That's exactly what we are all thinking and saying ..... if you have other choices to consider, look around and check out the demos. Why restrict to Epson? Your decision is only based on forum, not own eyes?
*
Boss, thats the problem Malaysia la.

For my preference... actually Panny AX100 was the one but you can call it lucky or you can call it bad luck... But I got to move on.

The next closest to AX100 is Panny TW700. But actually, if you look at it (through readings), the spec is better than AX100.

Now, what other models or brand I can consider?
Optoma-110% out. If you read my previous posts, I mentioned it quite a number of times.
BenQ-Where to find?
Sanyo-Not bright enough.
Mitsubishi-Not bright enough.
The rest? All not at the same par with these.

So... where else I can go?

Hahaha,

Tat leaves forum opinions and thank god for tat...

No need to mention other town... even in KL...
I called up Epson a few times. The sales ppl even got to find out the price for me. He mentioned "Not many units sold, so I got to find out the price for you, oh... I got it... its RM6698.00"

I was like blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

Then, he gave me some reseller numbers that can help me. So, I called. 1 number keep on engage. 1 number no people pick up (at 4.30pm) and another one... Yeah... got people picked up... rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif But then, its a house number.

shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

So... thats the thing. I guess its good that the Panny dealer gonna help me to buy. I have less hassles.

QUOTE(shipal @ May 5 2007, 09:22 PM)

It was more than enough for me.
Now, I have tougher time ahead. Like I mentioned earlier... Panny-no SDE. Epson... SDE is obvious. Panny-Discoloration problem. Epson-No problem.

Haiz...

Hi,

SDE on de epson is only visible if you sit real close to de screen... for my 8ft screen and pj at 20.5 ft away, sde is only noticeable if you sit less than 4ft from screen... anything further and it is not noticeable...

Just my 2 cts
Dirtrun
*
May be I am too used to Panny...
I can see the SDE or pixels even at 15ft from screen...
And I don't notice that in Panny.

Ya loh... I tried tweaked JAson's TW700. It works quite well. It was quite OK. But you know la... I don't have much choice. I love my AX100 when light is on watching ASTRO. Its really bright enough...

I found some of those curtain... but there are quite a lot of different types...

which one should i choose...

1. thin layer cloth, different texture on both side. ( one side rough, one side very smooth)

2. thick 3 layer cloth, ( the middle layer is black colour cloth )

3. Very thick and hard canvas like material.

which one should i use? or is it none of the above?
*
Well, every one of it, buy 1 meter... bring it home... and test it. I won't be able to tell like which is better. You might have different likings compared to me.

Alamak.
I typed long long suddenly pressed wrong key and all gone. So, start again.

Eh... u two ah... just because I was away for 2 days, doesn't mean u can talk behind my back.... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif sleep.gif sleep.gif

Anyway, the dealer called me up and said the best he can get is what Dirt's getting. So, cannot save some money. He will be getting the catalog for me to confirm it is the model. I don't want later when I say yeah yeah, I want TW700 but he buy me Epson 400. I die la.

If Prolite 1080, I dont mind la. brows.gif : hehe:
Anyway, regarding TW700... when I watch AX100, I feel more movie like. Yeah, when u don't have something to compare, you might not know but since I've been watching it for like 4-5 months, yeah... its kinda obvious. May be I need some tweak or what 1-1 compare, I prefer AX100.
TW700 more like a normal projector.

But ... but...
ITs OK.

As for the mounting, I've just hinted my subcon that I am changing my projector. He was fast... "u just give me the measurement la"
Kekeke... No need pay money one. Ops... corruption here spotted. KAkakaka...

Anyway... if I can modify, I'll do it myself.

As for distance, well, its OK. I've just made the biggest commitment in my life. I just bought a house and probably if loan approve, I will be moving in by end of the year. Yeayy...

Thanks for all the poisonous needles poked... until I moved to Epson. tongue.gif

(psst... actually, no choice biggrin.gif )

I donno why, but I seem to like you more everytime you reply. Kekekeke rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Now, your statment is really true. If I were to spend that kinda money, if not RM10k on screen, I'd at least spend RM3k (10%) on the screen.

It is like driving a BMW 5 series and use Simex tyres. Although either Perillys or Michilin (note that I can't spell both names but Simex as I am on the Simex league) or Simex can still make your car moves, but heck... 1 sen price 1 sen goods la.

Oh, dirt, after this, I think I better follow you... In fact worse than you as I don't have a projector even... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Any idea where to get a 3k 127" wide 2.35:1 screen?

Our damage is already around 100k, and still haven't termasuk renovating  shocking.gif

The RS-MaddMudd is good enough, at least for a year or two. smile.gif
*
You know... if you have spent RM100k, then you should spend at least RM10k on the screen.
You need a nice gray wolf or fox or dog screen but not Goo Paint. Don't save on that money. If you go to Projector Central and read, they did give you a rule of thumb on the screen.

Why? I started reading on screens when I got to know a 110" (white) commercial screen costs about RM3k. This was from an AV shop in Damansara. From that time, I know I only can afford DIY. But for you, you already 90% complete... why spoil the 10%?

QUOTE(dirtrun @ May 24 2007, 09:59 AM)
Hi,

Follow me where... I aint got no money to go anywhere la... hehehe biggrin.gif ...

I like and agree with your first statement, man ... and I would like to add dat your manna my venom la, so to each his own ... it dont mean dat a diy screen is inferior especially when you are talkin living within a budget or is our bro s having a blank check syndrome... BTW i know of a guy who has a 1080p PJ too but shooting on a white wall only and he is having de time of his life - what does dat make him???  smile.gif

Bro Tim your simile on tires is funny la ... hehehe biggrin.gif  but I think Beemers come wif Contis  not Michelins or Pirellis( See, I got de spelling rite cos I am a Motorhead too... in a previous life... cool2.gif )

Okay I am going to keep quiet and read now...

Hey Turnip, welcome to the world of real Home Theatre, while we do not have reel to reel projectors, but we have the next best thing.... digital front projectors.  Just choose you favorite flavour and pay on your way out, thank you...... next....
And so the saga ends.  Welcome back to Bro Tim.  You are the only one to have converted from the Panny to the Epson, tell us how it feels and if you have gotten used to the picture?  Changed any settings yet, calibrated yet?

He! He!... laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I dare note talk about my experience here la as you all are high end fellas talking about Pearl la, Ruby la, Diamond la... me on the other hand, only got batu marmar (thats marble for you).
laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Anyway, I will post my screenshots in my Cinema in my Home section. As for the quality for the TW700... JAson, you need a screen. You know what? I prefer Epson than Panny!!!! Its brighter, color is stronger and I hardly can see the SDE even when I focused at the sharpest. I think the screen helped to smoothen the whole picture making it more movie like. Cheers. Check out my review later. I have yet to do it properly. Now, my whole living room looks like sh!t again.

My screen is coming soon, the contactor will start work on my AV room in 2 weeks time.

Happy that u like the Epson TW700, well it does have superior contrast compared to the AX100... its not surprising that the colours are stronger and have more pop.  The SDE does not bother me anymore... unless the movie is slow and boring!!  Looking forward to a more detailed review.

One thing... seems like when I am using HDMI, I can't change to progressive or Interlace. So... how ah? I can't seem to be able to choose the resolution also.
