Perodua’s first compact sedan spied undisguised!





Perodua’s upcoming compact sedan model is becoming a reality as we found an image of the car circulating in a local online forum. Codenamed D63D, and based on the Buddyz concept, this could be Perodua’s most important model to date.



Judging from the only image which seems to be taken from Perodua’s facility, we get a glimpse of its front and side of the new car. The front headlights get a stylish touch with the front grille almost similar with the current facelifted Myvi.

The tyres are a little tiny, and judging by its similar rim design with the Myvi SE, the new car could be riding on 175/65 R14 tyres.

So far everything looks good at the front, but sadly we unable to determine how the rear looks like. Many compact saloons sold in developing countries are aesthetically unpleasant, no thanks to botched jobs in adding a boot to a hatchback. Hence, Perodua needs to make it right in order to win sales from design-conscious Malaysians.

Perodua went on to develop their first compact saloon model which will be based on an existing Toyota or Daihatsu’s platform. The nation’s second auto manufacturer remained coy on the powertrain option but they did mention that it’ll score a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Could this be the first Perodua model to be equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC)?

Interestingly, Perodua is leading the development of this car, which if all goes well, it could be a car with a Toyota or Daihatsu badge in the near future. Look out more for Perodua’s answer to the Proton Saga soon, perhaps.
