If u lock-in RM200k with Al Rajhi @ 4.40% n reinvest upfront int @ 3.70%, the returns from Al Rajhi is slightly higher than Affin
Having said tat, need to consider logistics issue unless both Al Rajhi n Affin is side-by-side

Wow.. really good calculation. notworthy.gif

QUOTE(Bussybody @ Jul 11 2016, 08:32 AM)
I have transferred my matured Hong Leong (HL) FD to current HL Islamic FD 6 months FD promotion and only entitled 4.1%.

I didnt realize it should be 4.15% for 6 months HL Islamic until i checked out over here.

Any idea why I was only given 4.1% and not 4.15%?

Can i email/call HL Islamic customer service and ask for clarification?
*
The 4.15% was last month's promo rates. The promo wasn't available at my Mach account anymore. They auto renewed my fd to 3.3%. So I think I will be transferring mine to another bank.

For those intending to hop on the 4.5% Interest for 12 Months FD at Affin bank, my advice is to do so quickly. According to one of the officers at Affin, they have already achieved more than half of their allocated quota. When I was there at their branch, a lot of people who came in to enquire or to place FD because of the 4.5% promo.

good to know  rclxms.gif

and yeah, the branch is not crowded. went once there. very friendly staff.
take Q number straight to counter because no customers  thumbsup.gif
well it's expected the quota is fast finishing.. the promo is among the best now on the market..
and everyone is rushing before the BNM meeting.. there's risk they might reduce OPR..
*
Affin bank branches are usually not crowded. When I went there just now, there werent anybody in the bank but I had to wait for 5 mins before they called my number. If not for the 4.5%, I wouldn't even walk in to that bank. laugh.gif

That's correct.. few years back i deposit $$ into their FD and not more than 3 people inside at that time..

i guess affin interested in hire purchase and housing loan, cause when i go up to first floor i can see many clients.
*
Some Public and hong leong bank branches, when you press for the queue no on the machine, you are almost called instantly to the counter.

Give you some free time to reply forums while waiting.... tongue.gif

Try going to the bank when its during peak period, ie few days before Raya or CNY! sweat.gif

But then again, the 4.5% interest rates are still unrivalled. No conditions, no need to open any accounts, no need for CASA. Just walk in with your IC and bank draft and done. rclxms.gif Oh and if you intend to transfer / ibg over, you need to have an account with them first before you do that. Otherwise, bring a banker's cheque.

Did online termination for last week matured OCBC FD. But daily transfer limit max 10k, have to transfer out few times !  doh.gif

Why can't OCBC increase it to 50k like some other banks !  hmm.gif
*
My friend's Citibank Flexi Housing loan account was hacked using email phising (yes, he was careless) and he lost RM50k in one day.

I have CB acct. Not sure how they hack into the second level security of h/p PIN.

Anyway, banks like MBB, CIMB & RHB also limit 30k per day, SCB, HL & Affin 50k per day. UOB ibg 50k per day.

10k is kind of low nowadays.  biggrin.gif
*
Yup. For Public Bank, they would require you to use their Token to garner TAC every time you perform a transaction if you want to raise transfer limits above Rm10k.

What type of carelessness your friend made ?
Did he reply to so called "Citibank" email ?
*
Embarrassingly YES. And his money got transferred to a CIMB account and all the RM50k got withdrawn within an 1 Hours time. By the way, lets not derail the thread. If not the mods will be breathing down our necks.

Does that means other banks promo may also halt? for eg. Bank Rakyat (the latest one shared just now)..

So after Affin Bank, what is the next best deal...sigh..lesson learnt..dun wait.. bye.gif

tot want to go tomorrow morning..
*
Every bank will be scrambling to review their rates as of now. Couldn't blame them. But then again, you will see fd interests going up again if their funds are low again.
