I think we need to move away from this hype about car mats/carpets.

What's the point of protecting the original mats? This only benefits the person who is going to buy the car from u some years down the line and it doesn't add to your resale value at all.

I realised how foolish I was when my previous Toyota Vios was sold after 9.5 years with near perfect car mats and it made no difference to the resale value while I had to endure cleaning and taking out 2 sets of car mats for 9.5 years.

That's why when I got my K5 in 2012 and sold last year, I didn't use any car mats and the original mats were just as good. No issue at all.

Plus in many cases the aftermarket car mats/carpets can actually be a safety hazard inhibiting pedal movements or movement when getting in and out.

Sometimes we are just too kiasu and just because someone else does it, we assume it must be the 'right' thing to do.

But that's the thing rite. We keep saying its to trap dirt but why do we want to trap anything? We wash our cars every week anyway so just go and clean. Why do we need to buy a mat to trap anything for 1 week? Trap and do what?

This is the same as the petrol companies telling ppl RON97 is good and more power. Same crap the accessories shop tell new car owners to entice them to buy tis and tat. That's why there are so many car accessories shops like mushrooms everywhere.

The worse time to go shopping for car accessories is immediately after u get yor new car. The hype and the euphoria of a new car is at its max. Give it 3 months and u wont bother buying tis n that.

I think we should focus on what's important rather than waste money on unnecessary stuff. At the end of the day, our cars are already a loss the day it leaves the showroom.

I think we need to rid ourselves of this B segment mentality of buying car mats.

This clearly indicates 2 things:

1) You were never a serious buyer in the first place. Probably just a wannabe trying to be someone on thread
2) You have very little knowledge about cars. The Vento is crap. Super basic with a 10 yr old design. I would choose the City over the Vento any day.

You can't gauge FC like that. It has to be using the 'fill-measure-use-fill-measure' method.

Next best is to get the average reading from the start to the end of the journey.

You are missing out some important bits of info. When discussing tints always provide the following general info:

1) Brand
2) Price
3) IRR
4) VLT
5) TSER
6) Break strength (for security tints)
7) Warranty terms (manufacturer or shop warranty)
8) Warranty duration

Was at the Honda Bukit Bintang showroom just now. There was a 1.8L white test drive car outside. After seeing the white up close, it doesn't seem that impressive. The Toyota Altis white is actually much better.

Haven't test drove any Civic yet.

Nope only saw it driving past quickly at Honda Jln Damansara.

But just now spent about 5 mins walking around the white Civic at the showroom.

The unit I saw was outside in front of the showroom.

Regal Valet is offering a 20% discount for Raya. But if there are about 3-5 Civic owners who do their coating together, then they can offer a further 10-15% discount.

This is for their MOHS+ coating. I already bought for my wife's Civic at RM2,180 but that's only for that particular weekend.

And yes they are Premium car detailer.

The BMW group nobody blanks out number plate. Sometimes we don't need to be so kiasu la. As if we driving RM1mil car.

Normal price is RM3,500.

Don't forget there are many types of coating in the market. U can get the super cheap Sierra Glow for RM700 or the more upmarket ones like Regal Valet's GYEON coating.

Plus once u do the coating, you can sign up for the best and cheapest car wash in Klang Valley. The Regal Valet Auto Bath Spa is only RM60 per month for unlimited washes and internal cleaning. Really good value for money.

When I got for my wife last week, it was 4 years.

My own car is 2 years but they aren't particular.

Besides the product itself, what's equally important is the cost of maintenance and warranty terms. Most car spas charge a lot for their after care. Normal car washes will be about RM20-25 at their place if not warranty void. Plus need to send for 'coating maintenance' after 6-12 months if not warranty void too.

I used Regal Valet's GYEON MOHS+ coating on my on car in Dec 2015 and I like them because:

1) The coating is really good. After 7 months, the water beading effect off the windscreen and car body is still good.
2) Their car wash (using good shampoo) is cheap. Only RM60 per month for unlimited washes & vacuum.
3) Their car wash is really good. Their cleaning is top notch. No dirt smudges, etc. Even the car engine bay is cleaned.
4) Customer service from the owners is good. They are contactable on hp, whatsap and FB. Very professional and they respond fast to complaints
5) RV is not calculative. For the sake of customer satisfaction, they go the extra mile.
6) While your car is being washed, u can relax in the comfort of the aircon launge with comfortable sofa's, good reading materials, TV and drinks.
7) Open daily from 8.30am to 7pm.

Don't worry. Im not promoting them cuz I get a cut from the owners. I'm just happy with their service so far and would like others to also benefit from it.

If you have more doing it at the same time, then easier to nego a good price.

But you need to leave your car for 2 days. They need time to do a good job.
