Today, woke up and looking forward to conquer Lost Planet mission 07 but my console (not modded) which is 6 weeks old couldn't start the game.

Put in the cd, reading.. reading.. reading.. 'open tray' status on dashboard (not physically).

..... doh.gif

Tried with other cd like GoW, R6V, GRAW, Lost Planet and Burnout.

GoW was able to load once out of alot of times.

R6V could could load twice out of many times. Took 1 minute to load though.

GRAW, Lost Planet and Burnout couldn't load at all.

Sent it to GH for repair and did some quick test with Marvel Alliance which could load 3 out of 3 times. GoW couldn't be read even once.

Apparently Djinn said he has never encounter this problem before among his customer. I guess I'm his first. sweat.gif

It's such a shame really, just gotten Lost Planet LE yesterday evening, didn't even get to try the multiplayer. Plus I just loaded my live account early this month with 3 month prepaid. shakehead.gif

Well, hope this post will get some of u mentally prepared when you encounter it. But of course touch wood la!

I hope to see all of you soon! bye.gif

maybe it is wise to wait until the malaysian launch to get an xbox360 coz it is just too much hassle now on warranty claiming issue.

wassup, my first post. anyways to answer ur question, ur console aint f-d yet. dont worry.

its your dvd drive laser. the first gen consoles came with a power rating of ard 2.9 - 3.2. recent ones are as high as 6.6. ( basically, lower numbers are more powerful)

all you really gotta do is just take out the dvd drive, and tweak the laser to around 3.4 - 3.6, that should be fine. a dvd repair shop could do it, if you dont have the tools. just read up on how to open your 360 case.

phoenix out.

self tweaking kills the warranty boss.. better I send back first before asking technician to do the DIY/

zOMG, I'm getting a major depression everytime I come to the forums! It's only been gone for 3 days. lol.

Weekend was totally a drag! bah.

Have been lurking around xbox.com forums regarding warranty and RMA issues, and to my horror lots of ppl are actually on their 3-5 consoles. Apparently many users whom return their sets, actually received a refurbish unit (which was definately spoilt to begin with, and had a quick fix). Failure rate for refurbish units are around 63% as some reported. This is in the US though. I knew bout it, but didn't really know it was so bad till it read it there. Really starting to get disapointed with M$.

Imma gonna hangout at the Nintendo forums. Maybe get a DS while waiting for the console to be back. Need to confirm with Djinn if he decides to send it back to Sg which takes over 1-2 months before I can get it back.

And even when I get it back, I really hope I get back a working unit, not a machine that will last me like 6 weeks or less again. I'll be fcukin' pissed if I have to send it back for the second time. All the worse case scenario thoughts are running wild in my head.

Oh my mint condition console, would I get a banged up looking refurbish console? Ya, I read some stories over on xbox.com too. ;P

Sorry guys, I just needed a space to rant. I feel much better. Cheers.

IIRC, there was another forumer having dvd drive issues after an update (last year's) i think the nick was xboxx or something. sorry to hear ur set is also inflicted.

the more broken sets they are, the larger their worldwide installed base (10.4 million??) way to go MS vmad.gif vmad.gif

mine is refurbish console after exchange. manufactured date is Feb 06, on top of the console there's seem to be small black fade out marking, maybe the old owner put something on top of the box. in the disc tray looks to be like a stains mark. opening the face plate reveal inside it some clogged up dusts.

What's up Katana. Guess I wont see you on Vegas for quite some time. hah.

What was the manufactured date for your first console? I'm guessing the manufactureed date for the refurbish set is older than your first?

How long did u take to get a refurbish set?

If I'm really gonna get back a refurbish set, hope it works like a charm and at least look good. I really took good care of my console and can still consider very very new. It's still a nice deco. lol ;P

lol, guess so.

my first console also Feb 06. but got another guy who exchange and got a Aug 06 one, guess it's pure luck.

after the phone call and confirming your xbox really have to be replaced, if they got stock it usually one week working days. but if no stock then can take a very long time.
