While price japan is a good source for electronics direct from Japan, the products that they sell comes with a Japan ONLY warranty.  So if you have any problems you will need to send it back to Japan AT YOUR OWN COST.  If you want to shop internationally then Hong Kong's Hivizone is a better bet and with better prices.  All their projectors come with international warranty.

I have said tis many times and the experienced members in this thread have also said it many times.......you can get similarly priced HT Projectors in Malaysia if you are willing to shop around and nego a bit.  Save yourself the hassle and buy locally, you are assured of an International Warranty, if not then at least local warranty.  And if you are buying a Panny... you do not want to be without a warranty, as bro Tim will attest to!!!

Buying electronic goods without warranty is like going Genting only.
If you wanna buy overseas, its the same as NO WARRANTY. Anything goes wrong, you eat yourselves.

Calling for more reviews of HT Projectors.  If you are passionate about Projectors and have a penchant for writing, please post up a review of a projector that you have viewed or one that you own.  Ne or old does not matter.

I nearly bought a nice Masterrings Sofa yesterday to match with my projector. Luckily didn't. Not because it didn't look good... but because my house won't be able t accomodate.

Haiz...
It was 10 ft long anyway...
Adjustable headrest, loose foot stool....
The sales guy is still calling me...

Might not be a good buy actually. It looks more like a multimedia projector rather than home theater projecor. But hope you will enjoy it. At one time, someone was selling his AE-700, he was the same guy I bought the HDMI cable from. Not sure whether he is still in Malaysia or not.

But just word of advise, save a little longer and spend on a good new unit. You will not regret of every sen/cent you spent on it.

QUOTE(mpyw @ Dec 6 2007, 08:41 AM)
yks...that's a good price but it's not a 16:9 projector, it's a normal 4:3.

last night I day dream of renovating my living hall into mini theater, and wondering where should I put my AV equipment to save the length of the HDMI cables....and I'll need to buy a HDMI switcher that have at least 2 out, 1  to the TV and 1 to the projector cos' have no intention to change the receiver...also, will hang the TV on the wall and the projector screen will be those roll up type that when roll down will be in front of the TV and rolled up when not in use....

but only day dream...cos the new cabinet itself will cost thousands, not to mention the 1080p projector and screen...and I have no money to begin with.... biggrin.gif

maybe I'll made it come through some of these days....and my wife ask me when I tell her this, she said, "You got money meh???" sad.gif
*
The only way you can save your cable is when you have a HDMI amplifier or switcher. But to have TV and projector at the same place will surely need you to have a very long HDMI cable. HE!@ HE!

But heck... don't always say no money, this year cannot buy, wait for next year. Drink less beer and teh tarik... You will note that your bnk account grow faster...

Bro sometimes after I look at the list price, I don't even want to bargain.... Even after 40-60% off, which is usually what I can bargain for furniture, I still don't think the set is worth that amount.
Congratulations on your purchase, you just bought youself a multimedia projector.  I guess its as good a starting place as any for a Home Theatre enthusiast.  Here is my take:
1. Lumen count is a bit low but may not be an important factor in your evironment
2. Contrast ratio is a bit on the low side, tell us what you think about the colours compared to your TV.
3. Noise level 34dB.... this is on the high side again, could be a distraction.
4. Lamp 4000 hrs is really good
5. Price ok..... dunnolah, as long as you are satisfied.

I would tend to agree that you should have stretched a bit more and gotten a proper HT Projector, Sony are offering 2 budget Projectors at around RM3-4k.
I don't use optical, normal shielded coax cable is just as good since no need to convert the signal so many times.... once at the source and then another time at the receiver.  For an optical cable, I don think you can go wrong with any brand or make.

He! He!... on the Sofa... actually when I brought my wife over, she also nearly wanted to confirm the set. So, may be we have yet to check othher place but heck... this sofa is comfortable.

Regarding the projector, htkaki is selling the Optoma 70 at RM4.3k right? I have tested that and its actually is a good/ok projector. Only thing I don't like is the lens flexibility. zoom only 1.2x.

Bought an INFOCUS IN24+ projector for night movies in my bedroom.

Projected at around 100" on my light yellow wall. Distance between the wall and projector is 4m.

As this is a 4:3 screen size, while watching DVD on 16:9 there are 2 thick black bars on top and bottom. doh.gif

Managed to captured some snap shots while watching Fantastic 4.

anyone here using / ever own an infocus sp4805?? just wanna share pointers coz i have bought for cheap  a couple of months back....love it but just hate the fan noise...

and u guys know of any upconverting dvd player that would upconvert via component? my infocus has no hdmi input, only component...still ol skool..hehe.

And do this upconvert dvd player really bring better pics to dvd 480p sources? cant realy find reviews on this...

cheers
*
Infocus 4805 is on of the best old timer home projector (for lower range la).
Of course, it is of 480p. What you can do is, read from this topic and also "Which HDMI Player". Both will give you some clues.

Heard that Samsung has one model that does that. Or else, easiest way just get XBox 360. Kekekeke...

Hi guys. I have been long missing.

Nothing wrong with me, just that my projector was so called overtaken by my wife's uncle... watching Astro everyday every night in my house. And of course, my baby girl has not given me much freedom.

But... but... my dream still goes on. He! He! I am shifting to new place soon. Now under renovation. I am thinking of changing my sound system. That includes amplifier, speakers, sub and rear speakers.

Any suggestions? Surround speakers gonna be ceiling mounted and preferably the front speakers gonna be floor standing.

Amp wise? I know many of you have been talking about Onkyo but quite frankly, I always like Denon. HA! Ha! Donno la... first amp I guess.

Budget for 5.1 speakers + amp. around RM10k or less. (I know, I know... I have not much choice) but my main objective is watching movie. Not into music.

So... suggest suggest.

Amp:
Front Speaker:
Rear Speaker:
Centre Speaker:
Sub:

Whether u listen to musice or just HT should not matter, the system should be competent enuf for both.

I have a full Yammy system except for the sub so I'll recommend a Yammy package, can audition at most Yamaha dealers...

Amp: RX-V861 ~ <RM2.5k
Front Speaker: NS-525F ~ <RM2k
Rear Speaker: NS-M525 ~ <RM1.5k
Surround Back: NS-M525 ~ <RM1.5k
Centre Speaker:NS-C525 ~ <RM1k
Sub: YST-SW515 ~ RM1.5k... not sure

Should easily come below RM10k, plus it would sound better and kick more ass that most other patchwork HT packages. Plus this is a 7.1 system not a standard 5.1 system.  I am using 7.1 in my theater and it makes a big difference filling up the hole behind ur listening area.

Jason biggrin.gif
*
7.1 ah? Aiyayaya...
Like that I need to pull another 2 audio cable behind loh.
But 1 thing. My behind is empty. So, I might not be able to have a 7.1 system. My surround will be ceilng hung.
