QUOTE(mavric @ Apr 6 2016, 10:39 PM)
Hi guys,

Need some advice. I've been on Time for the past 2 years. It was 8Mbps when I first signed up with the 24 month contract. Then upgraded automatically to 10Mbps and recently got the email of another upgrade to 100Mbps. Naturally I was quite excited when I saw that email from Time.

But my joy was short lived. My modem and router is in the hall right next to my living room, literally 2 feet away from my sofa without any walls etc. blocking or interfering with the signal.

When I am on Wifi and I run Speedtest, the result is around 30 - 40Mbps for download and upload speed respectively. However, when I plug in my LAN cable, it can hit up to 80++ Mbps for upload and download.

Modem: Huawei HG8240
Router: Linksys E1200

Both were given to me 2 years ago when I signed up wit Time.

Any advice? Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Wi-Fi Router is the issue. Can't achieve full speed.

Just got Time Fibre 100 Mbps, so for looks good.
However I'm not really impressed with the D-link DIR-850L router.

I have my own TP-Link Archer C7 router and want to use it instead. I had UniFi before this.

The tech guy who installed told me that all I should have to do is to change the PPPoE username and password and then I should be good to go.

Unfortunately I cannot connect. If I switch back to the D-link router (with the almost no settings) it just works...
Time Support just refers me to the manufacturer for support instead of giving me info enough for me to solve it on my own.

Anyone else in here using TP-Link with their Time Fibre who cares to share?
*
You have to reset the old Wi-Fi router to use.

OK, I'll set reset the router to clean out any incompatible settins from before.
However there is no pre made TIME setting when setting up the router. Only UniFi and Maxis exists in the options menu. I already tried the wizard when I tried setting up the router a second time.

Maybe I need to update the firmware, mine is a version 2, about 1 year old and bought at a time when there was no TIME logo on the packaging. smile.gif

Hi. Have you tried setting up?
Do have manual PPPoE?

Would it be technically possible to lay the cable free on the floor?

On the floor would be possible. Cable will be easily torn when stepping or pulling.

Mine was installed without drilling, the technician routed the fiber cable through the ceiling.
*
The fibre lay from outside to inside by putting on the main entrance door?
