Very nice! What router are you using? What's the highest you can get with a local speedtest server?

Are you running on a clean config? Any port forwards or QOS or filters on?... This post has been edited by soonwai: Apr 5 2016, 11:46 PM |

QUOTE(mambojambo @ Apr 7 2016, 10:10 AM) I just installed 300Mbps Time in my house on 2nd Apr 2016. That's pretty good but DIR-850L should be able to handle full 300mbps. Someone on the Mikrotik thread managed 433mbps on TIME 500 with it.I used direct cable connection and did speed test on Time's own speed test page. The average I can get is around 260Mbps (down) / 280Mbps (up). It's the Huawei modem with D-Link DIR-850L. Is this normal? https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=79327930 |

Try gemfive.http://www.gemfive.com/my/d-link-dir-850l-...uter-1?___SID=U You should be able to get another 20%-25% off the RM279 with one of their promotions. I got my DAP-1665 from here for RM195 (279 less 30%). Thanks to khalid21! |

QUOTE(choongkhay @ Apr 17 2016, 01:31 PM) Hey guys, First ensure you testing on LAN and not Wifi.Been upgraded to 500Mbps. Installed a mikrotik RB951 router. All working but I never get a connected speed of more than 290mbps. Any solution? Thanks. RB951 can route around 300mbps and 600mbps with ROS v6.35. But that's with more or less default config, no qos and few firewall rules. Did the person who sold it to you say it was good for 500mbps? Anyway what version of ROS are you using? If older than 6.35, update and try again. Are you on default config? Can you post it? CODE /export hide-sensitive This post has been edited by soonwai: Apr 17 2016, 02:47 PM |

QUOTE(choongkhay @ Apr 17 2016, 06:18 PM) Yes its connected via LAN. I just upgraded my RB951G to ROSv6.35. Still the same speed. All my settings are default config straight out of the box. The only thing I adjusted was PPPoE settings. This RB951G should support 500mb bcos it comes with 1GBps ports. The routing speed of the RB951G has nothing to do with the GBe ports. It is determined by how fast the CPU can route. Someone in the Mikrotik thread here tested the RB2011 at 680mbps (with PPPoE & NAT). But it's only able to achieve this speed if Fasttrack/Fastpath is active. Without that, about 300mbps max. The CPU is just not fast enoughWithout more insight into your router's config, it's difficult to say why you're only getting 290mbps. Whoever recommended you the RB951G for 500mbps is misinformed. Even if you can get it to run at 680mbps, that doesn't give you much space to work with. A few QOS or firewall rules will push it back down. Unfortunately I don't have TIME Fibre to fully test it out. QUOTE(ChristWolves @ Apr 19 2016, 09:07 PM) Have you seen anyone getting router from other country and use it here with TIME BB? Just the warranty problem though and cheaper outside. If wifi router scared customs stop it and ask you go SIRIM. Very mah fan.QUOTE Any setting for the PPPoE network connection? Not using R7000 but any respectable router can support TIME. TIME is very easy, PPPoE on one of your ethernet ports, username, password, masquerade and that's it.You using The Netgear Nighthawk too? Mind to share TIME settings, if any? The requirements for a few of the popular ones: TIME: PPPoE UniFi: PPPoE + VLAN (209, 400, 500, 600) Maxis: PPPoE + VLAN (621, ??) Singtel: DHCP + VLAN (10, 20, 30, 40) Any router that can manually set those will work and R7000 has very comprehensive settings. The routers that we're used to with so-called custom eg:UniFi firmware just have all the proper PPPoE or DHCP or VLAN settings already configured for our convenience. Personally I use Mikrotik. QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Apr 12 2017, 04:05 PM) It may not be the router's fault. Ensure that you're connected to the 5Ghz wifi. If you're connected to 2.4Ghz, it doesn't matter which wifi router you use, you will only get max 80-90mbps with an Apple product. On your MBP, option click the wifi icon and see what it says. The DIR-850L is not great. It's main weakness is its signal strength. However it should have no problem routing 300mbps. This post has been edited by soonwai: Apr 12 2017, 10:05 PM |

QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Apr 21 2017, 07:46 PM) Hey all, after doing some research and spoken with two networking people, this is what i have gathered so far. Good points you have there. The speed of downloading torrent files does not only rely on Internet speed. Given the situation where your internet speed is awesome, then the number of seeders will come into play and also the upload speed of the seeders. If you are connected with seeders with slow upload speed, then your download speed will be affected. So theoretically, even with 100mbps package, it's possible to reach up to 30mbps while downloading torrents. The best indication of downloading speed is through direct downloads. Also, speedtest.net is a bad indicator as it could be rigged, like ISP could pay speedtest a certain amount to maintain that numbers for their users.** So this is what they suggested me to use: http://speedtest.googlefiber.net/. **Disclaimer: I am not an expert on this, but this what I have gathered. As far as the speed concerned, I am pretty satisfied with it, just wanted more and make sure I am maximizing the usage. Normally what I do is to use torrents which are known to be well seeded. Most of the time I use Centos torrents. Of course I don't get speeds as high as you lucky TIME people. Example: ![]() UniFI 60 (30 x 2) ![]() UniFI 100. I was using 5 torrents to stress the router max no of connections. |

QUOTE(miyakochan89 @ Apr 23 2017, 11:29 AM) Eh, I think you got the max speed already, cause yours is mb/s, which is 8 times of mbps, so you have already got the max download speed of 100mbps. Yes, I have. To avoid ambiguity, use mb/s or Mbps for megabit per second, and MB/s or MBps for Megabyte per second. |

QUOTE(ahmy @ Sep 4 2017, 02:37 PM) I'm using the default router which i believe D-Link DIR-850L model. So i have to explore the router in the DHCP section? No, that doesn't have it. You'll have to get a new router for something like this. Such as the Mikrotik RB941. It's only RM130 but not sure if it'll be fast enough for 100mbps.Have you tried using the DIR-850L QoS Engine? I don't think it works too well but can try. Are your mates downloading using torrents? This post has been edited by soonwai: Sep 4 2017, 04:41 PM |

99% of DIR-850L owners won't know or do anything about this. My friend dun even know where his router is. Under the stairs, behind the TV or in the back store room? Weekend gotta go cari for him.
