if you consider to buy 710s but want 8gb, just buy another 4gb of ram separately and install it by yourself

Am currently looking on this. Currently only turn off is the 4GB DDR3 ram.
Simple squarish laptop without fancy shape or monster design on the outside, without backlight. I use it sometimes for presentation.

Have a look on Lenovo Ideapad 700 or Acer V nitro

Brand - Any
Budget - RM2.3K MAX
Usage - Work(Excel/Word) + MATLAB
Preference - Solid build quality, long battery life, good quality display,no need for dvd

I am quite inclined towards the ACER ASPIRE E5-575G-525V, but some said that Acer laptops are very fragile, especially the display. Dell is said to be the one to choose from if quality and longevity are a concern, however the model in my price range doesnt offer much in term of specs.

Any suggestions dear sifus?

Thanks for recommending the Lenovo. I got the i5 processor and they added a 240GB SSD + 4GB ram and threw me some goodies for around RM3.5k

In the end the Lenovo simple and professional look was the main deciding factor.

it looks like you're gonna use those software heavily
i suggest take laptop with i7 HQ version no the U version to handle those software smoothly and faster
but you should top up a little bit of money for a good spec

Lenovo Ideapad 700 Intel i7-6700HQ, 4GB DDR4 RAM, Nvidia GTX 950M 4GB, 500GB SATA HDD & 128GB SSD, 15.6" IPS FHD, 2.3KG RM3.8k

Thanks for the response. Just asking if the acer aspire 575g is okay because past acer model i heard have problems with flex ribbon. However most of the online review is saying the model is okay. Not many review for the vostro, so cannot judge from that eventhough the casing really seem solid.
