i just heard of annoucement of TIME upgrade.

i so outdated doh.gif

i am using TIME stock router TP-LINK Archer C1200, and now I am on 500 mbps plan

my computer is old (> 10 years already) and my network speed is only 100mbps.

so guys, what i need to do to get 500 mbps?

need to change router?

need to add in network card?

or simply need to change the motherboard?

i do some speedtest using LAN cable (i think is Cat 5e), download speed only 80+ mbps, upload speed only 50+ mbps.

using iPhone X on 5G wifi, go until very near the router, download speed only 160+ mbps, upload speed only 80 mbps.

Get at least AC2300 and above if you want fully 500Mbps on WiFi.

Do check out the Maximum Wi-Fi Speed thread for more info.

Thanks.

If you have no $$ to invest, minimum requirement is Archer C9!

hi bro, I have the $ but I don't want to simply just spend for the sake of spending (buy the most expensive i mean).

I want to get the best value ratio in price vs performance.

any recommendation? nod.gif

btw, I am using DNS-320 network drive. Previously I use a very old stock router from Unifi, no problem with it.

Now after I changed to TIME and use AC1200 router, my network drive keep disappearing from the network from time to time. Need to restart the DNS only can appear back.

the Twonky server I installed in the DNS-320 also will auto disconnect when I watch movie content in the DNS via Samsung smart TV.

very annoying. Until now I still can't find a solution about it.

the configuration i used to enable detection of DNS-320 and Twonky server is I enable the DMZ under the NAT forwarding section.

not sure whether this is the culprit.

Hi, what's your budget so that we can recommend it you.
And state how many 5G devices connected to the router.
budget not a problem but don't just recommend the most expensive router to me la... biggrin.gif

I finding for best performance vs price ratio router.

I have four 5G devices. Planning to add more in the future in the form of laptops, and convert PC connection from LAN to WIFI because I dislike the LAN cable on the floor (lazy do proper arrangement running through ceiling). Does this really important?

staying in 2 storey building.

I actually really benefit and happy from those internet speed upgrade. Not because only I can enjoy the extra speed, but because ppl start to ask questions then got sifu answer here then I can read and know better.

I tried to study about network and also computer technology (my knowledge was 10 years ago) end of last year and find it very hard to decide what to buy.
