does anybody still dwell into the black friday sales on amazon since friday... or no one here has any interest in physical copy anymore? laugh.gif

i think the price of blu-ray and 4k titles not as alluring as they used to be years ago. blush.gif  but i bought some, because some titles i held back from purchasing during streetdate releases, so they're quite a good bargain.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday

what titles did you buy this year?
I skipped this year, didn't buy anything

i ordered mostly the titles that i wanted with  significantly reduced price (all blu-ray) like Avengers Endgame, Spider-Man Far From Home, John Wick Chapter 3 & Shazam! (all USD7.99), Bumblebee & Goosebumps 2 (USD5.99), Justice League (USD3.99) and a few other catalogue titles just to reduce shipping fee cool2.gif  rclxms.gif
*
all those is not 4k titles right?

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 3 2019, 10:34 AM)
the one that i sorely missed was Mission: Impossible 6-Movie Collection when price dropped to USD12.99 but only for a short while!!  cry.gif blush.gif
*
this is good price.. only USD2.2 per movies. thumbup.gif
wait for next year, it will be 9.99 whistling.gif

yup, all normal blu-ray. i would've bought the 4K ones if price is lower or almost similar nod.gif
ya lor, it goes on sale like "lightning deal" quick... i managed to put into my cart but when i was about to check out, it says out of stock... so it went straight into 'wait for later' and then few hours later back to USD19.90 doh.gif (but still a good deal for 6 flix!) btw, currently still got stock with USD19.96 price tongue.gif  i even have a few titles from previous years' BF purchase that i still have not opened yet laugh.gif obviously now the prices are very much lower than when i bought them, oh well.... whistling.gif
*
so you bought BD for keeping only?
I had a lot of title have not open yet.
some even I watched in Netflix but not on the BD I bought

i just have this disease of impulse purchase, especially during black friday... cannot tahan the cheap price reduction laugh.gif yup... actually it's for keeping (for collection)! some movies just nice for holding and looking at the covers etc; and not just watching the movies in them... if to just watch, then can go to netflix or other 'sources' whistling.gif

btw, do you consider selling the unopenend collections after a few years...? sometimes i do feel that – wanted to sell those titles and then repurchase later on those with a bundle-up or in boxsets which are value for money and bang for the buck while save on shipping per item fee! cool2.gif
*
I do not have that many unopened titles. should be less than 20.
don't think I will sell it since it will make a lot effort to sell that tiny unopened collection.

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 3 2019, 02:12 PM)
...and to add, can save space on my small and cramped blu-ray shelf! imagine 1 movie and its 7 sequels can saved the space to just one thick bluray case nod.gif
*
I thought more the merrier?
it will make your collection look bigger with each individual title and single casing tongue.gif

*
rclxub.gif 300++ BD titles are common in this thread?

*
already started upgrade to 4k since end of 2017 but I think have less than 20 4k titles
just this year was busy and in oversea, no time to check BF deal.

just sharing first black friday parcel arrived last tuesday 10th december. order made on 28th november and shipped on 6th december... using standard international shipping! that's odd... never before in my 10+ years buying from amazon.com that an ultra-cheapo standard shipping arrived in less that 5 days biggrin.gif

anyone else received their black friday stuff? do share... icon_rolleyes.gif

well, clock is ticking.... this probably marks the end of Speedy Video altogether sooner that we thought... i know most outlets already closed down but this particular outlet in 1Utama shopping centre; oddly called ‘Movie Magic’ (Speedy’s company name i think) which is one of the bigger store is closing down!

now having sale on bluray, dvd and even cds... check ‘em out if you’re around the area.

btw, the ‘3 for RM50’ mixed normal & 3D titles! the ‘2 for RM88’ are bigger and newer titles... rclxms.gif

*
getting old now, cant remember much.
if I remember correctly, I take 4-5 titles and total not more than RM100

Yeah. the Nolan Collection and Matrix Trilogy are UK versions.

The Nolan Collection is loooong out of print in the US, and Matrix Trilogy US version was almost double the price of the UK version.
*
did Matrix Trilogy US Version become limited edition?
How much it could fetch now?
good price maybe can sell it drool.gif brows.gif

No, it's just that it didn't go on deep discount during Black Friday. smile.gif

In my experience, for big boxed sets usually UK version become cheaper than US version during Black Friday.
*
even without BF, usually UK version boxset cheaper than US version.
However, I only owned few UK boxset due to ugly design and bulky casing.

QUOTE(fadthil @ Dec 27 2019, 12:00 AM)
good advice... btw already owned captain america civil war US version years ago during black friday. that is one reason why i'm not that fond on buying any asian region A blu-ray;other than the usual bad quality packaging printing!! doh.gif
*
probably due to lazy packaging designer. just cut, copy and paste then done job doh.gif

i wont necessary have issue with cut n pate job since that is the master artwork from the movie studio... but the not-so-great printing job done by local printers. i think apart from quality and features of the PQ/AQ of the disc, it is the packaging overall quality... seems to be one of the reason we collect and keep the so-called "physical" media; now that "digital" or "streaming" has been the popular choice among general audiences  cool2.gif
*
do you consider to design your on cover page or print image from internet for BD and replace those ugly one?

QUOTE(munchoong @ Dec 28 2019, 04:33 PM)
I think you're meaning those ugly fat Ecopaks?

I kena with the UK box sets for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Enterprise, Downton Abbey, and How I Met Your Mother sad.gif
*
Yeah. I prefer boxset that have slim casing, e.g. Matrix Trilogy from US.

I thought Europe countries will have better idea on environmental friendly by reducing plastic use, but the UK BD casing speak louder whistling.gif

ermm... if only i have spare time to do so. but i dont really matter much the original cover design so far released by studios although i may prefer a certain design of a movie for a format i won't be buying; for instance i may prefer a 3D blu-ray cover release instead of the standard blu-ray one which i'm owning.  wink.gif
aik, i heard you recently mentioned you'd prefer to fill-up your shelf... so a thicker casing of a boxset title is better than a slim-case one, no...? whistling.gif
personally i'd prefer a slimmer-case too – my favourite is the Austin Powers Triple Feature; it's so thin all three casing combined almost the same thickness as a normal single case bluray! thumbup.gif
*
filling up the shelf with same size is ok.
suddenly have an eyesore fat casing with a nipple in between is no no vmad.gif
