depends whether you have time to game or not. If you are a hardcore gamer who play everyday for few hours or more and you are not a picky gamer, then extra/ deluxe would be good. but of course every month the games that sony offer might not suit your taste. As long the game is in the catalog for extra/ deluxe, you don't need to pay anything (during PS plus subscription active period), once sony remove from the catalog (probably in a month+-), then you have to pay for it to play. except the game that you claim from monthly free PS plus games, then it will be free as long you are subscribe to PS plus. YES, you must claim it.

if you are gamer like me who play casually, then essential is good for me. imagine every month free 3 games also hardly finish, so don't need to talk about extra or deluxe.

during the early days free games might be different from different region, especially malaysia, after that all seems to be standardize

depends how early you start your PS plus, mine is all the way back PS3 era, 2009. So i'm not gonna give up... i still need to renew it although just expired recently

i have the same feeling as you bro... this year i haven't touch my PS4 pro at all am planning to stop subscript since membership until Sept this year. probbaly the only game i'm eyeing is Phantom Blade Zero
