It's not about the EQ.... it's about the amp and the effects.....

For a beginner on a tight budget, even though still sounds a little digital, I would recommend the Zoom G2.1u pedal... mainly because it has quite a number of good amps, solid effects (especially the digital ones), expression pedal AND a USB interface for recording to the PC..... mostly because of the last one which is why I recommend the Zoom G2.1u pedal instead of the Korg Toneworks, where it has slightly better effects, but no recording feature.....

hmmm?
who said the Korg Toneworks has no recording feature?
just use the normal way which i believe is called a line-in tongue.gif

the few clips i've messed around on have been done on my Korg Toneworks.

Yeah, that too.... but don't have to worry if the soundcard is good enough, the ASIO configurations and stuff like that.....
with USB.... Install drivers, Install Software, Plug It In, you're good to go.

I record clips using my toneworks via the toneport (basically for a wah pedal) some of the amps and cabs in gearbox sounded better for my taste

Yeah, but a Toneworks + a Toneport would definately go over the RM400 price mark.

Bents don't sell Zoom products. Try Chambers in Sungai Wang or CK music (I Think).......
