I got the DIR-850L, anyone want me to test anything?  happy.gif
Currently serving 4 wired PC and 4 wireless devices.. no problem since day 1.
*
Congratulations on your toy!

I thought there are 4 ports on the 850L with port 4 for HypTV. Not using the TV and use it as a normal LAN port?

Using Unifi 30?

Possible to get the average Mbps for each of the PC and mobile users from the router? Just curious on the individual speed especially on the mobile.

Thanks.

feel itchy to upgrade unifi pro...but keep thinking suddenly tm given promo or what so ever later, rugi pula da bind 2 tahun...

My unqualified 2 cents here ...

Govt has allocated RMx billion in the budget to improve broadband in 2016. So can expect some improvement to the infrastructure for higher speed and some promotion to get more to ride on them.

Yes, this improvement-promotion pattern will repeat every x years and one can be waiting for ever if one does not get in. Ha.

My personal strategy is not to aim for the highest speed package as that will carry with it some hidden cost premium. Aim for the 2nd or 3rd highest speed if they are sufficient for your use.

Can't wait for my Unifi 30! A big jump for me from 8 to 30! Ha.

3x Gigabit port for other stuff
1x Port for HyppTV only
Port for hypptv cannot be used like a normal lan port.
I'm using Advance 100.
As I'm not home just yet, I can only give this screenshot from my phone.

Actually that router you can set the lan port vlan id.

So either way you can disable iptv and use as normal port:)

Thanks for the useful tip. Will see if I need 4th LAN port or not.

My wife wants to watch the chinese shows in HyTV.

Some good ones for me like Aust 1+, CNewAsia etc.

Got a call from TM to confirm their installation team coming next week.

Finally. Hope that with Unifi 30, everyone in my family (currently on 8 Mbps) can feel the faster speed, consistency, a lot less buffering, etc.

First time using fiber optic on the net! Sounds like a kid opening Christmas present! Ha.

I just switched to unifi 30mbps.

Does anyone here has experience in merging or transferring old existing copper phone number to merge with Unifi account ?
*
I asked about keeping the old number. They said need to pay some RM20/month (if I remember correctly).

For RM240 per year, I think I better let it go and start using the new number. Ha.

How do you find your new unifi 30? As expected, better or worse?

QUOTE(zkteh @ Jun 20 2016, 03:53 PM)
It actually works like this :

You will have two line in your house after signing Unifi

1. Unifi
2. TM

so you have two telephone no.

remember we used to pay the TM rental fee? If you upgrade to unifi from streamyx using the same name, the rental fee will be waived. (cause if u terminate Streamyx, u have to pay for the rental fee)

that's what the real meaning of keeping the old telephone no after signing Unifi.

keep in mind that Streamyx bundle have a discount when calling TM no, so after terminating, u must remember not to use TM line to call out~ use unifi number onwards ya.

we keep the old number just to let people call in~

next,

RM1 is the charges for Butir Lengkap Panggilan STD

This service is to view the called numbers and miniutes etc in details
eg
0111243331 0:01sec RM1.00

you can apply for not using this service, thus we no need to pay extra RM1/month
*
BAGUS!

What is this special package called? The TM lady told me I have to pay RM20(?) to keep my old number and she did say about using that for incoming calls and use the new phone for outgoing due to the free calls.

They will come tomorrow to install Unifi here. If I called TM, they will tell me the same thing as what the previous TM lady told me.

Help, help!

Got my Unifi 30 yesterday. Not a smooth flow. Disappointed with TM's work practice with multiple unifi installers calling me to book the installation time. Later the installer did not come on time. Those who took time off from work for installation will be really pissed off. Ha.

When they came, it went smoothly. Impressed with their quality of work except a 2 by 3 inches wall cement piece came off on the outside wall as they used the hammering drill to drill the small hole. Should not use the hammering mode though slower with normal drilling.

I got the DL 850L. So far, happy with it. Can feel the faster browsing when turning pages on The Star, faster response when going from one menu to the sub menu in Kodi, watched Game of Thrones (season 2) 1080p without buffering (yes, I am a few years behind on this show), wife's HP browsing is faster now using the higher dual wifi speed on 850L.

Some questions:

AA
on the BTU, port 1 goes to 850L, 3 unused ports. OK to use these 3 LAN ports? One will say just plug it in and see. But I prefer to check first. Or are they utilised by the router?

BB
2 phone ports. Without any phone cable plugged it, tel 1 light is on. Does that mean only tel 1 is configured and can be used? Just plug in tel 2 and see! Ha.

CC
For the free iflix & viu for new Unifi ac, these do not sit inside HypTV right? Asked the installer, he does not know.

