Hey guys, i just bought my s7e today. Should i update as ive been reading up that alot of connectivity issues and battery drain issue occur after the update. Please advice. thanks

Since I've taken some flak on the previous thread regarding my statement above... I figure that some elaboration and update is warranted.

I was travelling last week using the phone quite extensively as both gps, surfing for info, translate and camera (shot 10GB worth of photos and clips) and the problem keep popping up often enough to be worrisome as I was relying on the phone for everything.

Oh.. there's also the issue of google maps location being quite inaccurate showing my location popping from one place to another place. My wife's ip6+ didn't have that issue and my M9 used during the last trip didn't have such issues too.

Strange enough, it was spot on accurate when I wasn't travelling.

Anyhow, it got annoying enough that I updated the firmware (something I wouldn't do otherwise when travel) and the problem went away. Well... except the google maps location thing... that still got all over the place.

Just update it, update resolved most issue not generate more issue. I dunno where you read latest firmware generate a lot issue, it fixing nearly all the issue not generate more.

Probably you long never use or 1st time using Samsung, Samsung always rush out their product and initial firmware often got issue. After 1 or 2 updates all problem will gone.

Congratulate most your problem is fixed. For that inaccurate location issue, the Google Maps kind of suck actually especially recently. I threat that is Google Map issue.

Is there a way not to update the phone or it auto update?

Also i cannot connect to win10..it connect and dc..but the phone is in charged mode

btw why u don wanna update..to switch it off go to settings>about device>download update automaticly set it to off

Yeah its my first samsung. And i thought htc first firmware was bad.

As for google map, its strange cos my wife also using google maps on ios with no problem. And i have no problems with it in Taipei.

That's weird. I have no problem with Google maps locating my location. Did you enable both Wifi and GPS location?

Why you don't want to update? Does't make sense at all, you no need PC to update, it is all OTA and OTA file size is small. PC normally will be full ROM download.

What I mean is I don't have problem locating it but I do have problem getting a correct place, Google Map often give me some place I don't want.

HTC 1st firmware for me is kind of ok, I mean in M8 as that the only HTC I used before.

Yes.

I've only encountered the issue when I was in Tokyo last week.

At first I thought it could be interference or something but same thing happens in the countryside (Hakone).

Sometimes it shows my correct location and suddenly jumps showing my location one street away. Sometimes even back and forth.

I actually face this in my working place before few times for my S6 Edge, Note5 and S7 Edge. It show I at Italy or some others Europe country! but I actually at Malaysia! I know this as my weather widget auto detect my location incorrectly. I not making the story, it really happen!

Now I think back it seems I didn't face this issue when I was using One M8, Nexus 6 and G4. hmm...

Loving the VR! Kudos to few people who poison me today.

I always immediately update all my phones to latest firmware once is available. For some I even flash foreign country versions if is available earlier
I don't have worries about any issues
Just downgrade back if one doesn't like it
Most comments on updates are often mixed n I only trust my own assessment

After update, this hp just turn to nearly perfect.
The performance really smooth and i never face any hang since then. Those who still not update their phone, just update it.
Feels the real power & beauty of S7e.

No news. I dont think Samsung will bring it in anyway. I assumed sales of S7e is already good enough for them.
