QUOTE(edoras81 @ Mar 1 2007, 04:52 AM)
Guys I too need some serious help...i recently purchased a Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54GS V6) and have set up everything. I've turned off VP and Upnp. As such here is what happens I notice that I can connect to the internet fine, however my X360 keeps giving me an IP address failure.

So what I did was I went to the settings page for my router and disconnected it from the modem and then my x360 works fine. However then I turn my 360 off and try to reconnect my modem from the settings page of my router and it gives me an authentification failure of the PPPOe. Then i just turned off my modem and turned it back on and I can reconnect to the modem through the router.

As such I think I can't connect to both my 360 and the modem at the same time but it can be done seperately.

Please advice. Thanks is advance.
P.S. I forgot to add one more thing I have turned of my wireless security i.e. no WAP or WEP or anything of that sort.

ur 360 set to PPPoE or normal? how did u connect ur 360 previously? direct to modem? if yes, pls remove the streamyx user/pass from the 360 and set it to normal LAN connection if u haven't already done so.

That's probably the solution...you didn't mention (or I didn't see you mention) that you were connected to router wirelessly. smile.gif

The answer to your question is i did connect my x360 directly to the modem. Also my 360 is set to PPPoE and how do I set it to noremal LAN connection?

In your X360, goto the SYSTEM tab, then goto NETWORK SETTINGS. After that click on EDIT SETTINGS.

Go to ADDITIONAL SETTINGS and remove all the PPPoE info.

^^

yeah, gow co-op was fun biggrin.gif

i can't really remember how the 360 menu looks like now... basically u go to the last tab, network settings... then somewhere in there u should able to choose between pppoe or automatic or manual (or something like that). disable the PPPoE, choose automatic ip.

edit: oh, someone post already, nvm then smile.gif

I would if i could but I can't although I can help you get some achievements via co op or as cannon fodder for games like R6 where you need to kill someone 10 times in a row...i wouldn't mind being a sitting duck....just send me an invite or you can pm me and make an appointment for a slaughterfest...hehehe

^^

u need to set port forwarding in your router. in order to have that working properly, u need to assign a static IP for ur 360. since u can't reserve static IP via DHCP on the wrt54g standard firmware, u need to set static IP manually in the 360 itself.

to set port forwarding in the wrt54g, go to: Application & Gaming > Port Range Forward and set these ports to your 360's IP address:
. UDP 88
. UDP 3074
. TCP 3074

just don't get the v5, its pretty unreliable... my colleague's v5 kept losing its settings every week or two. my dad's v5 died twice, now in RMA for the 2nd time.

i have a v3 (orig. firmware) at home worked fine for 1~2 years now (not using it as a router, just access point). i have a v4 (alchemy firmware), v5 (dd-wrt lite) and wrt54GL (dd-wrt) in the offfice, used as access point also, all working fine... weird how the v5 in the office didn't die on me rclxub.gif
