Does anyone use an external GPS device with P990? Can anyone recommend one? :)

Not sure if I should make a separate topic as I'm fairly new to external GPS devices (and GPS itself), but is TomTom a good mapping software to use with P990?

Most importantly, does TomTom have Malaysian maps?

There's no supporting Malaysian maps for Symbian UIQ yet. So even if you buy an external GPSr, you can't utilize GPS.
Malsingmaps does not support Symbian UIQ.

Ah that's seriously saddening. :( Just when I thought that I can do everything with my P990..

I've read so many post regarding AP set having problem updating the firmware thru internet, wonder how true are those posts? I am thinking of getting an AP set here.
*
From personal experience, I too thought it's impossible to update firmware via SEUS after hearing people talk about it. Mine is an AP set, and I happen to successfully update mine to the latest firmware on Generic Singapore.

got question...can your phone open three or four applications in one time...
would it freeze or hanged? hmm.gif
or is it works fine and use all the applications as usual? rolleyes.gif
wanted to know the firmware improvement... cool2.gif
*
Yeah so far it's ok for me.. Only that if I want to use heavy progs like Web, progs may close by themselves. I always use Swiss Pro Manager to close progs..

it seems to be...you need to insert in the MS slot thing... :hmm:
*
That means we can't use our memory card when that thing is plugged in?

Hmm.. not that I will be using the memcard while using wifi. It does seem a bit of a hassle to have to bring an external device around. >_>

I dunno about you all, but the phone seems OK for me so far - just a bit annoyed that I can't surf image-intensive sites on the Web browser and had to install Opera Mini which seemed to have better er, webpage managing capabilities than the built-in Web app.

Anyhow, one IMPORTANT question:

I was on the phone with my friend when he asked for another friend's contact which is in my phone book. I asked him to wait for a while, but realised that I don't know how to get out of that phone menu on my phone and browse through the phonebook (if you get what I mean..).

There's only Hold, More, and End Call options. How on earth do I go back to the main menu while still on the phone with my friend?

It should be the menu button, at least that is true for my ancient K700i, I imagine it should be the same for most (most I guess), SE phones sleep.gif
*
That's odd, because under More, there's a whole list of options.. except for the option to go to the Phonebook. =.= I'm using P990i btw.

I'm pretty sure the P990i has a built-in Task Manager, no?

If you do, during your call, click on the Task Manager icon on the top right hand corner, and from there you can click on your Phonebook under "Recent Applications".

That worked for my M600i, let me know how it goes.
*
Hmm I never really thought of that. Will check it out too. :D

Guys, i followed the instruction for the chinese font. successfully installed and it can show chinese in my inbox and also file manager->music that has chinese song.

but now is the problem. it couldn't show the chinese when i play the songs. in the music player. it shows rubbish word and symbols. anyone solve this problem b4?

Thankss
*
Isn't this more likely because of the encoding of the Chinese characters on your mp3 itself before you transfer it to your phone?

This get into problem when need to reload using phone call. Eg, call for 122 to reload from maxis or 1312 to add activ5 . Did you also meet this kind of prob? I am using the latest firmware
