Yeah, just imagine if they agree to a supply cut or cap on production.
*
really, almost all opec is at full capacity. so, a "freeze" is rather meaningless.

production cut... will have a temp effect after which shale and non-opec will pump more as soon as prices rise.

the fundamental issue is there IS plenty of sources now, no monopoly like before.

i think the days of the mighty petro$ are over.

for us, small time traders, it will be just just another commodity... eventually.

first, "we may discuss".

then, "we offer to cut".

now, "we don't see a deal".

die or not? biggrin.gif

Oil prices fell about 3 percent on Friday, paring weekly gains, on a report that Saudi Arabia did not expect an agreement at talks next week among major crude exporters aimed at freezing production.

very lucky me... sold all uwti last night, then went dwti and just sold all.

better enjoy the weekend. tongue.gif

good read:

The oil and gas industry worldwide will have to show "character" to excel in an open-ended, low-price, extreme-efficiency environment. The fight for clean kilowatts is on. This is good news for consumers everywhere. And bad news for those who are solely banking on high prices and hoping for tail winds of high volatility.

we all need the luck. so, that's good.

i had some luck in the last few days.

will see if mon-tue will provide opportunity to long anything.

like u, i see 43-48 range still in play.

until some major opec fella says or announce something major.

but even the russians aren't optimistic.

it's all traders' emotions, little else.

while the tankers get fuller and fuller.

I am only confident even if they do nothing,
Oil should not drop below $43 by end of this week.
Maybe a small dip to 42.50 if all else fail because of Iran, but it should hold.
At near $43, it seems the buyers will step in.

I got some room to maneuver from last week gains  but if Iran continues to be defiant and wanted to double their production instead of holding at same level or sudden US rigs count increases, then, I'll be caught holding a lot of shares of XLE by end of this week.  sweat.gif
*
43 should be safe.

but opec... i can't see them agreeing on anything except, "we agree to talk again".

besides iran, there are libya and nigeria - both trying to get back to normal production, unlikely they will agree to even freeze at this time.

i wait for 2am and see how it goes... may go dwti if it stays higher than 46.

markets seem buoyed by clinton's debate "win".

crude... all ears on first words coming out of opec meet, i'm sure.

reuters seem to be always the first one to report anything.
