I think two or three weeks ago I offered someone in Garage Sale RM1,200 for a used one and was accused of low balling. Now I'm glad I got rejected coz I'm getting a new one for just RM200 more smile.gif

QUOTE(whazzzzup @ Oct 1 2016, 03:53 PM)
hi guys, i just get my mate 8 from gtronics at gemfive.

Order on thurs, get the phone today.

In Gemfive sales page, it is written 1 year warranty by Huawei Malaysia.

However, i checked imei code through huawei malaysia site, the warranty is untill May 2017.

Means this is not a new phone isn't it?

Since the warranty only left 8 months instead of 1 year as per other new phone.

Second thing, i didn't get any official receipt in the parcel. Is it a common practice when we buy phone from such sites?
*
Hi bro, I ordered mine from LAZADA, also thru seller Gtronics, and similar to your situation, a check on my IMEI in Huawei's website and the expiry is June 2017. I did get a tax invoice with the date on it, so I can use that in the event of dispute for warranty claim.

contact satugadget to ask why warranty not 1 year
*
As mentioned I have the tax invoice so in the event of any dispute I'll raise it directly to Huawei. But for now I'm willing to leave it as it is. Waiting for my Spigen casing to arrive before using the phone smile.gif

u will get the tracking detail by email once ur item is shipped. no need to call them.
*
As far as tracking is concerned, so far Gemfive and 11street are pretty efficient. Lazada sucks. I've had my phone for four days and the tracking status still shows "Your item is packed and ready for shipment"...

Updated to B193 and my phone just did a random reboot by itself, which was weird. Hopefully it's just a software bug. Anyways will monitor for a while since this will be my primary phone till I get my hands on the 7 Plus.

My initial impressions after three days of usage:-

1. EMUI takes a bit of getting used to. Although it keeps things simple, the feel is not as good as Samsung, Sony or HTC. There are no badges on many of my most used apps, which is an inconvenience.

2. Build quality is very good and premium. Good weight and balance for a 6" screen. Although the resolution is lower than most flagship, it's fine for day to day use.

3. Battery life is excellent. I had 4 hours screen on time with 43% remaining, something I couldn't achieve with my previous Android flagships. I used to think that 3000mAH and above was the sweet spot for an Android flagship battery capacity, now I think that should be 4000.

4. I'm not an avid gamer, so this 3GB/32GB combo is good enough for me. All smooth and no lag.

5. Fingerprint sensor is fast. Can rival iPhone's Touch ID.

6. Alas, the camera is disappointing.

Let's see if my impressions change after another few days. For now, at RM1.4k, this phone is quite a steal.

camera not that bad

Well for me, my last 3 phones were the iPhone 6 Plus, then iPhone 6S Plus followed by the Note 5. All three phones had superior camera to the Mate 8.

6 hours is too low for this phone unless one game a lot
I could easily get 10 hours on mainly internet stuffs without gaming
*
I've hit 4 hours SOT with 50% battery life so I agree it could go beyond 6 hours. Have yet to fully extend the battery to see it's limits.
