I subscribed to 500mbps with the TP-link Archer C1200 for about 3months but the internet icon keep switching from orange to green in every 1-2mins until today. Speed test shows an average download speed of 120mbps and upload speed of 160mbps via 5g WiFi. Upload speed is always faster than download.

After installation when the technician conduct the speedtest with his laptop via wired connection shows around download speed of 430mbps. He said only wired connection is fast. As for the orange internet light on the router, he advised me that it’s the developer cabling problem and that there is nothing he can do.

The agent (Ms. Calista Tan) that I subscribed this TIME has been ignoring my inquiries and problems after completed installation and also didn’t supply me with the telephone handset that she promised to when I signed up with her.

I have lodge a complaint to my condo management on the internet cable and also email to TIME about this issue but there is no response from both sides.

Anyone face the same problem can kindly assists?

I also installed the Aztech Homeplug AV500 plus Wireless-N 300 (HL117EP + HL117EW) to my bedroom upstairs as it’s out of coverage but speed wise is horrible with around download speed of about 12-16mbps. Most of the time it got disconnected (with no connection) and keep saying password incorrect.

Hi,

5G band generally should be able to get higher than that, anyhow it also depends on your device.
The orange light on the Router has nothing related to the developer cabling problem...what a absurd excuse given.  That is the bug of this router, even latest firmware cannot 100% resolve it.
I'm not sure how is the arrangement you and your sales agent, as currently the are some changes on the Voice Home Packages.

Voice Package :
Basic --- No Free Phone, No Free Calls
Lite -- Add RM2.50/month, Free Cordless Dect Phone, Free 30mins/month
Max --  Add RM10/month, Free Cordless Dect Phone, Free 300mins/month

Note that Basic package, actually does Not comes with Dect phone.

For your Aztech powerline solution, try to test the bandwidth between 2 units, and relocate it nearer to each other, so that it is running on the same circuit and test the speed, DO NOT perform any Wireless testing, instead test with wired connection to narrow down possibilities.

Do drop me a whatsapp or email should yu require further assistance.
*
Huh? Not related to cabling problem? So I m not the only one with this problem I guess. I have also just updated the router to the lastest firmware via the email link from TIME few days ago but it’s still the same. Do you think that my speed is affected by these switching orange to green internet icon?

I logon to TIME account and voice package is pay as use, so maybe it’s not included but anyway I dun use the phone.

Unfortunately my MacBook Air laptop do not have Ethernet socket for testing wired connection. Shall try to relocate the Homeplug upstairs nearer and try again.

By the way if I wanna install another router for upstairs, I reckon I would need to pull a cable from the modem located within the circuit box area to upstairs? Any good recommendation for a better router? By then I can get TIME technician to come see that there is no blinking orange internet icon on my new router and I can’t then ask for replacement unit.

Listen to me. GET YOURSELF A NEW ROUTER. I recommend the TP-Link Archer C7 v4, or the Asus RT-AC1300UHP. Once you change router, you won’t have this problem anymore. The technician is talking shit, and he shouldn’t even be a technician in the first place, as he don’t know what he is talking about. Don’t even bother to contact the useless agent.  Buy a new router, either one I recommend above, and set it up, and connect on 5Ghz, 80MHz, and you will get a decent speed.
*
Thanks will go and check on your above recommended router.

No, you should get router only. There is no modem. When you get fiber, you will get a BTU and a router. BTU is lifetime warranty from TIME, router can be your own.

Just got the asus RT-AC1300UHP at lowyat. Shall try tonight 😬

Hi I just finish setting up the new router and updated to the latest firmware V3.0.0.4.380.8347. Somehow the speed is even slower. Maybe it’s heavy traffic in the morning? On 2G I have download speed of 30-40mbps and upload speed of 80-90mbps, on 5G download speed of 40-50mbps and upload speed of 400-500mbps. Why is my upload speed always way higher than download?

Also in the Internet setup > account setting, there is a option for choosing special requirement from ISP, but there is no TIME ISP to choose so I didn’t tick on it. There is a manual setting but I have no idea what to key in.

May I know what have I not setup right? Now I dun see the orange internet icon on this Asus as there is only blue led 😬

Slower? Just to be clear, 2G is 2.4GHz, and 5G is 5GHz, it is different from mobile. Did you use a WiFi analyzer to check the wireless signals around your area? It might be congested so go to a less congested channel. Also, are there any other devices that is using your bandwidth? Did you check the list of devices connected to your network?

For special requirement, you have to wait for bro jjj2 to give you instructions. Are you connected to the internet though? If you are, don’t worry about it, and you don’t have to set anything else.
*
Yes 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. What is wifi analyzer? Is it an app? I did the speed test after setting up with only 1 mobile device connected.

Yes I m connected to the internet but somehow my problem still remain as with the old TIME router

Also my smart tv somehow can’t detect the 5Ghz WiFi so I can only connect to 2.4Ghz just as with the old router. Think I go get a Ethernet cable to connect to the tv.

No worries, bro. A residential wireless network usually consist of two bands, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Within those two bands, there are a number of different wireless channels. If most wireless networks around you are on the same channel as you, there will be congestion/interference and the speed will be low. You need to explore the wireless networks around you, and see how congested it is, and try to set your router wireless channel to something less congested. That's why you have to download a WiFi analyzer app on your Android phone or PC.

See here for a quick basic explanation on wireless networks: https://commotionwireless.net/docs/cck/netw...ireless-basics/

Changing wireless channels and frequencies (MHz) can be done on your router interface. Login into the router and explore. Read the manual on your router. See here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/...0UHP_manual.pdf

If you need any other help, just message me. Good luck.