DD
Saw on the Service Acceptance Form today that they stated Business Registration. Should be for home use only. If no complication later (upgrade etc), I will just leave it. Signed that without reading the whole 3 pages. Tip for future friends who will be installing Unifi, read the 3 pages forms BEFORE they ask you to sign! Ha.

Cheerio.

P/S Learnt from the installer that the F Optic cable is 2 cores, ie 2 optic lines in 1 cable. Only 1 core is used. Maybe the 2nd core is used if they have problem with the first one or for future parallel usage? Like the multi CPU trend now?

some of the answer based on my understanding:

aa- lan port on BTU is reserved for another line if you want to add later... mean one btu can go up to 4 account...

bb- as above, if you have extra account, another will be attached to tel 2...

cc- you may use on any devices as long attached to unifi account... it is like auto subscribe... for iflix... viu not sure...

dd-
*
Thanks!

Now makes sense on my AA & BB. The cable is actually 3 cores (installer says 2 cores though I can see 3 separate colored tubings inside).

Tried tel 2 port. Cannot use it.

iflix and vui are outside HypTV, need to register etc etc. Looks like Netflix which I have tried and I don't really like it.

Cheerio.

Because normally, the fiber cable only needs one to send data and the other one to receive data. TX and RX.
*
Interesting. I thought I read from somewhere that 1 core is for both downloading and uploading. I was reading that as I wanted to know whether uploading "eats" up your Mbps or not.

May be new tech is changing that now with dedicated core for each. That will be good.

Cheerio.

got a call from tm offer to upgrade my 30mbps to 50mbps for extra rm20 only..turn them down coz of the contract.
*
I think if marketing people call you, OK to upgrade without impacting your current contract. They will just restart your contract.

Only thing is, you will not get new eqpt (router, phone etc).

Call TM to find out more.

actually single core capable to do the rx and tx....that is the way of light transmission where different wavelength can be used on tx and rx...

the core you see might be not a core, but the cable to strengthen the fiber cable as fiber are easy to break.

actually tm using GPON technology where at the pole, they distribute single core to 8 channel/point. one big cable normally had 8 core and the split each core to 8 point... that why when the port is is full, there is very hard to get port opening as they need to layout another cable...easy way is wait another people terminate unifi. (i already saw the 8 core fiber when stupid people cut fiber at my place. tm contractor need to rewire and to install back from last point to distribution point...)

hope you understand... this is based on my understanding on fiber. maybe got wrong info...

Thanks.

Good learning here.

Just when I thought my decision to subscribe to Unifi would not be that bad after all despite the fact that I'm paying a ridiculous price for 30mbps internet and an average Hypptv service, I get hit with this pile of shit by TM. I subscribed on April and just when I thought I'll willingly pay more for the better channels on Jumbo pack instead of the shitty Varnam pack and decide to go ahead with the upgrade in June, TM drops this shitty bombshell requesting me to pay an extra of RM 342(miscellaneous fees) in this month's bill for terminating my Varnam pack subscription and upgrading it to the Jumbo pack. What kinda fuckery is this by TM? Literally daylight robbery. Is there anything I can do to dispute this? I will not bend and let TM screw me over for upgrading my pack.

My advice is to talk to your TM Point manager.

Manager because he/she has the authority to bend rules a bit to help customers. Other normal staff will just stick to the company's rules.

Good luck!

Tried to log into my new 850L. Manual says password is blank for initial log in. Tried that and it says "Invalid password. please try again".

Tried Admin, admin. No success.

Also checked with the installer who installed Unifi 30 for me. His 2 technician helped to set it up. He replied blank as the password.

Anyone with the same problem? And how to resolve this beside reset the router?

Thanks.

Found this on Google. Just try which one works. At least one of them works for mine.

Username : Password
1. admin : (Leave it empty)
2. admin : telekom
3. operator : telekom
4. operator : h566UniFi
5. Management : TestingR2
*
Many thanks.

Tried all and also upper case for Telekom etc

If this is DLink normal setup, I am very disappointed with their work practice. Manual says blank and user cannot log in. Since you found that in Google, looks like I am not the first one struggling with this.

Appreciate help from those who have walked through this and came out with a smiling face! Ha.

Thanks.

Mine came with a card and sticker with the login password.
user posted image

You can see the pattern there. Last 4 chars of the admin password = first 4 chars of wifi password.
*
Many many thanks!

Yes, password is in the card. See the last one User password. What they say about the blank as the password in the manual is WRONG!

DLink should wake up and correct this error. Surely they are following DLINK forums and this problem has been raised numerous time!

DLink, your customer satisfaction from me took a sharp dip earlier today when I could not log in. Now I found it is the mistake in your manual, for ALL you FUTURE customers' sake, correct that!!!

Using DL 850L. 2 HypTV boxes possible?

Any other things we can try to make full use of the box?

Thanks.
