QUOTE(Najmods @ Aug 5 2007, 01:02 AM) I found a W950i 2nd going cheap Midland set, but the screen is slightly scratch and the phone is rather slow. Should I buy it? UIQ 3.0 is rather slow compared to other OSs, eg. S60 FP1 or WM5/6. But if you can get used to it, no harm trying. It's the most stable UIQ 3.0 device up to date. And, depends if you can bear with the scratch, I've not seen it and don't know how bad it is, and everyone has a different tolerance level towards scratches. So it all depends on yourself.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Aug 5 2007, 02:58 AM) Yeah I've tried it, quite slow, and I thought my W850 is slow. The scratch is about 3-4mm long on top right of the screen What is the software to make it faster? I been reading this thread for quite some time but I forgot the name of the software Nothing can make it significantly faster as that's the way the OS operates. Maybe by installing Swiss Manager the device would be more stable, that's all.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Aug 5 2007, 12:47 PM) More stable? You mean its not stable in the first place? SE launched 3 UIQ 3.0 phones last year, starting with M600, W950i and then lastly P990i. P990i was initially very unstable with frequent hangs and restarts, but this issue was solved in stages whereby the latest firmware was reported to be doing OK. W950i since launched is the most stable device, and during my days of using it, it only hanged on me once, that's without the installation of Swiss Manager to manage the memory.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Aug 5 2007, 02:10 PM) Oh good, you tested this phone already. It's rather sluggish in terms of performance, one question, in Walkman, does it need to tap twice to open the next submenu? Like from Artist > 'Name of artist' > 'Name of album' EDIT: I still not buying this phone, still thinking about it IIANM, tapping on it once initiates the next level in Walkman mode. But it's been >6 months since I used it, so can't really recall. Apart from the presence of Walkman interface in the W950i (which is really cool and nice to use, easily one of the best among Walkman phones), there's not much difference from the M600i I'm using now.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Aug 6 2007, 12:04 AM) Hey thanks Watching video on this thing is lovely! Nice and big display. BTW what kind of equalizer did you use? Using Pop now mate. But I don't really listen to music on it. More of an organizer phone for me (M600i, already sold off my W950i some time ago).

QUOTE(wgaf1 @ Aug 13 2007, 12:13 AM) hi sifu, any recommendation for GPS software for uiq3?been searching for years, but non, haih!~ It has been mentioned before earlier on in this thread, that to use GPS on a UIQ 3.0 powered device, you need a Garmin 10x, BT GPSr. A Garmin BT GPSr retails around RM 699.
