Dear fellow enthusiasts, I have a laptop with locked BIOS. Tried to bypass it through the hardware, but due to limited time and experience, failed. Send it to tech, he said need to get new rom, probably order from dealer who got parts from China, quoted RM230. Just to know whether I am being duped. Any opinion/view is highly appreciated.

Tried this myself, but no effect, I thought may be I did it wrong (not very familiar with laptop motherboard). Texted the tech regarding this, he said he tried it too, but nothing happened as well, because the rom is encrypted.

You won't be able to find a jumper and removing the battery does nothing.

QUOTE(Necrosis @ Apr 26 2016, 04:54 PM) I see. Any other solution then? I wish someone here can tell me if they find another way too. I used to work in a company last time where they set the BIOS password to laptops. Since we couldn't figure out what was set for some of the laptops, we had to throw them away. Literally took apart the whole laptop and disconnected whatever that was not soldered on, no go. Lenovo laptops btw.

QUOTE(Necrosis @ Apr 26 2016, 05:14 PM) Can't boot to anything. then i dunno how. if still can boot to os, can try update the bios. that sometimes wipes old bios password with it. edit:- try to ask toshiba if they know the backdoor password for your laptop's bios?
