i have a 9 ft x 9 ft room...is it too small for a projector?

If output 720p from dvdp then you ll have either normal and thru' setting only, I think...
If output thru component more settings available but of cos upscaled pics are nicer thru hdmi la...

I dont get it, why do you need interlaced thru hdmi ?

i need to have home theatre system in my room, can someone recommend to me a budget set up with a silver screen . I need a sound system too and i wonder if AegoM is the starter for beginner like me.

60 inch is ok for me...anyway i planning to get  Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 Projector which cost RM5k but how much is the cheapest screen available?

9x9 ft can, but the benefits may not be great.  Without a slightly larger room and a wider screen you may not get that "immersive" effect as when you are in a Cinema.  In the end it may jsut feel like a large flatpanel....

For an affordable screen can get from computer shop for a few hundred RM.  If you want slightly better quality can buy material from Internet/ebay and get you carpenter to frame it for you.

While I never had the 2 projectors side by side, but I would say that the AX100 has more noise.... again this is from comparing with the few AX100 that I help to sell.  The TW700 picture is much "cleaner".

Good stuff there psp_BOY.  Really looking forward to visiting and sampling your setup.

My take on 1080.  After a much needed hiatus from visiting AV shops, I recently wandered into an AV shop while in Singapore and was able to sample the VPL50 and together with the new BluRay player.  The shopowner tells me that the setup in the room... audio, screen, furniture, projector, lighting etc was recently refurbished for a cool sum of SGD500k.  Apparently that was supposed to impress me. 

He wanted to show off the BluRay player and the VPL50.  So I was invited to sit and was told to wait to be amazed.  I am not sure if its because of the demo discs, but I just did not like the picture.  Yes the picture has superb clarity, each grain of sand, each pine needle, each strand of hair is clearly visible, or should I say... painfully visible.  But who actually views the world through their eyes like that?

I would say that the picture is unrealistic and detracts the enjoyment of the movie.  Not at all like the cinema... more like a videogame or watching home movies made with my Sony Handycam (not HD).  The shopowner then popped in a few 1080 movies and still I was not enjoying myself as I should have been.  I left not long after, not forgetting to thank the shopowner for the hospitality.

My purpose is not to start another resolution war, but just want to see if anyone else shares this opinion.  I think that I am just not used to the new stuff after a steady diet of 720p.

Ah this is the AW 15 is one of the new budget 720p projector from Sony, the other one is AW10.  I saw an AW10 demo unit on display, not sure if of the availability in Malaysia.  But street prices should be definitely less than RM5k for AW15(12,000 contrast) and RM4k for AW10(6,000 contrast).  At that time I didn't even notice it... the casing is "oh so boring grey" and rectangle.  Since it was not hooked up I did not get to see it.  I did a quik read over on the www, and aparently out of the box it needs some calibration and with good black levels.  I think its good value for the money.  Read somewhere that is was comparable to the previous generation Epson... the TW600.  Its major downfall is that its not bright and really needs a high gain screen or a light controlled room, 1100 lumens only.  But in all an excellent starter projector.

BTW, I have stopped selling projectors liow.  But can ask me for advicelah.

But bro...the street prices of these new 720p projectors could be a cool 25% cheaper than what we paid for the TW700..... for those with budget about RM4K can considerlah.

Grown ups watching Cars quietly... priceless.  Incidently I watched it with my kids last Saturday afternoon..... again.  I must have seen it 15 times now... can almost recite the dialogue along with the characters, I know my daughters can!

Tim/dirtrun and other TW700 owners, if you are experiencing a lot of noise/grain with the projector while using HDMI, keeping the component cables plugged in may help to remove the noise and grain.  A fellow TW700 owner recently reported this over at avsforums.  Read it here.

Back on topic, how is your TW700 doing nowaydays?  My TW700 is performing really well, averaging 8 - 10 hours a week.  Never skipped a beat.

I question for bro dirt and u, my unit is approaching 150hrs, and I think the picture is starting to dim, but none of my family members notices it.  Is it just my eyes playing tricks on me? What is the hours on your bulb and do u notice any dimming?

I ended wif a custom made screen using an mdf board wif a very durable matt white skin on one side - size of 96 X 54" ... not de best but I am happy wif wat I paid for it...

On pull down screens ... it is better to have fixed screens as pull down usually will suffer from waves and flapping from de aircon or fan and dat can be a real turndown...

On de Ax100 ... just a heads up - read AX 100... a good read of a 100 pgs ... will make u think ... kekeke

BTW de AX200 is now hot in de US ...

Back to the a related topic, my package from Amazon has arrivved... 4 days earlier than estomated...   The DVD is really worth itlah, got many extras and features.... What's more after conversion plus shipping its cheaper than local... yay for me.  Summore I got the HD DVD version.  I will take screen shots over the weekend and post here.

42"plasma TV is more flexible, but when it comes to pure enjoyment of movies made for the cinema, the projector wins... no argument.

As for the listed price.... its only a listed price.  If you shop around and ask for discount, you will be surprised how much some dealers are willing to give.  Don't be shy to ask!!!

currently I'm still using my 3.5 year old benQ6100 (just done 578 hrs) and planning to upgrade to a new 720p prj.
anyone know how much is the prj tax if I wld buy one from US during X'mas.

My choices are : 
1. Pana AX200  (USD$1299)
2. Pana Ax100  (USD$1099)
3. Sanyo Z5    (USD$1399)
4. Mist HC1500  ($999-$1099)
5. Optoma HD70 ($950-$999)

I'm going to US for business only just b4 Xmas and don't have much time for shopping, I've shortlisted my prj choice simple they are available at Circuit City or Best Buy which near by our office. I prefer brighter and high black prj like my cheapo 6100, therefore pana AX200 still my top choice , but a bit concern on the flickering problem that mentioned in AVSForum and mist HT1500 is my 2nd pick.

My advise to all who are looking to buy a projector... stretch ur RM/$ and get a 1080 Full HD projector. Even if you think u don't u need one.  HD players and HD DVDs are cmoning down in price and it will be here sooner than you think....
