QUOTE(LeslieKenny @ Oct 23 2016, 06:42 PM) Hey, guys. I am currently working in Sg. However, I planned to change job recently. Of course, I will definitely search and secure a job before I resign from the current company. My question would be if let say: (i) I resign and my last day around mid of April, how do IRAS will charge my tax? (ii) Will IRAS would like me to clear my current tax even I gained a new job ? P/S: I am currently S pass holder who started to work mid of July. I have not paid any tax yet. Your reply and suggestion will certainly appreciated. I need advise at this point. If you work less than 180 days in singapore, you will be charged 15% flat rate. Anyways, you need to register and get your Singpass first. I wouldnt worry about your tax until your 2nd year working in Singapore.

QUOTE(Kelv @ Oct 25 2016, 09:24 AM) Anyone use First Coach Singapore <-> Bangsar? Let's say take the 6.30pm, website show arrival time 11.30pm, really? Some said if depart around 6.30pm most likely reach midnight and miss the last train. Better u take bus from jb larkin. 35ringgit only. But getting there, you have to cross the checkpoint. It could take you 30mins to 2 hours depending on human traffic.. At least you dont get held up by the white card holders. Which is usually why buses departing from sg is slower.

I use rentinsingapore.com for my first rental.. by far, the cheapest place to find good rent. I did comparison last time, at least 10% cheaper than nestea, propguru etc.

QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Nov 30 2016, 08:46 PM) For those who send their infant and toddler to the nursery because its make economical sense to do so, do prepare for your kids sending you to elderly home when you are old and helpless because it would also make economical sense for them to do so. Easy for you to say and judge other people.. Some families both parents have to be working just to survive. Not everyone is a high flying corporate banker who bring no tangible benefit to society whatsoever.. Those technicians and hawker family will need to send their children away at some point.

QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Dec 4 2016, 07:56 PM) Can what. I stayed home to take care my baby for 1 year. Only need bout 1k for food and house expenditures. The other half sure can bring home 1k right. You sure most of 2 working parents family is because need or want? Want better lifestyle, so sacrifice the time with the kids. Hawkers earn alot btw if you think their earning is little. It isnt so much about how much money they make, but their time. Do you know how hard it is to run a hawker stall? Wake up at 5am go back at 6pm or later.. usually it is a couple working together or even the grandmom and grandfather also working there. So, how? Who gonna jaga the kids? Maybe you are privilege and lived a sheltered life to not notice such things. But your statement that dont blame the kid for sending their parent to old folks home is not a fair statement and there is are cases where both parents have to work for their livelihoods.

QUOTE(KilJim @ Dec 6 2016, 12:07 AM) Sure, that's a good opinion and i can agree with that too But you have to understand the way Fiona is making her comments, she is putting down anyone who decides to work instead of staying home with their kids There are all kinds of situations in this world, making a hard and fast judgement like that is unfair which is what some here disagree on Ya, anyways, thats in parenting thread la. Not work in sg which tbh, we are all on this island to make as much money as we can. I too believe in one parent to stay at home. But then, I wont discount daycare as a good option too.

Given the tens of thousands of people who cross the border everyday for work, wouldnt it make sense to build an aircond bridge for humans to walk?
It will be like walking an airport terminal. Have some travelators in placed for convenience.

QUOTE(huaweie5830 @ Dec 8 2016, 09:01 PM) who should pay ? Would u pay for Ur maid first class flight coz she say tired taking AA And tats y Ur flght frm changI got almost SGD 50' airport tax incase u didn't nitice You cant look at direct impact. Indirect impact would be more tourist willing to go to msia. And sg benefit from having kuli msian labour. Besides, not that hard to implement a ticket system to cross the bridge. It certainly beats waiting for a bus or driving over the causeway due to traffic.

Are you really saving by doing this? Maybe you're over the top and actually only take a flight to kl once every 6 months.

So those looking to be granted pr next year, the charts look promising. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/sing...long-term-visitThis was last years report. In 2030, they are predicting 2.3 adults to support one retired singkie down from 4.7 adults in 2016. Not good or promising odds at all. Ultimately, granting PR is one necessary measure to address Singapores declining population growth You can thank sinkies for this. From the report, you are more likely to be granted a PR if you are: Female, aged 24-45 and hold a pass. There are 30,000 pr slots issued every year. And it seems this cap is not hit. So there is a very good chance you should be issued one if you apply today.

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Dec 31 2016, 12:17 PM) I think the solution to your problem, mr darrenboy, is to just come down to singapore one day, and go and ask all the telcos in person. they will answer ur questions, if they are patient enough to put up with you. In the first month in SG, before i got my EP, all i did was use the tourist simcard for a month. During that time slowly research lor... U seem overly anxious and nervous of your move. Relax and take a chill pill. Sometimes I think Msians are even more kiasu than sgreans. lol, havent arrive yet but already thinking of which the best phone plans etc.
