For aluminum if you buy Luxfer or Catalina you should be alright regardless where it's made. Try Rainbow Runner or Scuba Warehouse.
*
yeah luxfer made in USA, last if i recall correctly RR selling rm600-700 for 1 tank.

At May 2016 I was eager to take a diving course but eventually did not because I found out that it requires swimming and water treading test. I knew neither.

Now a year has passed, at 24/5/2017 I am a certified PADI Open Water diver now!
Took me nearly 7 months to learn swimming and water treading, and I am still learning my last stroke type, butterfly, then I will finish learn all 4 competitive swimming strokes.

Glad to be able to join the club finally!

Now looking forward to Advance Open Water course.
*
Congrats!!
I dont even know how to swim the butterfly stroke. Haha
Plan any diving trips so far?

I could stop the swimming class now since my purpose of joining the swimming class is to prepare myself for PADI Open Water and that objective has already been achieved now. However I tell myself once started something let's end it completely and nicely, so I will continue to learn till I acquire all competitive swimming strokes then I will withdraw from the class.

Haven plan any trip again so far. I just got the certification 3 days ago, I am still in the rest mood laugh.gif

But I have already sign up a PADI Advance course during MIDE 2017, will be taking place in Tioman Island. Most likely will do it middle of next year, in between now and then will probably go somewhere to dive, just to make sure I do not over the 6 months period. Hate to do a refresh course.
Pulau Tenggol interest me at the moment.

But I guess I need to at least buy a dive computer first? After the OW course this seems to be the most important equipment to be owned.

ironically, the dive computer was the last thing that i bought, after mask, fins, BCD, reg and wetsuit. however, i would say that the most convenient piece of equipment to be owned, although i would say, get mask and fins as well. open heel with booties

Did something foolish today... Was on the boat and reaching back to open my tank valve. Turned it a few times but didn't feel my hoses pressurize. Then i realized that i was unscrewing my transmitter sweat.gif

Throughout my OW course I only used full fin. Never had chance to use open heel.
Can you tell me what is the difference? Other than the fully cover fin freaking hard to put my foot into.

Yup. Good to get a dive comp first as well as a few basic equipment.

sometimes, you have to walk to dive sites or to boats, having booties protects your feet. also, on the boat, having booties give you better grip. wearing open heel fins is much faster and easier, and you are less likely to get blisters on your feet, especially if you dive more than 2 times a day. but a booties + open heel is much more expensive, but for me, pros far outweighs the price difference

Blister, yes you are right, because I had it during one of the day in my OW.
Okay then it is no doubt I am going to get booties + open heel if it can avoid the blister.
Thanks for the info.

if you want to go on the cheap, just wear a normal cotton sock

for closed fin

Haha same as me. I was diving for a couple of years and got everything else including camera, but dive comp was the last. Though I can't dive without a dive comp now.

Yeah actually that's not the end of it... after I rescrewed it and repressurized, the transmitter o-ring popped because I didn't screw it in tightly enough sweat.gif Luckily I could recover it and save the dive. O-ring has two scratches in it now, it's not leaking but I'll get it replaced just in case...
