Yep, also experienced such issues last night.. Haven't tested today, but guess it's still bad. Opensubs works.

r u using full desktop pc or htpc for kodi windows?

did u have to change some firewall settings?

i remember trying quasar on my windows 10 desktop, windows firewalls simply won't let the providers through.

with good reason, i wud think since they may be dodgy torrent proxies.

Subscene addon is working fine again.

Guys I have exactly same problem with shinchan..after quick googling there a statement says that traditional Quasar Provider doesnt work anymore and now there are new called Magnetic Provider.

i follow this link Magnetic Addon

After follow the steps I stuck at steps where to download my favourite provider. All will result in "installation failed" message.

Anyone can help? Do i need to upgrade to kodi v17 first? How to upgrade?

You are answering the wrong guy

Checked out the link and while this Magnetic Provider addon method seems interesting. I can state as fact, that the "traditional" providers still work and with the same Quasar version, Neo U1 and Kodi 16 as yours.
*Quasar was installed from the fusion repo...and
*Providers from the Pulsar Unofficial repo.
This has not only worked, but been auto-updating for quite sometime with no major issues... Just to confirm... done the following?...
Before installing the Quasar add-on you need to allow remote control. To do this, navigate to SYSTEM > Services > Remote Control and make sure that both “Allow remote control by programs on this system” and “Allow remote control by programs on other systems” are checked and enabled.

Not necessarily, as V16 is stable.. but yeah, you can try V17.. You'd have to head over to the download section to manually download V17... under "developmental builds".
But before this.. Perform a fresh start and follow the instructions here to install the providers. I noticed, the site mentioned;

Nevertheless, try the traditional providers first and if it still fails (it shouldn't as I'm experiencing no issues) then switch to the newer providers.

Get n install both official and unofficial quasar repos, incl the mirror.

Then u select all repos, find and install quasar mc providers, not magnetic.

If u now hv magnetic, uninstall them, install again.

Kodi 16.1 is very stable, works good.

I installed Quasar so long ago I can longer remember doing anything special than other addons

btw I am using Windows 7 desktop.

the old quasar mc providers - some are working.

the new magnetic ones - some show installed but they don't turn up when u run quasar. this may be temp, perhaps one of these hiccups that the owners are taking time to fix it.

on top of that, i think the providers are still very much playing hide-and-seek after last year's series of shutdown, voluntary or otherwise.

we can expect that to continue, just play what we can find!

thanks for the update but tired yesterday night around 10pm and it is down again. so end up using opensubs

install 3 - subscene, opensubs and podnapisi.

if a sub exist, one of them will have it.

Which subtitle u mentioned above is the best?

for kodi, i like opensubs.

I actually given up using Quasar .. Hope somehow there are some better addons or a more stable version of Quasar can be used..

Anyway, just my observation.. I'm not 100% sure though.. I've tried disabling my firewall on my w7 , suprisingly it runs further for Quasar (as in able to search and some results actually showed) as compared to enabling the firewall which has no search return at all..

But, funny thing is I tried it on GOT S6E7 and selected EZTV source 720p , it manage to download for 2-3% then it totally stop.. However searches under movie section (particularly Now You See Me 2) no source was found, even though the firewall was disabled..

So I got damn feddup, end up relying on other addons for my movies currently.. Only downside is can't play on a better audio source

Anyone knows if the there's Cantonese version of Infernal Affairs drama in Kodi?
