Instead of trading for short term gains, choose to invest long term either through ETF's or individual stocks. But always ensure you are buying the best in class stocks with strong fundamentals and not the hype stocks.

I learn the lesson for trying to pick individual stocks. Lost some amount of money but it's a good reminder for me.

Now I'm just all into VT 100%.

VT and chill is now my motto. Dump and forget. The lower it gets, the more I add.

I wouldnt waste my time with VT. Its far too diversified. Too safe. It's 5 and 10 year annualized returns are only 7% and 8% respectively vs 14% and 15% for MGK.

Wrong mate. The idea is to manage risks not shun it. Nobody got rich by being too safe. Your money should work hard for you not laze around doing average work and giving you average returns. You shouldn't be in the US market merely to get slightly better returns than EPF. That's a waste.

I understand your perspective. You are advanced type of investor that got times to look and study the market.

while rookies or busy people like me, I don't have time to add, reduce or trim the position, Just don't have time for that. So I give some donation to vanguard.

I can tell you that I don’t spend an even a hour a week to study the markets šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø which is nothing when most of ppl would have spend on something else

It is not that difficult and hard to just spend even 10 mins in a year to just do simple rebalance if you know how to šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø as I will only add and trim when hit my price target which are very high in between hence it doesn’t make a lot of time when it is outperforms MGK by twice in % at least

Thats true. You dont need alot of time analysing the market. But you do need to understand the bigger picture of whats happening in the market and learn the relationships between the various components.

You can see my portfolio above. I only invest in individual Big Tech stocks and Berkshire. But i suggested MGK for the majority of investors who want a good, long term risk weighted return over the next 15-20 years. If most investors just focused on buying good ETFs, the overall stock market will be much stronger. Majority of the retail traders get burnt thinking they can outperform the overall market judging by their short term gains.

The stock market is a marathon never a sprint. Its all about returns over the longer term. There will always be short term spikes and crashes but what matters is your overall return after 15/20 years.

My suggestion you can look for SPY 500 ETF or QQQ for safety

QQQ and MGK have similar long term performance. SPY performance lags both. But QQQ and SPY have higher expense ratios with QQQ being the highest. So the best ETF among the 3 is MGK.

We also don't know how well CS will be.. eventhough ThinkorSwim won't change.

But, historically.. things will look messy especially data from old broker.. like stmts, transactions, etc..

CS also been losing a lot of money, hopefully they won't go bankrupt eventho our funds are supposedly protected by SIPC and some by FDIC (on the regular banking side) sweat.gif

Not too worried about it šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø because trade as well being merged into MS hence they would have thought and being approved by SEC beforehand about the procedures and the follow through
