Why does it break so easily? Is P900i using a different method to hold the stylus as I've been using for a few years, it holds my stylus nicely and tightly. Hopefully, my new P990i is the same though.

QUOTE(unknowndevices @ Feb 12 2007, 06:58 PM) that's the spirit of p990i owner... Hahaha, I won't go to the dark side, I still like my P990i very much even though, some might find it a tad bulky but i'm used to its size and furthermore, it's quite a handy gadget to me. I guees I have no reason to sell it. Flashing of firmwares at outside for AP sets is a big no no, it's best to do it yourself. Cheaper.rm45 for flashing to the latest firmware... wah!...rm200 for chinese input version? |

Well, it looks bulky but then it's still lighter than my P900i to be honest, it's slightly thicker but it fits my pocket nicely so no complaints there. On the plus side, if you throw it at a snatch thieve, the chances of you hitting him with the P990i is higher.

QUOTE(teikwing @ Feb 14 2007, 11:03 AM) white ones more popular coz the its more Ipod-lookalike. that's what people told me when asked 'em why they bought white colour. Yeah but you must know how to take care of it because it can get dirty easily. I have a Malay friend, he owns a M600i white colour but his phone turned yellowish now, it's because he answers calls while he's eating nasi melayu, he eats with his hands so imagine the oil from the food on the phone's surface. |

I get what you mean Bro, honestly, I didn't even get to try out the P990i before buying it as most shops are displaying the dummy models like what you have mentioned. Some authorised SE centres have the actual unit but sadly they're not willing to open the box and let me try it.
Buying a hp these days are different from last time, we need to depend on reviews from magazines and feedback from friends. Of course, if your friend has the same model as the one that you want. It will be a lot easier. QUOTE(nicholas84 @ Feb 15 2007, 12:43 AM) |

Lizy? What a name for a phone? Honestly, M600i is prettier looking that this one. It's a step behind to be honest in terms of its design and layout.

I hope they're not planning to release such a phone into the market, I seriously doubt that it will sell well. Since the picture is heavily pixelated, it might be a fake too. After W880i

I have emailed to SE Malaysia regarding HPM-82 b'coz they officially listed M600i as a supported model in their website, dunno why the buttons didn't work for your phone. Well, it works with P990i, K610i, K618i and K800i as I've these phones at home. Hopefully, I'll get an answer from them.
QUOTE(G-Izzat @ Feb 24 2007, 10:40 AM) Well, only the forward and rewind button can be used. the play/pause button and volume buttons can't be used. But when i press the next track button,it will go to the previous song and when i press the previous track button,it will go to the next song. I've tried it on the K610,K750 and Z610. It works well with those phones. But on the Z610,the previous/next button problem is there. |

The only thing I hate about P990i is the alarm, it's really soft and unlike my Nokia, it could wake everyone up. That's why I never used it as an alarm. My alarm doesn't go off but sometimes when I select a particular ringtone as my alarm, the selected ringtone didn't work, but instead it played the default ringtone. Very weird but it doesn't happen all the time, once in a while.

Well, I think M600i is much stable than P990i. It's still buggy even if I have the latest firmware. It's a far cry from my old P900i. Of course, I'll use it for another year but if there's not much improvement after that, I guess I'll sell it away then. I guess giving it another year sounds reasonable and I do hope it will be as stable as my P900i. I noticed my P990i restarted by itself a couple of times while surfing the net or reading my word documents.

My P990i is running on the latest firmware but it's still laggy and unstable. M600i and W950i is running on the same specs but they're far more stable. My brother is using W950i now and no whatsoever problems reported, it might hang once in a while but that's considered minor if compared to mine. I have freed all the internal phone memory but it doesn't help much, it's a little better but not that great. Come to think of it, I prefer my K800i, it's a far better phone.
QUOTE(teikwing @ Feb 27 2007, 08:52 PM) @nicholas84 : dont think there's any GPS software for UIQ3 right now. @sunauto : well..i never use P series before..is it that bad & laggy for P990i? M600i shares the same specs with it right? mine running smoothly when viewing docs & surfing net without any prob. weird huh? @blinky : hehe..u getting a new one? well..M600i is definitely a good buy. never regretted buying it. that's why i'm reluctant to sell it off..still in love with it.. |

Well, I'm a supporter of SE's P series but honestly P990i really lags and pretty unstable, it's nowhere near my old P900i but as I've said, I'll hang on to it for another year and if it's still the same, I guess I'll let go of it. To honest, I'm a little disappointed with P990i, if M600i has Wi-Fi, I would have bought it instead since it's a much more stable phone. My cousin is using one and I can see his phone is far better than mine.

You can use Magix Ringtone Maker to make the ringtones louder. I think the software came free with a particular magazine, I saw it in MPH. Some softwares allow you to adjust the loudness of the ringtone, that should do the trick. M600i is not that bad, at least it's still louder than my K800i. You should be happy with it.

QUOTE(unknowndevices @ Mar 1 2007, 06:24 PM) yups...sunauto which phone magazine are referring to? I forgot the name of the magazine because I seldom buy handphone magazines, it's on display, you can't miss it, if not. If I have time, I'll try to check the name of the magazine again. The software is not the full version but at least it can increase the volume of the ringtone, that's better than nothing, the full version can do a lot more than this.can help to check back...this would help out the alarm problems faced by UIQ users(hoped so sad to hear from you teikwing? guess...you got scolded by your lecturer? hoped sunauto manage to get/remember the magazine title... Seems like Symbian OS models not compatible with HPM-82 but stated as being compatible in SE's website. All the while, I'm using it with my K800i so no issues detected, I guess I'm falling in love with my K800i more than my P990i, the bugs and all the lagging really reminded me of my brother's N73. At least, he's happy using a W950i now and that is still a better phone than P990i. If it's not because of the Wi-Fi and the familiar UI that I have been using for years with my P900i, I would have sold it away but anyway, I'll be giving it a year and if future firmware updates can resolve all the stability and lagging issues, then arrghhh ....... I'll sell it and buy another phone. Maybe will be my last Symbian phone from SE till they have better ones in the future.

Loose connector is probably due to plugging and unplugging your phone too often. Had this problem once with my P900i last time, the service centre didn't charge me for it but they told to unplug the accessories gently, if not, I'll risk damaging the phone's socket and also the corresponding accessoring. I've learnt my lesson from them and now I treat those add on accessories with great care.
QUOTE(hypermax @ Mar 3 2007, 10:15 AM) What do you mean by "still"? It's a recognised issue for long already? Damn that SE. Never said it in their web site properly. Added on March 3, 2007, 2:20 pmBtw, the system connector socket on my p990i seems to have problem. My phone can no longer get connected to handsfree, data cable and even charger. I have to plug in the connector really tight before any of the above mentioned cables can function. Anyone encounter the same problem? Can this be repaired? Btw, my phone is only 1 month old. |

If Thorus set, they will fix it for you FOC but for AP set, I think it's not free. For ori set, the service centre is much better, don't charge you for minor minor problems even though it's not covered in the warranty. I remember last time for my K700i, I changed the joystick twice from the service centre FOC.
