What about limiting the amount of threads a person can bump within a certain amount of time? This way they can open as much threads and not cover up the rest. Best of both worlds?

edit: typo

Usually they bump at one time of the day, maybe 5 minutes to BUMP all their threads, you don't really expect them to login every few minutes to BUMP 1 thread?

Not bump 1 thread within 1 minute. Make it like 3 threads in half an hour...

Give others a chance to bump as well...

limitation of thread per user is more approtiate i think.
They can post all their item in let say 3 thread/user.
Surely they can list their item in post 1,post 2,post3 to let say post 5.
Don't tell me each item 1 thread.
If you have 100 item, 100 thread?
At least, be considerate to other seller as well.

Yes, this is something I agree too. But I'll suggest 5 threads as some sellers do have lots of item to sell and some of them are very unrelated.

Don't forget the category tags will have to be reworked a little to encompass various items in the combined thread when searched. I reckon thats probably whats holding it from being implemented.

I have a few suggestions I'll like to make but I don't know if they're relevant or could be implemented or not. But just hear me out.

I think Bulk Orders need a major cleanup as most of the threads in there do not reflect the purpose of the section. People selling items that do not need any MOQ or people who use that section as an extension to their local retail business should not be considered as bulk orders.

From what i see, most of the sellers who have many threads in Bulk Orders are selling computer accesories i.e. mouses, keyboards, enclosures, diy stuff, fans, heatsinks. For that I think the Small accesories tag in Garage Sales should be elevated to a Subforum and maybe renamed to Computer accesories and peripherals. Have all the sellers who are not really doing any bulk purchases move their threads to respective Garage Sales subforums.

I think the reason regular sellers are unwilling to move to Garage Sales is because there are just too many threads in there. Since bumps are limited to once per day, it's hard to highlight stuff you're selling. Maybe Lyn can implement a spot for regular sellers to advertise their threads. Have regular sellers buy advertising spots from Lyn since they're making a business out of Lyn anyway.

Maybe widen the area between the Trade Zone title and the start of Garage Sales forum and highlight advertisers' threads there. Advertising could be like pinned threads with a title and maybe a spot to highlight new items. Advertising packages could range from 1 day to maybe 1 week with a maximum advertising spot of maybe 5-10 threads maybe with a limit to 2 spots per seller. Advertising could be done on a first come first serve basis maybe even a thread in the Announcement forum listing current and upcoming advertisers to promote transparency.

These are just rough ideas. I also don't know if it would be possible to implement code wise or not. Above are just my two cents. If I offended anyone please have mercy smile.gif

Thanks for your input. Yeah you're right, Bulk Orders does need a cleanup. I think I've requested for about 5-10 topics to be moved out from there, and that's only in the first page.

Another possible reason that people put their stuff in BO is that they don't understand the bulk concept. If this is the case, I can change BO such that new topics are subject to moderator approval.

Hmm, I think I'll need help from the moderators to help move my thread out of bulk section then. smile.gif

I LOLed at this part of your post. Your suggestion is welcomed and I would be hard pressed to find anyone who could take offense at it. Keep 'em comin'.

Business and making extra income is not quite the same I guess. If a explanation on this is required I'll be happy to explain to the mods(privately).

Anyway, this is not only about garage sales but also about bulk order section.
