Aiyo...
Why ppl always take shortcuts and just one button away and get all the answers?

We have been talking about this 1080p, 1080i, 720p many times even in this thread alone and many other thread as well. I even posted a link for a video explaination on the above.

So, for jackygwh, for info, part of the fun is getting to know what you are getting. You build the love slowly. Then, only you will appreciate what you got.

Actually, I was planning to get PS3 or Xbox 360 or Wii but think think think... I am already a big fan of couch potato ever since I got my projector... and if I get those... I will not leave the sofa for even longer time.

Haiz...

You know... I placed my PJ at around 13-15feet away from screen. I had a self made mounting bracket. And I can't get the projector projects nicely onto my screen... that was with AX100... manual lens shift and 2x zoom... If I were to use a 1.2x zoom... no mechanical lens shift... I guess I'd jump down my apartment already....

Anyway... JAson... If I were to buy Epson I might need your help... kekeke...

Jason... ok, I think I can make it this Saturday. Kekekeke....

For Jacky... if you are looking for a 480p projector, no point spending all your money on it and might regret it later. Get smething cheap. There is Infocus selling in Harvey Norman at around RM2999.00. May be you want to try. But... if you think you can accept it, there is another ruby hidden outside. Yup... its obsolete already (so does 4805) but I think they still sell it. Try Panny AE900. It got one of the best reviews before. I have tested it side by side with AX100, if you have a controlled light room, then its superb. Only flaw is, due to their no pixels style, the focus is a bit blur.

Kakakka... getting a Sony HD LCD will cost you more than 10k if not mistaken. Sure got terms and condition.

Anyway, Jacky... since you already put up RM5k as budget... why not add few more hundred and get the Epson 700? I can't recomend you the AX100 as it has some prob now.

You can click on my siggy on my stuff (home theater)

No le... list price is RM5999... similar to Panny AX100... list is RM6999 but I think you can get way cheaper than that.

For Optoma HD70... well... one thing... I think I have repeated many times and worry some ppl might stab me very soon... Kekeek... But this time, I think I better say something else...

In USA, the list price for AX100 is $1999... HD70 is onlu $999... no need to say much... 1 sen give get 1 sen goods...

I don't have any idea on TW600... but yeah... Epson was one of the few brands many Americans talk about...

Ah... last night I was watching Nacho Libre... nice movie...

Well, we'll see but memang around this month smile.gif

@Jacky: Yup, although their not HD Ready, If fed with Hi-def, looks awesome, my brother owns a 4805 and when he feeds it with upscaled DVD, stunning! Imagine true, true HD like HD-DVD and Blu-ray!

You haven't see a 720p projects out using HDMI somore... brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

Like orgasm only...

Jacky... by just pulling down your screen will still emits light. When JAson mentioned a light controlled room... meaning you can have a pitch black room that when all the lights are switched off, you will be like a blindman.

Now, when u pay RM5k and below and slightly more like RM6k for 480p and 720p... its something like getting a Proton Iswara and Proton Waja.

Yeah... both also can take you to the destination but the feeling is different. And, Iswara is old technology... Waja is newer technology with Lotus design... kekeke...

I am not using Honda or Merz coz the 720p is only up to Waja level only. Kekekeke

Of course I have, I lepak at mediaplex every week watch Pearl, Ruby, and HC5000 fed by HD-DVD and Blu-ray, 1080p somemore! laugh.gif

Your AX100 is not a Waja ler. It's a Lotus Elise - Might be cheap but the performance is like a Ferrari!
*
Mana ada? My AX100 is like Waja only... or if you really want to name something more expensip... then u can smart car... kekekeke... name only nice, everyone talk about... but all problem come come...

QUOTE(Jackygwh @ Apr 11 2007, 06:05 PM)
i watch at night i think if pull down the screen no light from outside will come in lah rite tongue.gif

btw i see ur thread liau.......y all ppl paint in red  blink.gif  if my wall is white.......can ?? and no money renovate ofcourse  cry.gif
*
I also think like you in the first place. Even my curtain I made normal instead of black out cloth... now I regret thinking whether I want to buy a new set of black out cloth for my curtain.

As the wall color, black absorb light and white reflects. If I have a dedicated room, the whole room will be carpeted or use velvet as my acoustic wall... and all black or dark blue only... kekekeke

QUOTE(psp _BOY @ Apr 11 2007, 08:50 PM)
U should go for a darker colour like burgundy, red, navy, brown, because i think white bounces the light from the screen to the room - very irritating i guess.

