Refund of Overpayment on Maybank Card Account [ Maybank ]
24 MAY 2019

Dear Valued Cardmembers,

Effective 19 June 2019, we will no longer process requests for refund of any overpayment on an active Card which appears as a credit in your Maybank Credit or Charge Card account(s). In the event your Card account has an overpayment at any given time, the overpayment would be used to offset any subsequent outstanding balance of that Card.

For cancellation of Maybank Credit or Charge Card(s) with an overpayment, the Bank shall proceed to transfer the overpaid amount through the following options:

- Transfer to your other valid Maybank Credit or Charge Card account(s);
- Transfer to your Maybank Savings or Current Account(s), excluding Joint Account and MAE Account;
- You may opt to sign-up for a new Maybank Card or Maybank Savings or Current Account and transfer the overpaid amount to the respective account; or
- In the event you do not have any other valid Maybank Credit or Charge Card account(s) or Maybank Savings or Current Account(s), please do advise us on the Savings or Current Account details of another bank that you wish to transfer the overpaid amount to.

This is not about balance transfer, just that I was told about the OCBC Cashflo card which automatically splits each of your transactions above RM2,000 into 6 months split payment at zero %.  You also get to earn 0.5% cash rebate.  But the annual fee is a bit high - RM188.  So I'm still thinking.
I couldn't find any discussions here on Lowyat on this card which I think is new.

ocbc topic already stopped until new TS applied to start a new topic. nobody take up the job, so no ocbc topic exist for few years now.

Ya but she already cancel on 2018 and reapplied on apr 2019. So i thought she should be considered as new customer not more than 6 months?
*
read the whole sentence: within 6 months FROM approval date

not 6 months after previous cancellation

There's one very important word missed out in Important Notes No. 3 which is the word "first".
The terms and conditions for this campaign actually reads as:
"This Campaign is open to all principal cardholders of CIMB Bank, who are currently holding their first CIMB
Bank Credit Card for not more than 6 months from the card approval date"

So the criteria is "first" which means never in your life you have had a CIMB card before, and you must not have it for more than 6 months. It appears like they first want your business but they're afraid they get too much so they introduce this "first" and "no more than" term.
*
not necessary.

the bt promo only need new-to-card customers, not new-to-bank.

lilsunflower said this on 22 May 2019:

"Strictly new card holders only i.e. never ever held a card with CIMB before.

I used to be a CIMB cardholder, then cancelled in mid-2018. Reapplied in April and tried to apply for the BT and failed, because I had been a previous CIMB cardholder"

None. As in its a brand new card which I think I paid around RM25 (some charges that came up), so I have nothing (RM0) on the card.

What I wanted to do was to balance transfer a sum of about 8-10k in debt (i put it at 11k just in case) to the Maybank FC barcelona which was never used (except for paying off that RM25 thing that suddenly popped up).
That's why I found it really funny, considering that I opted for a 24 month plan.

again, what is your available CL, credit limit?

Hi. I would like some advice. Previously i've posted in here before about MBB BT, which somehow got rejected.

So last Friday I went to the bank after few applications rejected, and the answer the branch gave was "duplicate". It sounded very frustrating, and I was told I have to wait for another 3 months (with no exact date) and then try again (I don't even know try again as in via maybank2u, via email, or via branch).
Then, all of a sudden there's a call from Maybank (or an agent representing maybank) offering to do a "all loans consolidated", in which they say will consolidate my cc loan and personal loan.

I ask if I can only do CC loan, and they said no. It has to be personal loan together since both (the CC debt and personal loan) are from the same bank.

Supposedly the way they calculate, the highest interest charged is 5%, but when I ask further all they ask me to is send my name and IC over whatsapp, (or at least tell them during the phone call).
I'm not too keen because my personal loan has really good rates (from BSN, a certain programme), and if I add in the CC + personal loan (which was less than 7 months ago only), i'll be paying a total combined of 23, or was it 24k in total. Any advices?

Should I wait it out for 3 months?

I feel like i'm kinda being preyed on here.
*
simple answer for you: wait it out

you are desperate to do BT/loan transfer, that is why you felt preyed.

So if I pay the minimum stated on the statement which include the retail transactions and BT there will be no interest charge?
*
be extra mindful that new card T&Cs have been revised with different formula of calculation on minimum payment.

you cannot escape paying "less" for those installment-type tranactions -- eg flexi payments, balance transfers, etc. it will be charged at 100%.

even if you willing to pay the new min amount, the interest will still in effect on the outstanding.

example from Alliance:

Hi guys im required to make payment amount of 7K for purchase and would like to find out got any balance transfer promotion preferably 0% interest.

The merchant does not have installment facility so the only option is balance transfer

Current card im holding is Maybank, Citibank, UOB
*
when will that happen?

does the 7k payment has to be made with maybank/citibank/uob cards (to earn points/cashback)?

if not necessary, can apply PBB Quantum cards --- swipe your 7k with either quantum cards and convert to 12months installment @ 0%.
