If Thorus set, they will fix it for you FOC but for AP set, I think it's not free. For ori set, the service centre is much better, don't charge you for minor minor problems even though it's not covered in the warranty. I remember last time for my K700i, I changed the joystick twice from the service centre FOC.    Then, when the warranty was over, I've sold it to somebody else because I knew that the joystick will fail again in the near future because it's a defect in the design. As for P990i, if it continues to be sluggish after all the firmware updates for this year, guess I'll also say bye bye to it too. 

Why my P990i sometimes the light would just stay on and battery drain until 0%. Is it a bug? I just put it on table and nothing was touching it.

okay.. what's the latest firmware for 'Generic Singapore'? after updating it, it seems like my CDA remains the same, although I forgot to jot down everything before flashing it.

Not sure if I'm imagining it, but it does seem slightly faster than before. The 'speaker' option when I call someone finally appears so I can easily select it - previously I have to dig through tons of options before chancing upon it.

Certainly improved Now's hoping for Generic Singapore to be updated to the level where Generic World is at.

Totally agree, M600 and W950 should have Wi-Fi and also an onboard camera too, otherwise, these two models will be very complete for the average user. Hope the specs for P700i are true and I'll consider selling my P990i away for it. Hahaha.

So fast thinking of selling away your P990i liao? Hahaha. Guess I'm not alone. Most of my friends using P990i traded in for a Dopod, O2, etc. I guess we can stand the sluggish interface and it has tons of stability issues like auto restarting by itself. Lastly, the worst of all, lack of apps for the UIQ 3 platform. I guess my P900i was far better. As long as P700i is stable and speedier than P990i, I'll definitely buy it for the Wi-Fi and 3G feature. The megabass will come as a standard feature for playing music.

Not so soon for ori sets as Thorus is famous for their firm prices unlike Midlands sets, they will slash their prices to increase demand. The P990i ori prices are still RM24XX but AP price is less than half. I guess AP companies stocking this model sure loose money big time. Nobody wanna buy this model, that explains why I'm unhappy with my P990i. Just hope that P700i will live up to the hype. That will probably be my replacement model for my P990i before K850i hits the road.

Just 1 more thing need to know before I proceed to order my unit. For those ap owners, are you guys able to update the firmware on your own?

ok, let me explain. if ur set is a hong kong set. u can only update back to ur hk newest firmware thru diy. but if u update thru SECS, u can request them to flash ur phone's firmware to the generic world 2 latest firmware tat is said to be much much more stable than others. correct me if i made a mistake. Cheerzz.....

Ok then since can diy flash I should be confirm with my purchase. Was struggling between wm5 device and p990i but since p990i is hell lot cheaper, I guess I grab it.

I really don't see a major differences between the P1 and P990.

P1 has 3.2 megapixels in oppose to P990's 2.
P990i has full QWERTY thumb board in oppose to P1's semi.

Since I still havent got my p990, so I wont comment much on the memory reboot thing. And 1 thing which I can garantee would be it wont as cheap as p990 now. I bet the price of the p1 will at least cost more than 2 units of p990i ap set, which can be get around rm1.1k+ now.

I believe the P1i is the replacement for the M600i.

The true P series range only churn our a replacement every 2 - 3 years, not this soon.

And I still believe that this P1i is positioned under the P990i, as early this year I read an article that Sony Ericsson positioned the P990i to be their FLAGSHIP model for the year 2007.
