Each to their own. :) I didn't quite like how P990 looks at first, but in the end I've gotten used and even fond of it.

QUOTE(killerapp @ May 13 2007, 02:16 AM) is it possible to put the gps receiver and make it work on the p990i?have anyone try it and is it okay?and is there any free maps to be downloaded for malaysia and australia? thanks... That's the exact question I've been wondering.. apparently there aren't any malaysia-compatible GPS software for UIQ3 yet. :/ as in, no malaysian maps. |

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ May 13 2007, 11:56 AM) There actually is, but from what I understand, the drawback is that you need to use Garmin MobileXT + GPS10x / Malsingmaps combination. Ah.. I see. And I read too that some companies are reluctant to roll out mapping software for UIQ3 as the user base is low compared to other OSes like Windows. Why I say it's a drawback, is because Garmin GPS10x costs RM 7xx, and AFAIK other BT GPS receivers cannot work with Garmin MobileXT. |

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ May 13 2007, 10:36 PM) That, and also coupled with the fact that GPS is not that popular yet in our part of the world compared to Europe or North America. Hence there's not much motivation on part of the developers to come up with something for our region, as we have to face the fact, developer's develop applications hoping that they get some money in return. That is so true, but hopefully it'll change in the months to come because I intend to stick around with my P990 much longer than I thought I would.QUOTE(blinky @ May 13 2007, 10:36 PM) Of course, because not a lot of models are utilizing this OS. Well.. not when there aren't really a lot of programs developed for it, but yeah it does seem sort of 'exclusive' :PMotorola A925, A1000, SE P800, P900, P910, P990. So it gives a certain exclusivity to this OS, I like :D |

Just a question, I've recently animated a GIF file, and set it as a screensaver for my phone. For some reason, when the screensaver is playing halfway, the screen will automatically fade out after about 10 seconds or so. Can I not prolong the fade out, so that it'll only fade out after the screensaver has finished playing completely?

I'm semi-regretting buying P990 so much earlier when the price drops insanely barely 4 months later D: That's about RM1k drop in value (AP set, 'course), but then again I can't complain much when it's like.. buying cars.

I'm also having tons of application errors after upgrading the firmware on Generic Singapore. Firstly, not all applications I backup can be restored, thus I have to reinstall the programs. But when I reinstall them, it kept saying there are corrupted data.
Any ideas? |

QUOTE(kapitan @ May 23 2007, 04:12 PM) Yeah... Never mind, thanks! Finally managed to get my programs reinstalled, and removed the unnecessary ones. Now it's working fine again. :)Just remove some folders in the memory stick like e.g. SYS, RESOURCE, SYSTEM Then do a master reset... After that should be fine... |

I think we should edit the first post and include a 'Frequently Asked Questions' section, shouldn't we? It'll definitely benefit both parties.

QUOTE(hari @ Jun 2 2007, 02:06 AM) Bought mine last week. I used to use P800. Frankly I've no idea why - but you can click on the Task Manager and switch apps from there, assuming that your Calendar has already opened.I remove the flip. When I was in the middle of a call, I cannot go into calender and other application. Why? |

No original MSPD would be that cheap, so it has to be china brand.

I dumped in 1GB worth of songs, and a few hundred MB of videos. That's about it. :P
Btw, I've a question about the backup feature in the Sony Ericsson program for P990. I'm lending my phone to my friend as I'm travelling overseas, and I'd like to backup sensitive SMSes before removing them. Question is, when I restore the backup containing only the 'Unified inbox', will my contacts, applications, etc, disappear as those weren't backup-ed? Or will the restore simply overwrite the current unified inbox when I choose to restore it? |

I'll repost my question since it wasn't answered - not meaning to sound rude, but I'm leaving somewhere else this coming Saturday and the day is approaching fast

QUOTE(G-Izzat @ Jun 5 2007, 08:51 PM) Anyone can help out Saigo with his question? Thanks =p In the meantime, guess I'll try backuping all of the files first.. don't quite like to do that actually, 'cause when I restore the applications, they'll all be corrupted and I have to reinstall again..I haven't use the m600 for quite some time. But I think, it will only overwrite just the inbox. |

Well, referring to the backup SMSes question I had, I tried backuping Unified Inbox, deleted a few SMSes in my phone, restored it - and tada, the FAILED TO RESTORE message cropped up. -__- For some reason, all of my SMSes are restored though despite that message.

Basically it's just plugging in your phone to your computer, run the Update program, and follow the instructions exactly. I've done that twice with no trouble with my AP P990.
Also remember to BACKUP everything you want saving. After updating the firmware, everything is slate new.. although the backup can be a bit screwy at times. |
