For those people still on VIP5 and VIP10, I suggest saying no a few times when they call, even if you are willing to upgrade to their Advance packages. The offers will keep getting better.

Just received my 3rd call from them today, but I said 'no' again, since I will be moving to TIME Fibre.
*
That's my plan too.. Initially wanted to upgrade a couple months back but decided against it, primarily cuz they refused to upgrade the ailing equipment with newer ones and there were rumours that better hardware will be given out, as evident by the newer routers. Only a few months left and been politely declining till I'm offered a sweet deal. Will play the TIME card next time..

New equipment, free first month (or three), free call package, better HyppTV package... Just squeeze them for everything you can, regardless of whether you are going to make use of them.

And yes. Helps a lot if you are out of contract and no longer held hostage.

As for the TIME card, I think they can call your bluff by checking your service address.
*
Yeah, I'm aware they can call my bluff. However, I'm banking on the fact that a condo nearby that TIME recently moved into & their possible expansion would jolt them a little.

QUOTE(Huntsman @ Apr 21 2016, 05:12 AM)
As for the equipment, I don't really care at all because I run pfsense box. Honestly I just hope they have the option to remove the phone and hypptv and just reduce the price.
*
Oh I want the new hardware cuz if I'm being shafted, might as well be as comfortable as possible... Plus they'd bleed a little if everyone demands such. TM's history has shown that there's a higher chance of getting perks than getting price reductions or hypptv removed. So I'm not counting on those.

You could try calling to ask (Read as "Beg") or complain and hope TM agrees to replace it..

If I put router at downstairs..wifi at upstair can get 40mbps?
Hehe
*
That would depend on the size of your house and the amount of network interference.

QUOTE(cva2928 @ Apr 27 2016, 11:19 AM)
Just got a call from Unifi CS

I'm currently still on VIP10 with Hypptv Megapack for RM 199 before GST. Was offered to upgrade to 30Mbps while maintaining Hypptv Megapack @ RM199. 600 minutes free calls to any TM number and any mobile network. 1 year warranty extension for router and hypptv box.

Current contract left 8 months to go and it still applies.

Anyone else received the offer?
*
Meaning contract period isn't going to be refreshed to 24 months all over?

As per the Unifi CS, my current contract will remain status quo and wont be renewed. I did re-confirm this over the phone with the CS rep and asked would my contract be renewed........she said no. I was reminded i cannot make any changes within this 8 months or i will incur penalty.

She informed a confirmation email will be sent with the details. I've accepted the offer on d phone.

I will go thru TM's email once i receive it and update here.
*
hmm.gif hmm.gif ... Seems unusual that TM would allow such... Nvm, as you've mentioned, the confirmation email should clear the air. Awaiting update.. smile.gif

Got offered 30mb for RM199, I'm on 10mb. Haven't accept yet but I was told I will rugi if I don't take it.

Wonder whether the 600 min call limit is only to other fixed line/mobile? but tm to tm fixed line is still free after the 600 mins?

Also I was told I'm using over the limit for my VIP10 package, limit 90GB but I used 200GB and was told after using over the limit my connection will be slow. Didn't know got limit cap in the first place or am I being trolled by the TM caller? Well I can say they are very persuasive and try all kinds of methods to get you to upgrade.

Sounds like a troll... tongue.gif

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Apr 29 2016, 11:40 AM)
it is obvious the tm/unifi/dealer are still playing games with pricing for adv30.

and so long ago, maxis got into trouble unable to justify why new users always get better deal than loyals. rolleyes.gif

what is interesting is they now bring back previously defunct megapack into the offers.

seems it is popular enough, good also for existing users to keep it.
i was on vip10 + mega -> adv30 + mega.

the bill:

adv30 rm169
discount -rm50
hypptv mega rm50
gross rm 169
add gst
add phone calls (i used very little)

so, my monthly bill is rm180 or so.

if u get better, congrats.

if worse, negotiate!

i did not wait for call, went straight to tmpoint.
*
Makes sense.. Same scenario here.. Though they called to offer as above.. I rejected as they refused to replace the much older hardware with newer ones. shakehead.gif Awaiting next offering pending contract expiry. TIME is close by..

Take note
QUOTE
"We are in a competitive environment. We will compete on price when we see fit, but for TM, we will always want to compete in value. So, it is not just pure pricing. [What is] more important is the value we can provide to our customers,” he told a media conference after TM’s annual general meeting yesterday.

While I agree value packages, network stability and speed consistency are important, pricing is even more important as the cost is just too damn high! So, I'll believe it when I see it.. yawn.gif

When I sign up for Unifi they have always told me the termination charges is RM500, even when I terminate the TM Point fellas told me RM500 as well how can they charge me extra HyppTV Service Early Termination Charge and Ruby Pack 2 Early Termination Fee WTH
*
QUOTE(yauyau83 @ May 5 2016, 08:25 AM)
They never told me about this, I didn't know there is a different contract to it.
*
They did.. As a paying consumer, you signed a T & C agreement. It's included in the contract, also up on TM's website and even here on lowyat forum. It's up to you and not the seller/provider to make sure whatever you put your signature to is something you can live with. Sorry, but ignorance is simply not an excuse.

Say what you want but I was never Ignorant about it, I double checked everything before I terminate, I called once and the customer service told me cancelation fees is RM500, ask again at TM point and the dude tell me it's RM500.  I just went to TM Point and manage to get it waived, so end up paying RM500 to terminate, good thing that they have a better sense in customer service now.

