for me, yes, the letter serves as proof that, from the start of obtaining my license in Malaysia, I have not done any serious offense, and is not blacklisted, so that SG can convert my license.

i think it is stated somewhere, when u extract the letter from JPJ, u fill in a form, in the form if you tick "for license conversion", once u get the letter your license status will be updated to blacklisted.

Actually I checked my license status on jpj , didn't mention blacklisted , also still got the expiry date there also.... LOL don't knw still can go renew anot next time later got 2 license....  even thou now oso got 2 license

ahh... that's why. maybe you are lucky, I'm not sure. cos when i said i wanna request for the letter, the person asked me what is it for? then yeah, i told him license conversion, and the form he gave me had a checkbox for license conversion also.
so when u requested for the letter, they did not ask u why? what for?

It would be interesting to also share which JPJ office you went to. From friends sharing, etc, anecdotally it seems that if you ask for the extract in JB JPJ then 99.9% they will batal your Malaysia license cos they know you are only asking for the extract to convert to SG license.

For me I requested mine in KL. Asked for extract cos "mahu memandu di luar negara" (lol) and they never cancel. So for the last 4 years I've had SG and MY licenses.

Having said that ... keep both license also dunno for what. Since SG license allows you to drive in MY anyway.

After 5 years in Singapore, I really feel hard to switch back to Malaysia. Forget about career and currency, the internet speed in Malaysia is my next concern. Also cannot accept the government agencies always behave like a big boss. Even the private bank (not talking about premier banking here as I'm just ordinary customer, always long queue and lack of efficiency. I spent few hours waiting to get my ATM card changed to new version on last Monday (yes... limited/no weekend banking in Msia). In Singapore the card would have been mailed to me and I just need to activate by SMS. And you pissed off when reading how injustice happens in Msia. Just look at our police no difference from licensed gangster.

Seriously the only good about Msia is food and also convenience to stay closer to family. But those reasons really hard for me to justify not leaving this shitty country for better career and safer environment.

p/s: I still holding mycard for the coming election and also probably not converting citizenship now due to my parents might be upset thinking their son is leaving them behind. My parents already accepted the bad system and unwilling to leave this country.

I think mainly its the GPA of the first degree. Then how many years of working experience will add in some point. And your boss supporting letter.

Difficulty depends on the peers applying that year. A lot of Malaysians in my class last time. E&E I heard its majority Indians. Good luck.