IN72's DC2 is by no means old, although DC3 is here, It can still produce neat blacks and more than acceptable contrast ratio, the only problem is it's light output, but that wouldn't be a problem since 1080p isn't meant for screens larger than 96", but if u have space and a light controlled room, I'd say 100" is fine.
*
Well, you can't follow the technology that fast... but getting a 480p at slightly cheaper than those 720p is really not worth it. Might as well save some money and don't buy ham tai so much... in few much, you will get the money to buy and those 720 might be even cheaper by then... again... poor man pays twice.

I do not envy newcomers to Home Theatre, the learning curve is steep indeed.  There is so much information to be digested, decisions to be made... one word... tough.

Those of us 'veterans' have been through it, we have asked countless questions on various forums.  Read opinions or different reviewers and users of the same equipment to get different points of views.  Did feature, function and cost comparisons.  I guess this is the school fees that one has shell out.

Now we are trying to visualise projectors as cars... keeps things interesting.  I think the TW700 and AX100 is like the Mazda Miata (since Japanese), a mid range sports car.... just good engineering  and like psp_boy said, can perform like Ferrari.  Cannot be Wajalah since not Made in Malaysia.

Finally, about light controlled room.  Not that the room must be dark, if you remember your last time at the theatre... it was not completely dark.  They have some lights on while the movie is playing.  By light controlled, I mean you are able to determine how much AND where the light shines.  E.g. some wall lights with dimmer function that shine up and down is quite acceptable... this is to set the moodlah.  But a table lamp, moon light or street lamp light shining on to the screen is a big no no.  The light should not be between you and the screen as well.

Since bro Tim started this, I thought it would be good to contribute what we watch on our projectors.  Last weekend I watched Lady in the Water.  Full of suspense, both photography and sound effects are really good.  My heart jumped out of my chest more than once during the movie... plus I still have my wife's hand grip marks on my arm. tongue.gif  I like M. Night Shyamalan's work. Recommended.
*
Kekekek... I don't have miata ma... but I also don't have Waja... so how? Anyway... you guys can check my thread also... I just added some pics on problems I am having with the AX100...

Regarding movies... well, I was watching Edward Scissorhands... didn't finish it... but it is such a nice movie.

Nice color... and for the first time, I can see clearly the make up on Johnny Depp

Actually, how I wish there are more choices...
More options...
But heck... this is because we have gone through all the hard work finding out... and end up with only 1 or 2 choices... No homework means too many choices... tongue.gif

Yup... seems like MAlaysians don't really like to buy projector. They'd rather buy LCD or plasma as they can watch their lovely Astro Valai toi... or Vanavil chanel. Kekeke...
I've been telling u guys... until today, its my best investment I've done with my hard earn money so far...

Hi,

I really dont blame them  ... I am up to my eyeballs in work and yet still have to find time to get de wiring/cables/powerpoints up  - adding a shelf (in my case) to de back wall to place de Projector and last but not least to get de screen done and put up (I am customising own screen cos no money to get de branded ones)...

In retrospect, if just go get Flat Panels can just buy / take home / plug in and enjoy liao...hehehe

Now if they can only market a 100 inch one for RM5k...

Great write up dirtrun. Unlike Timothyy, I don't need pics.... coz we are EpsonTW700 braders oledi.  So I know what you see smile.gif .  BW how far do you sit from thw screen and is the pixel structure visible.  If it is visible does it bother you?

Unfortunately, the projector is not a simple plug and play thingamajik like the LCD/Plasma/CRT set top boxes.  I think you have to either build or convert your living room into a HT room to realise its full benefits.  As such aside from the initial RM6k+ outlay, still have to think about the renovation, screen, and the list goes on.

I watched Ultraviolet this afternoon, the colours are nice.  Action sequence is really good and the fact that Milla has a nice bod is just bonus.... she did all the action sequence herself.  Story is so so onilah.  Actually I watch before on my 29inch, just wanted to watch it again on de big skrin again.  Then just to give the audio section a further workout, I put on Eagles Hell Freezes over.
*
Wa liu... now the Epson gang together bully me already.

Anyway... finished watching Edward Scissorhands. Damn nice.