Do note that when they sell me the HYPP TV package they did it over the phone and I don't remember them saying there is extra penalty for termination. It's plain unfair to get charged extra because they have confirmed with me the amount I have to paid for cancelation regardless of the "contract" over the phone. I won't complain if they told me the total cancelation fees beforehand but that was just not the case.
*
Say what I want? You weren't ignorant? Yeah... Buddy.. See, I'm not the one who came to whine/rant... Be glad they either made amends or showed leniency and move on.. I merely pointed out the experience of others and in case of future dealings.. Today, it's TM.. Tomorrow might be a different company with an ironclad contract.. So be wise. See below:

guys currently im using UniFi Advance 30Mbps and ahem iptv. problem is, the iptv seems slow and i need to restart my router regularly while my parent house everything is ok. i noticed they have the different router.

so can i ask for a replacement router from TM?

or any recommendation router for UniFi? i dont need vlan
*
Don't think it'll be possible to get a replacement router from TM, with such a reason.. Especially if you are able to get at least 80% of your speed package.. So it's either you get "creative" and come up with a suitable reason for TM or its third party router time.. Which are your parents' using? Perhaps, get that instead.

Guys.. does the HyppTV contract gets renewed too if i upgrade my Unifi from 20mbps to 50mbps?

Because im thinking to downgrade my mega pack to aneka pack because not watching hypptv anymore.

Im afraid if i downgrade later got extra charges? Or does not apply here?
*
If the mega pack is being discounted, as in free? Then no need to downgrade, just leave as is. I believe switching to Aneka plan, especially with a speed upgrade, will reset the contract. However, since it's an upgrade, you can negotiate with TM not to reset the contract period of either the speed bump or Hypptv. Some have successfully done it.

Actually, my HyppTV pack is the old pack before the introduction of the new jumbo pack? Theres no discounted fee for the hypptv as it has no replacement that time when i upgrade my unifi.
*
I see... I still have mine and it's discounted and so even with a speed upgrade, there will be no hypptv 12 months contract. Talk to TM.

1. What is the price for Unifi 30Mbps package? RM 199/month or RM179/month?
2. Any promotion now?
3. Unifi  / Maxis - Which one is more better?
*
1. RM199.
2. Not officially...
3. Can't say as Unifi works perfectly for me right now. Besides Maxis Home Fibre is riding TM's backbone, so theoretically Unifi should be better. See here and here.

QUOTE(vincenz @ May 11 2016, 12:18 PM)
Hi guys,

Sorry if someone did brought this up before. I got a call from TM today about new offer. Just wondering whether i should take it.

Im currently using 10mb line with RM169 monthly, free fixed line.

Their offer :
RM 189
1. upgrade to 30mb
2. free 600min calls, after 600min, fixed line remain free
3. Ruby pack

RM179
1. Same as above
2. Same as above
3. Aneka

I'm thinking to grab the RM179 since im not watching any HyppTV channel. Does this worth or there is another much cheaper offers?

Thank you
*
Since you don't need the Hypptv channels, definitely go for the RM179 deal as you still get free calls.... You get three times current speed + free calls for extra RM10, effectively saving an additional RM20, if upgraded normally.. IMO, worth it...

Thanks mate!! rclxms.gif

So this is the only cheaper offers in the market you might know/read of right now?

Coz previously when i upgraded to the RM169 10Mb package, i heard there were much cheaper package RM149 for the same package i have.

I've asked them call back later before conclude anything, as i know i have dozens consultants here to help me decide.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
*
Yeah, seems to be the cheapest for regular subscribers... If you are still within contract for the VIP10 package, when you get the call back, try negotiating NOT to have the 2 year contract reset. Meaning, that the remaining months are kept. Its a long shot, but has been gotten in the past. Besides, no harm in trying.
If out of contract, guess no choice but to accept a fresh 2 year contract.

Actually if you ask me now, I wouldn't mind upgrading to 30Mbps from 20Mbps now. 50Mbps just great for download and streaming but after checking the logs, 30Mbps is adequate for a family of 5. biggrin.gif

Think about it, if 30Mbps is adequate.. 50Mbps will be over 9000!!... IMO... Go BIG or go home!!... nod.gif

QUOTE(ComradeZ @ May 11 2016, 04:09 PM)
Hey guys, still deciding whether should I get unifi or not. Currently using maxis 2mbps at RM90/m

I've read some of the problem with unifi, but not sure if its true or not and since you guys already own it, maybe you can answer it from your own experiences. So here is the questions:
1. If my internet slow/problem, would the customer service give instant reply to the problem (live in Shah Alam) ?
2.  If I download something from the cloud ie: gigabytes of photos or videos overnight (I edit photos and videos for a living mostly wedding) would it be interrupted and maybe corrupt? (experienced in maxis)
3. If my roommate watch hypptv while I on mmo, would it effect the ping on my mmo?
4. If I play mmo and suddenly a roommate downloaded/streaming drama, would it effect my ping on mmo?

Thanks in advance.
*
Get Unifi... Be prepared to pay twice as much for the Advance30 package.

for those who has dual band router, i want ask, do u separate the 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi? or use the same ssid for both band?
*
For simplicity, you can setup a single SSID for both and connecting devices will switch between as appropriate. However, if you want more control and stability (I.e among connected devices), then assigning different SSID per band would be best. Especially with a lot of older hardware that might have issues with switching between bands as needed.
