if so ABC sounds better?

Just read trip advisor for BnJ, they require refresher course if didn't dive for more than 1 year. I did my OW last July and didn't manage to have time to dive, but going Tenggol on Oct and most likely Tioman next year. Both paid deposit during MIDE.

Any other place for me to do refresher? Perhaps pool dive? PJ palm pool?
*
Yes, 10 minutes walk thru the path, but Tekek is huge. Once you cross over to Tekek, it's the marine park. Nothing much there. If you wanna walk to Tekek beach from ABC takes a long time. Land taxi from marine park to Tekek beach there, I took once cause legs patah edi, was about RM20 per car.

Most places require you to do refresher. Anywhere also can do. Just call up the dive centers. Or any DMs can also do for you. tagreptiles

just wanna check with you guys.  does anyone bring the Reg and BCD as hand carry (airasia, MAS) without any problems/questions from the AA/MAS?

next trip wanna do hand carry but wonder they allowed or not. thanks.
*
I usually bring regulator hand carry. But be careful in Philippines because their law there doesn't allow any hand carry item that looks like hoses. So regulator cannot hand carry there. A friend also was asked to check in his reg while flying mas from Miri to KK or something like that.

But generally it's fine. Some ppl wear on their BCD into the flight also.

*
As long as you visit their shop during their opening hours, you can go in.

I dived Phuket once in early August. The sea was sooooo rough.

Was supposed to do 2 days of diving, ended up cancelling the 2nd day because the sea was really rough.
