You seriously need to know the meanings of aperture, ISO and shutter speed before even taking pictures with a dSLR. doh.gif

My advise is to go take pictures of landscapes and static objects before even thinking of taking pictures of a fashion show.

firstly, thanks for your advice.. but i think i already understand all of those.

i already set my arpeture to the biggest, iso already boost up to 800.. i dun wanna go to 1600 coz the image will appear very noisy. shutter speed i cannot go low, first reason coz those models dont pose there for a long time.. and secondly, my hand aint that steady anyway..

and dont tell me not to shoot at a fashion show, coz i go there to learn.. no to shoot for some magazine or anything rclxub.gif , by saying that.. meaning all noobs must shoot lens cap at home? cannot go out and shoot events and learn from them? doh.gif

Put it this way ... there is enough fashion shows in town for the entire year for you to shoot, continue to practice. What CompMac tried to imply is that you need to have some 'head knowledge' first before go crashing into events that requires techical setups. I was there in the afternoon, reason being to take some shots so I can SHOW you guys later how some of your shots SHOULD be.

I will be posting them up my own topics later, I want ALL of you fashion show newbies to catch up with me on questions, flame me there! laugh.gif

you know maRx, you had 6 costumes from the same girl. so IINM that comes to about 2 runway shows already.

so during that period, surely you would've viewed your pics in viewfinder and attempted to improve it. right? smile.gif

relax on CompMac's advice, cos from my POV i don't blame him for saying as such because you pictures (#1 to #6) made it look as if you don't understand them.

then also you didn't set white-balance properly. look at my gallery from Fashion On 1. (i'll be updating with new sets shortly).

my first round shots were yellowish due to my silly self forgetting to set white-balance.

my second round on the other hand, the settings are different. angle and lightings available. so it was a whole new game again. set to AWB at first, thought it looked ok but later think it doesn't. then went to Tungsten, however shutter speed didn't set that well so i had a round where it was mostly over-exposed. arrgghhh.

I posted one pic and mentioned the settings on my camera, attracted some smart-elek as well. I never look down on newbies, reason being why so many 'big camera and big lens' owners look down on newbies is that the hassle of answering their twenty questions is unbearable and seeing them fiddling with their small lil' kit lens is disgusting. If you wanna learn, you have to ask, that's a normal practice. Keep quiet and you learn nothing. Give you a big lens also you shoot nothing. I will try to help as much as I can, I also cannot answer everyone coz I dun claim to know everything.

My tip to you all is ... spending 30% of the time shooting and 70% of the time in front of the PC tweaking your work won't make you a better photographer, it only makes more a software guru out of you at the end of the day. Learn to get it right the first time, if you dun get it then ask, and shoot, and ask, and shoot ... that's how everyone should learn and we shall learn from each other.