Thanks bro for your kind assistance. Shall read up and try

Is there a way to know the login to my router? I tried with default admin/admin and the one handwritten on sticker on the router, but it gives me login failure.

Refer to the papers that they provided to u or there is a sticker on the back of your router

Hi may I ask how to determine if the network cable is Cat5 or Cat6? Coz I just check with my interior designer they said they use Cat5. Doesn’t that actually affects my speed?

For a non-techies, the easiest way is to look at the marking on the cable jacket.

If yours is Cat5 then yes, you have a problem, if it's Cat5e, then you are safe at least for this 1-2 years. If you are Cat6, then you are still fine for upcoming 3-5 years.

Btw, what is the speed that you subscribed ?

Thanks.
*
I just check the network cables in my DB box, I have 2 network cables connected to LAN1 and LAN2 of the Huawei modem. LAN1 is Cat6 labeled on the cable which I connect to the new ASUS router in the living room while LAN2 is Cat 5E which I today connect it to the old TIME TPLink router in the door entrance area. Both routers are connected with the supplied short Cat5e cable. So I guess cable is not the issue.

Speed test has significant variance on 5Ghz from download speed of 40-100mbps to upload 400-420mbps. Still upload speed way way faster than download which shouldn’t be the case.

Another question is since I m getting the wireman next week to pull another Cat6 cable from the DB box to my bedroom on 2/F and use the old TPlink router, I decided to connect it to the existing LAN2 to give it a try to see if it’s work but somehow it doesn’t have internet connection. I was told by my friend that only 1 line with WAN? I guess he is saying I can’t have 2 routers the same TIME account? So how can I set this router for upstairs usage? Do I connect it to the LAN1 port of the new ASUS router?

Pardon me as I have very little knowledge on networking. Btw, I still haven’t figure out how to play with the different channel or frequency.

Cable is definitely not an issue, and yes, your friend is right, you can’t have two router with the same TIME account, or two separate account, unless you have two separate line. Anyway, you can disable the DHCP of the old TIME router and use it as an AP. See here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-417.html

And yes, you connect it to the LAN port of the new Asus router, whichever port is fine, to make it to be an AP.

Thanks for the info. Will try shortly if it works😬

Those network cables from modem to network points are those typical blue color shield cables.

I will need to go borrow a laptop with LAN port to perform this direct speedtest at the modem side and shall update here.

Now the headache part is new Cat6 cabling as all my wirings are concealed and it would be messy to pull a new one from living room to upstairs as I always thought it should be done at the modem side. Makes me wonder what are those extra LAN ports on the modem use for? For direct connection to tv, tvbox and desktop?

I guess my only way is to put the the old TPlink router at the DB box as the main router, connect it to LAN1 of the modem and connect the new Asus router to LAN1 or the TPlink router as AP. Then the new Cat6 cabling will go from the main router up to 2/F for wired connection to my tvbox.

Just setup the TPlink Archer C1200 as main router and Asus AC1300 as AP. I googled and follow and assigned a IP 192.168.1.11 (initially was 192.168.1.1) to the AC1300 and reboot. Thereafter I can’t login to the setting menu anymore (really have no clue why this is so) and I have to reset the AC1300 to get it working. I then set to assign Auto IP and now everything is working.

But then since I have download speed of 100mbps and upload of 400mbps, I call customer service and they advise me change the channel but still the same. Weird thing is after changing channel on 5Ghz of C1200, AC1300 no internet connection.

So may I ask do we need to assign static IP to both Main router and Wireless AP? If so can anyone advise me how to?

Btw anyone who needs to contact Time customer service, just call their toll free number instead of emailing to them. I lodge a complaint of my speed yesterday evening and just got a call a technician is coming this noon to check.

TIME technician just came to my side to check but he still shake his head and say there is nothing he can do and need to find another specialist to come.

Wired connection on the main TPlink router is indeed super fast download 460mbps and upload 480mbps. Wired connection on Asus AP drop a bit download 360mbps and upload 450mbps. The main problem of WiFi download speed over main router and AP still remain around 150-180mbps and upload still maintain 400+mbps.

I ask about orange internet icon he said it’s common but internet is still connected. So basically fix nothing for me.

M on 500mbps for about 4months. Complaint many times and technicians came in all total about 5 times and none of them is able to fix my problem as I only managed to get around 160mbps download and 450mbps upload via 5Ghz WiFi. One of the technician that came even re-terminate the fiber optic socket but still doesn’t help and end up I give up.

Since last week I test speed indeed increase to 400+mbps for both DL and UL but not constant. After seeing this thread I just realized that all these while I have been using my iPhone 7+ & 8+ to do the Speedtest. Just now I use MacBook Air to do the test via 5GHz WiFi and got 414mbps DL while on both my iPhone with 220mbps DL.

I check the TIME apps on my iPhone but still can’t see the package as it’s only written home broadband. I m at bukit Jalil but I haven’t experience any speed upgrade. Btw I am using AC1200 as main router and Asus RT-AC1300UHP as wireless AP. Wonder when can I get my upgrade.

Change to a better router and you will get better speed, and your device must support 3x3 MIMO to have a close chance of achieving close to the turbo speed.

Yup that Asus is the one I changed. Btw wat is 3*3 MIMO?? I guess maybe all these while my complaint of low speed is due to the supplied AC1200? But I did swap to Asus and tried but speed is still the same
