the m-audio trigger finger looks more versatile. I'm always skeptical when it comes to touch pads or touch screens. Ever tried mixing with a multi touch screen before? Sensitivity is so low. shakehead.gif

hiring people means extra $$$. If i were in msia it's ok, but here in germany you're looking at about at least 40 EUR an hour, which is about RM 200. A couple of gigs like that and i would've spent enough money to buy my own sequencers anyway  laugh.gif

depends on who u wanna hire la actually... there's not many vj around in malaysia.

actually the trigger finger is versatile... it can be use as a midi controller for ableton.. all you need to know is how to program the midi commands to fully utilize it... unless software sounds are too light for you... but that's all crap all you need its good vst/dxi plugins to put some weights on your sound u wanted.

Hi Bassix, since you're in Germany you should try to check out Native Intrument's Kore system. It may be a little overkill for what you're trying to do but still worth having a look.

IMHO, your best bet would be Ableton Live with a controller of your choice. Again being in Germany, I'm sure you can find music stores to try out different controllers and find the one you're most comfortable with. Ableton's looping and control flexibility is second to none especially for live performances. Having said that, try not to give up searching for a live drummer, a real drummer can add a lot to your performances even if it's just simple beats.

Checked out KORE. And although i would love to have something like that, i have a feeling it's way out of my league laugh.gif . I am currently working with nuendo 2.1. It is possible to use live and has some nice patches too, but a laptop is at the moment out of budget. So i'm looking for cheaper alternatives to make loops and one-touch sequences. Not only for drums but guitar and MIDI sounds as well. I currently am eyeing a roland GR-50 with a GK-2A MIDI PU on ebay.

i'm looking for something like this:
Clip 1

at minute 2:54, you can see him pressing something and then the vocal backing comes in. I think it's something like a trigger-finger only used to playback recorded samples. So like a looper

For those interested, here is the rest of the song:

the trigger finger has more knobs and faders. The korg X-Y pad can only control 2 parameters at the time. I think the m-audio one is a better buy. Now the question arises, is there a foot controller for these things as well?

yea something like the roland FC200. But using a controller to control a controller seems rather illogical though... laugh.gif . In the FC200 case, it would probably go straight into my sound module/PC.

But will there be a problem with overlapping?. For example, i assign button 1 on the trigger finger to "start" and foot switch 1 on the FC200 to "start". Means i will be able to start the loop with either the TF or the FC right? And no conflicts or problems?

What about faders? the FC200 has volume pedal and if i accidentally assign one of the TF's faders to volume as well, which one will be the dominant controller since both go straight into the sound module / software?
